shoutout to big ten for posting these so fast
Most athletic 285 match i can recall
in a good while
hr markley have you forgot about Snyder ??
One of very few to win the Olympics and the Natty in the same year. And way better wrestler then Gable
Jj Smith -of course, not!!! Snyder has had a brilliant career and is an all time great. But both of these guys are and athletic, technical and huge (don’t think either of them will make (97 like Snyder again 🤣) as sophomores-was impressed with the low shots, the sprawl into a reshot, the scrambles, excellent wrestling match, not 2 giant guys pushing and mauling for 7 minutes
Kort Latimore. Well of course Snyder Better then Mason Ding Dong. Gable just out wrestled Mason. So why would I mention Mason name then it’s pretty obvious.
Since last year? Cassar
@@Ajc99130 eye spy the buckeye fan boy.
Never realized Steveson's exceptional atlethicism until this match.
Smh your a scrub if you just noticed.
@@Gymthingz well.. I'm not disputing that..i went 0-24 as a 135 lber my senior year @ Anchorage Prep Academy in Anchorage Alaska. My opponents won by tech. fall in 80% of the matches as well. Unfortunately I couldn't get any forfeits that year to get me some wins. I'm the most losing wrestler in Alaska state history. I even made the local paper for it.
@@DB-115 oh wow. That's an interesting point. My callout was that because hes been this way for a whole 2 years now. And it's just odd so many other people noticed. I get it wrestling is weird to watch. You see 2 guys domainte others. Then you see them battle and the one that wins, you see how much better they are then the field. Once you see how far they set themselves apart from the 2nd guy.
@@Gymthingz to be fair though Parris is by far the most athletic guy he's wrestled collegiately & he made it look so easy. Even last year losing to Cassar twice I'd say I didn't see such athleticism hence I didn't know it was there. He moved like a light weight in this match. And as far as my career no worries. It was my first year ever wrestling & with no experience I was thrown out to the wolves.
@@DB-115 Cassar is more athletic than Parris. Watch the Cassar, Parris match. Parris may have gained a little bit (I think he was below Cassar's weight last year). Cassar's speed and power are in avoiding takedowns and getting deep on a double. Steveson has always been lighter and more athletic - how many big guys go high and then follow up with an ankle pick? He plays with most guys because he can go anywhere head to toe and a follow up shot could be 6 feet below the last one. It was strange to see him play it as conservative as he did against cassar last year - twice. I felt (as a penn state alum) like he looked like he had a better tool set than cassar, but there are some intagibles. The cartwheel escape attempt that he made in the first match - I'll bet he gets away every single time with that, but cassar probably wrestles cael, and he hung with it.
Steveson and cassar both have gas tanks that nobody else at heavyweight has.
In iran , we call wrestling a sport for tough mans and same an art use of technique and i respect to usa , you have good wrestlers
Iran has very good wrestlers, too. 👍
Always a pleasure to see our guys match up against the toughest in the world and there are some impressive men from all over. Such a great sport!
@milad, I'm American and I love to watch your wrestlers Muhammadian and Hassan Yazdani chacara💪
@@bobklein1665 thank you bob , apart from politic problem , i respect to usa peaple , very happy and sport fan nation , i hope 2021 be health year for you and wait for wrestling contest between usa and iran🇺🇸🇮🇷
Much respect 🙌🏻
i thought Paris would win but Steveson is an absolute technician! great job!
I thought so to but by pin. Not saying gable isn’t good but thought a throw would’ve had him in trouble from parris
Demetrius Davis Parris will never pin Gable you clown😭😭
@@demetriusdavis95 you’re a lost soul
Close match wait until there seniors
@@codmmigsgaming5202 yeah and gable is light years ahead
Finally, 285 is fun to watch
And now OLYMPIC GOLD. That's incredible!
That ankle pick by Gable was so slick
Wow this modern era of heavyweights is incredible, these guys are phenomenal wrestling athletes. So fast, slick, incredible techniq
Gable is just inhuman, never saw a 285 wrestler move as fast and as smooth as he does
Steveson is playing chess the whole time. Parris won’t be resting until he’s back on the mat with him again.
