    i can recommend a tennis racket for the sand flies ;) . loved the bee close up.. Have to ask why you camp when there was a hut next to you xx

    • @ShelbyandJordan
      @ShelbyandJordan  2 года назад

      Hahah!! We definitely need one of the fly rackets😂 Pretty sure we camped because we hadn't camped in while, and it was cheaper, lol xx

    Beautiful. On the TA you guys seemed to stay in huts when you could. Curious why you chose to tent it. Hope you can repair the mesh. Those sand flies seem crazy 😬.

      @ShelbyandJordan  2 года назад

      Thankyou for watching! We did use the hut system alot on trail, and we loved it! Only reason we don't do it so much now is due to our hut pass running out, and alot of the hut prices have gone up with us being in the hiking season, we do really enjoy camping though, especially now we don't do quite as much, and yes! The sandflies are insane at the moment!!

    What a beautiful video !!!Thank you so much for sharing this one. I had been to the place before . Will you tell me about the camping sites? I heard that we can put up the tent just near the hut .But you did on the field , on the river . It is possible ? Thanks a lot from a Korean guys.

    • @ShelbyandJordan
      @ShelbyandJordan  2 года назад

      Aww thankyou so much💗 It's such a beautiful hike! You can definitely put your tent up near the huts, but normally DOC will charge you a small fee to camp there and use the hut facilities, but if you didn't want to do that, you can pretty much camp anywhere else along the trail, just not with in the Lake Crucible basin and I think on farm land🤔 But apart from that, we definitely prefer wild camping, just anywhere with flat ground really, hope this helps! Thankyou for your comment!

      Thankyou so much for watching! It's such a beautiful place😍 And no, all the camping was totally free, you only need to pay for a pass, if you plan on staying in huts😊

    can u tell us what your total backpack weight was and any gear u recommend

    • @ShelbyandJordan
      @ShelbyandJordan  Год назад +1

      I am so sorry for such a slow reply!! I can't fully remember our backpack weight for this exact trip, but it's usually around 8/9kg, and with gear we always try to stay as lightweight as possible for the most reasonable price, I'd definitely recommend taking a pack liner, to make sure everything in your bag stays dry, sandfly repellent is always good too, and probably some gaiters, to keep all the grass seeds etc out, and we also took a water filter too, hope this helps😊

  • @hikingzone

    How much food and water did you guys take ...
    And where did you park ur car ???

    • @ShelbyandJordan
      @ShelbyandJordan  2 года назад +2

      We took 4 days of food/snacks, and about 2L of water each per day😊 Then we parked at the start of the Young Valley, there's a little car park there, saves walking the extra 1hr+ from Blue Pools