Well we see how the rematch went
We get this matchup for two more years. Not to mention adding Kerkvliet to the mix. Great to be a fan!
Don’t forget Schultz!
And cassioppi
Jj Pesty Cassioppi has a long way to go to catch either of these two.
Adam Lopez sorry, no offense but Schultz is not in this league.
@@sabrewolf9567 100% Schultz's is a beast! To have so many young heavyweights it's going to be fun these next few years.
Gable is so impressive to watch. His defense on his feet is incredible and all his attacks are so slick and clean. Parris will have to figure out better set ups to his shots to have a chance.
Was alright parris just made some mistakes he was more active and can win a rematch
@@andrewgiegerich5526 I don't know. Very little of Mason's offense looked like it even had a chance at scoring. If he doesn't figure out some setups for Gable or have some serious chain wrestling it doesn't look to me like other matches will be that different. Plus Gable was super efficient in his attacks. He scored on almost every attack. If the scores table wasn't so close Gable would have gotten that takedown too
@@Jayhawk92 yea he only shot and he didn't re attack and chain wrestle it was the only difference
They were both pretty active but Parris seemed to reach more than set anything up. Gable also would've had another TD had that table not been there.
Justin Duerr table saved him
Smells like national finals
TMT 1 not to be....F’n Corona 🦠😐
Gable is so agile for a heavy
i thought this was pro wrestling for a sec the way mason used that table.
Thats not real wrasslin!!!
Lol
Why do they put the head table so freakin close to the mat like what do you expect to happen?
Yeah they need to move that head table farther back I remember when I was wrestling people used to crash into tables all the time luckily I never saw anyone get hurt from that
When they were talking about gassing, Parris looked like he was hurting.
Imagine if Gable would just try to ride people out lol
Don't think Steveson is a great rider...
Imagine if Gable had the stamina to keep attacking all match like a Kyle snyder. If he worked on his conditioning a little he'd be absolutly unstoppable.
Jeffrey Russell Jr they’re two completely different body types & two different styles.
john doe that’s what a lot of people don’t understand. Body types play a huge part in tactic.
Nas Mafia it would seem like common sense but apparently for some it’s not.
Parris is a phenomenal athlete who has only recently been concentrating on wrestling. With additional size and experience, he has big time upside potential. Gable has great defense, and is slick and quick when he sees an opportunity. Fun match.
Steve Trammell Mason wrestled all through high school. where is this narrative coming from? And as far as gables defense he didn’t even show anything crazy here just a collar tie mason couldn’t get pass. Ik you guys want him to get one but he is so far behind Gable.
@@greatstate58 he did but it wasnt his main thing all throughout high school but yea he did wrestle in hs
GOAT Daniel most of these guys participated in multiple sports in high school. They’re top tier athletes. Mason may have been better at other sports than many wrestlers were but it’s not unique that he participated in other sport.
@@greatstate58 no the unique part is that he's very good at wrestling especially in a time where kids grow up focusing on wrestling all year round Mason didn't, he grew up playing 3 sports and did so all throughout high school instead of perfecting his wrestling craft and he's still the 2nd best guy in the country. Usually when you're that good at something you've been preparing and dedicating your whole life to it.
@@greatstate58 Well not this season Mansion drives much more I see now another Gable in mansion
“I’ll show up again in two weeks.” 😢
Rip to that
What happened?
@@cheesegrater8011 COVID canceled everything.
Should've held the NCAA, hardly anyone had it then, would've been fine.
That was such a bummer, I had tickets to that too.
Great match! Two very athletic heavyweights!
Wow the escape from the knee pick was nice
What a great match!! Looking forward to more matches between these two giants.
Mason scored once (gable gave it up) now all the gable hatters are quietly saying. “Mason will win the next one.” Or “if cassar was here...” 😂🤣😂
Facts
It’s really like they didn’t watch the match😂😂😂
@@JGLFootball it was a 1 point match with gable getting put down at the end very well could have lost
Andrew Giegerich one point match because like ALL GABLE MATCHES he doesn’t give af about escape points. which were 4 of masons points. No skill mason had was was keeping him in the match. the stupid folk style rules kept him in this match. Spencer Lee even briefly talked about his dislike for escape points in folk style. And the last score gable strategically gave up to avoid mason going for a desperation move in that spot. Do you even watch or do you just see the score and give your thoughts?
@@greatstate58 I watched it! It looked like gable could have dominated but didn't. . . Parris isn't really gonna be able to stop his shots but if he pushes the pace and takes angles when he shoots he could easily win. Sorry you are upset
Wow what a match and respect between these elite athletes. This is what the sports about!
Two heavyweight studs for sure. If they wrestle 10 times its 5-5. I think Parris will win next round. Great to see 2 athletic heavys.
Gable completely dominated... not sure what your seeing... calling it an even split is laughable.
I don't see him Parris taking out Gable this year. In a year's time that's a different story.
Matt Tveita right?!? I didn’t see him offer up much here to say he will split with gable. He might get 1. Doubt it.
Think they are both impressive athletes who are fun to watch-instead of a heavyweight push/maul fest. But think Gable was in charge the whole way. Would pick him to win next time also...
Gable is always trying to do freestyle at Folkstyle tournaments. If Gable loses to him it will be due to easy standups Gable hands out
I rather see Steveson with olympic gold, but man I really wanna see him in the UFC one day.
Heavyweight is primed for a young star in the UFC. Been a long time since that division has been good.
Cassiopi has a background in Boxing and is pretty vocal about wanting to pursue MMA after his wrestling career is done. I do want to see Gable give it a shot tho too.
@@maxnak2556 all the great athletes in heavyweight go play football. Ufc just doesn't pay enough.
What a match!
"gable is scared of mason" lol
He was visibly shaken the whole match, lol. Good Grief.
Zakk Diesel oh yes! Weak knees and sweaty palms. The fear he had for mason was clear. 😂🤣
Great thing is. Mason keeps improving leaps and bounds. Adding weight and strength. These past 16 months is the first time in his life he has wrestled full time. With being an all state football player and track athlete. Grab your popcorn boys.
Matt Rybolt you think he needs more weight? I didn’t see strength being an issue here. I think gable is just the better wrestler. There’s only so much catching up mason can realistically do because I don’t expect Gable to stop getting better as well.
Great match by them both. But a win is a win
They need to move them tables it is not Stevenson's fault he ran into the table. If the match was close then that could have cost him the match.
Seemed like Stevenson knew exactly where they were. The reason he dropped so quick for the ankle tie-up, trying to get the points.
@@joeswheat Stevenson was taking him down the whole match. I highly doubt that was on his mind.
llman03 no doubt. It looked like he actually saw the outabounds coming and dropped quick instead of pushing through. fact that he was asking for the two after the whistle, made me think he imagined the whole sequence. Well aware of where they were on the mat.
This the the comment I was looking for. I mean, dang. His feet are in and Mason can't even get close to falling. Ridiculous
Gable looks extremely polished. No wasted movements. Very efficient.
gable makes it look so easy, it's truly insane
Beast, exceptional athlete
Love Gable calling out all the haters
Parris is great. But his misfortune is to be same age as Steveson, a generational talent.
Great match! Can't wait for the rematch.
Gable could be the next Daniel Cormier if he does MMA
Great match
Watched this last night and was surprised that it was not as close as it was hyped to be. There was an obvious difference in skill.
Man imagine if Cassar could’ve wrestled this year
What would he do with a 4th place ribbon?
Zakk Diesel hahaha he would’ve Beat your Boy Gable again.
@@Ajc99130 There is no sense arguing about it really, since it won't happen. But Gable is a year older, hungry, and in a lot better shape.
Gable will do much better internationally in the next 5 years than Cassar, so I guess we can use that as the bet settler.
Zakk Diesel facts are Facts. Gable can’t beat Anthony he had two chances to do it and couldn’t do it. I know it hurts Gable will likely be a 1 or 2 x ncaa champ
Cassar has 6/7 years on gable and had to almost break his headgear to get the shot last year and win ncaa semis.
Big Ten, thanks for posting but move that scoring table back a bit.
Guaranteed Gold. I can't wait to see him on a USA senior freestyle team. #theZionofWrestling
Both of these guys are super good and being an Ohio State fan that hurts me to say about Paris. Lol.
I miss doing this
Gable has a vicious trip. He slams everyone with them.
I honestly did not doubt Gable's ability to beat Mason...this guy is the definition of class, poise and attack. The commentators said it well, he's got wisdom in controlling the fight.
Stephen Oni not sure I would say “class”.
@@djp3525 depends on your definition of 'class' right.
Look at it now gable is 2 time champ and a Olympic gold, and Paris is a champ this year good too see
like watching two 125s wrestle in slow motion...
Idk. They were pretty athletic compared to the usual heavy weight match..
Both of these guys are athletic. When I use to wrestle , heavy weights use to just bear hug each other and fall to their back. LoL
Where’s the Gable haters now 😩😂
Mason gets more pins than Gable. But Gable is steady and conservative.
Conservative = smart. Why waste energy on shots that will get you no results when you can set opponents up and shoot when it’s smart.
i think that's fair
Wrestling a real men's sport
I've found since i started watching MMA i'm more interested in wrestling in general.
Mason dropping down a weight class next year calling it now
You cannot be serious...Mason is not dropping 50 pounds after putting on 20+ pounds this year...Plus Michigan has a very good incoming prospect at 197.
That was definitely 2. Doggon table !
Why is that head table so close to the mat?
I have no clue what’s happening but this dope
Steveson capitalized on the freebies. Parris is only going to keep getting better with time.
Those Valley wrestlers just have that confidence in their stance.
I’m not really a fan of the Stevenson style but he got the job done. Great athleticism in bursts, but deliberately stalls in between.
Great match. Disappointed Parris lost but good stuff to both guys. Feel like Gable stalled his way through most of it but it worked and he's champ so don't really matter ig but good stuff to both wrestlers.
Zach Hughes do you guys actually know what stalling is or do you just shout it when your guy loses?
@@greatstate58 well I wrestled all through school for Rex Peckinpaugh in New Castle, Indiana. I knew Mason Parris he whipped up on our 182 everytime which was two years older than him and no punk and had also wrestled his whole life. Just heat of moment what I said right after I seen the match. I didn't intend to send any bad or negative vibes bro. And Gable is actually from Indiana I believe but moved to Minnesota in 8th grade. I'm glad and happy for em. He done just what was needed to win. No one can deny he stalled but it's all down to the strategy he had to use in that situation. No hard feelings to anyone I cant hate on em Gable is a monster. I just wanted Parris to win just because of the fact I had seen him wrestle in person and was from close to my hometown. Just looking forward to there match up in two weeks. Peace love and positivity fellas that's all i can say. Happy Monday. Hope everyone's day is great. It is what you make it!
@@greatstate58 oh and my brothers name is also John but its actually Johnny lol. He wrestled for NC as well. Along with the other greats Matt Jaggers, Keith Garrard, Nathan Pickle, Jeremy Motle, and 1996 state champ Bubba Dickerson.
He didn’t stall at the rematch this year straight clapped mason 😂😂
Paris needs to start creating angles with his shots smh
Yea he could have really ran away with that match
Smh? You would’ve done much better, I’m certain.
DJP no one said I would have done better but I’m saying he would have had a better chance if he wasn’t Shooting straight on
Yep but have you seen him this year.
GS is great, BUT it would open up his creative arsenal IF he worked on his conditioning.
Gable hasta get in better condition for Senior-level competition. He tends to gas alot. But, he's VERY good.
Don’t really watch a lot of wrestling but I do watch a lot of ufc though. Just got a random thought I never seen any heavyweights really wrestle so I searched it up and holy fuck. These guys move fucking quick
Let’s Goooo
If only heavy weights in
HS wrestle like these guys
Great great match. My only complaint is with about a minute and a half left the ref should have awarded a point forestalling. This would have incentivized both of them to put it all on the line.
Hope steveson transitions to mma after he graduates
Im starting to see that steveson’s takedowns are allot of snap and single or snap and doubles or spins
I believe Stevenson had more in the tank than Parris at the end of the day. Parris had some sloppy shot here and there but towards middle- end of the match you could see how he was relaxing. I think Parris was also in his own head before because he should know better when it comes to scoring on a higher level opponent
This is how you control and dictate a match!!!!
@2:35😲
I had a dream that gable lost to mason and this popped up in my feed. I wanna see how this season goes
I’m from the future. It got worse for mason.
Mason just got his cheeks handed to him 😂😂😂😂
Is it me or does Stevenson isn't even going 100%? He makes it look so easy.
Everyone was hating on Gable in the comments a few weeks ago lol. The scoreboard does not tell the whole story when it comes to this match. Dominant performance from Gable. Wasn't close.
This scoring table at the BIG 10 doesn't appear to be 5ft back from the out of bounds line. This is ridiculous for a sanctioned event... Even if somehow this was 5ft ...sure doesn't look it they need to move these scoring tables back to 10ft. With the current scoring rules you would think this would be changed as the action is now occuring outside of the out of bounds line. Clearly for these large wrestlers with wingspans well over 7ft the current standard is dangerous...Someone will be concussed on one of these tables and it will be the fault of the NCAA and whoever is allowing this to go unchecked.
Current rules are :The matted
apron around the wrestling area shall extend at least 5 feet
between out of bounds lines, and when 2 mats are side-by side
at least 5 feet from the out of bounds line and any obstruction
such as a table, bleachers, or walls. See drawing on WR-11.
Who else thinks Gable Stevenson looks like "The weekend"?
Hey they mixed up the rankings 😂
let it be known that gable steveson makes tiktoks
MN RULZ for Wrestling
Mason has lost weight since high school? Think that is just adding muscle?
I disagree I think he’s looked bigger than ever
Naw I wrestled at the school right next to his old high school and he got a lot bigger
Yep
I’m confused who won
Is it just me or is Steveson been looking more lean than last season
Probably just you looking more lean, Gable seems the same.
kid has the right first name....
Mason's a really good wrestler...but he was schooled on HOW a heavyweight uses technical dominance to win a match...
He looks like Jordan peele
That first sequence looked like 2 for Parris
Haters gonna hate. But no one can dispute results.
Steveson is a stall machine
Yea parris needs to rewatch and get better
Coltyn Abbott Parris stalled more, he had less shots. 🙄
He is Daniel cormier style!
He’s better wrestler than Daniel Cormier.
Minnesota guy was definitely stalling.
Gable outclasses Parris. The table saved another takedown, but this was complete domination.
Dantheman can’t believe how close that table was setup. Just watched it again, the other sides of mat had more room to sprawl for a TD. Idiots whoever set that up....🙄
@@tdavidg9176 Yes.. not legal distance of 5ft.
Complete domination is a stretch. Gable could have easily been hit with another stall in the 3rd period, which would have had this match going into SV. The big difference between the two was the decisiveness that Gable shows on his shots. He picks his spot and commits to it, and drives through the take down. Parris got in deep on 3 occasions with his shot, deeper than anyone has against Gable, but stalled out. Had he been more decisive (burst through my old coach called it) with those 3 shots, its a completely different match. See the deep shot in the First period by Mason...He basically stopped when he got the ankle. Had he burst through, he would have taken Gable down.
DJ AB easier said than done, take away the stupid table being closer than 5 feet and Gable has another TD in this one. He wrestled a smart match. Mason has made an impressive stride from last season though.
Chester
NO MASON WHY
He’ll never touch gable
Did Stevenson slap Parris💀
Anybody else think that college heavyweights look like that one 40 year old guy at the gym that you are pretty sure cycles steroids?
Do you think maybe they need to move the table away from the action???
Gable shld of been called again for stalling and been 7-7 into OT.
John Smith 😭😭😭😭
Lol use your environment to escape 😂 no take down
