      Agreed, this was as graceful of a loss acceptance by a fan that I have ever seen. Fully blames his own team and gives kudos to the pats. GG Atlanta, maybe we will see you next year.

      It really is rather typical reaction of a Falcon fan. My reaction was similar. When he stated "I can't believe but I can" I said the same thing.

    • @coolworx
      @coolworx 7 лет назад +7

      Twice? You're just a yougin'
      I watched my Patriots get mauled by Bears then squashed by a Fridge.
      And then I watched Desmond F'n Howard run back the 2nd half kickoff, to lead Farve's Cheeseheads to victory.
      I'm 9 days away from 50 years old. I remember Bucky fucking Dent (I was in 6th grade - listening to the Red Sox on a transistor radio in class) . I remember the Bill Buckner bungle (I was in Army basic training at Ft. Benning). I know sports fan pain.

      Not a lot of free agents this year, lots of rookies and second years on defense. They'll want to get paid in the next couple years, though. We'll re-up Ryan, Trufant and Freeman, and hope to get a ring in the next couple years before we can't afford everyone.

      I live an hour drive to Foxboro and been a Pats fan way back when all we did was lose. Can I just say, Atlanta fans have so much class and the Falcons are so skilled with class. Atlanta has proved they are such a great team and I will root for them in the next season for the NFC side. May we have a SBLII rematch!!! Much respect, from New England.

      Completely agree. Wouldn't be shocked if Falcons go 6-10 next year. How you don't run the ball 3 times after Julio catch with 4min left and kick a FG is coaching 101. Pat's could not move the ball down the field and make up 11 pts in 3 minutes. Quinn and Shanahan are unfit coaches.

    As a Pats fan, I'm not one to gloat, and I do feel your pain. According to Wikipedia, if there's one thing these two teams now have in common, they both lost their first two Superbowls. I was in high school when the Pats defeated the Miami Dolphins in the AFC ("Squish the Fish!"), only to lose to the Chicago Bears in Superbowl XX (we had to face William "The Refrigerator" Perry). We lost again to the Packers in XXXI, and the Falcons lost their first Superbowl (XXXIII) to the Denver Broncos. It took 42 years for the Patriots to win their first Superbowl (XXXVI), and they've grown a lot in the 15 years since. If anything, the Patriots have simply raised the bar on so many levels in Superbowl LI - a historic comeback from a 25-point deficit, with overtime to boot. This is the stuff of legend, and, for other teams like the Atlanta Falcons, something to learn from out of pure respect.

    Falcon Fan: I feel your pain, believe me.. my wife and I have been rabid Pats fans since we married in 1971, and for thirty years we suffered along with the "Patsies" as they were known then, year after year of being the NFL doormats, the butt of football jokes, hopeless losers... then suddenly, Brady and Belichick happened, and our days of football fan pain were ended, so please understand that as Patriots fans, we paid our dues big time, and we have been blessed for the last 16 years. All dynasties come to an end as the Tom Landry Cowboys did, and the Don Shula Dolphins, the Chuck Knoll Steelers, etc etc, and the Brady/Belichick dynasty will also end, so cut us some slack for enjoying our years of Patriots glory. The next dynasty? Could very well be the Falcons, so keep the faith. If someone had told me in 1990 that the Patriots would soon become one of the all-time great NFL franchises, I would have laughed my ass off, so hang in there buddy- and when the Falcons DO eventually reach their glory days, you'll bathe in the glory as we have, and YOU will have to deal with your team being hated by the rest of the country, jealous of your team's winning ways. Such is the price of success.

    I don't know if I would have been able to handle this as well as you. Sorry one of the teams had to lose. I'm a huge Sevendust fan so if the Pats were going to lose, I could have lived with Atlanta. Your team is young and will have more chances.

    As a Saints fan, I know choke the past 10 years. We've choked at least three times in the playoffs where we had super bowl type squads. But I wouldn't trade all of them for as bad as this choke was.
    We gave up the Minneapolis miracle, the Alex Smith tecmo bowl play, the ref screw job vs the Rams... But those games were all close. I don't know if I could have ever gotten over if the Saints were ahead of the Colts 28-3 in the 3rd quarter of our Super Bowl and lost. I honestly don't know if I could have ever watched another game. Respect to you for handling it with class. Much better than I would have done. Who Dat.

  • @TheAudioman15
    @TheAudioman15 7 лет назад +28

    From another Pats fan, that WAS very classy indeed! Right down to the point where you went "Nah, that's a touchdown". Empathize with you guys, we once went unbeaten and then promptly lost the Superbowl. The most gut wrenching of any loss ever that. But, on the bright side, this Falcons team will mature a little bit next year and things can only get better for them. Very odd saying that, given your team just went to the superbowl. But you have a terrific QB and a good young team around him. Not sure how many of these players you will get to keep. Well played. Hard luck! On the bright side, you lost to the GOAT. No shame in that.

Particularly those spewing their jealousy and hate all over Facebook! Most of them are worse than spoiled little brats, throwing temper tantrums when they don't get their way! Especially galling has been the haters' unsupported, illogical comments regarding the whole overblown, unsubstantiated, "Deflategate" fiasco! I hope each one of them is choking big time over this fantastic comeback win, by probably the greatest team ever, in all of sports over such a long period of time (16 years)! GO PATRIOTS!!! I felt absolutely fantastic and exhausted after the win, being a Patriot fan. But I didn't feel the need to rub it in like I wanted to with the Seahawks. Unlike them, I felt a little bad seeing the Falcons owner on the sideline looking sicker as the 4th quarter went on. And unlike the Seahawks, where I don't like any of the players, the coach, or the fans; I have respect for the fans, coaches and most of the players of the Falcons. It was a great game..I hope jones gets a ring tho.

    Thank you for accepting the loss and becoming understanding fans. Don't get me wrong, you guys gave us hell in the first half. But with a young team on your side, there are lots of lessons to be learned and an experience to take consideration of. Keep on getting better and I have a feeling that you guys will make a comeback. Believe me, I respect the hell out of your team as a Patriots fan.

    2014, pats ended the legion of boom.
    2016, ended the would be dynasty of the falcons led by the mvp and the no. 1 wr of the nfl and fell to oblivion the following years.
    2018 stopped the raging rams who’ve fallen so far below because they paid all their star and the one chance they had was stopped by the pats
    Ladies and gentlemen, new england patriots.

    I've been a Pats fan since 1988 when they were the league's doormat. I've known some awful losses and I hope that fans like you are rewarded with an amazing victory, compensation for all those "I can't believe it, but I can believe it" moments. You are my kind of fan and although it's been some years now since that night, my heart goes out to you. May your Falcons reach the top for you, my friend.

      Randy Ventresca True. Hope you're wrong, such an exciting team and revenge can be a great motivator (as Brady showed). I'm a Pats fan, btw. Still not sure that really happened Sunday night. Even Belichick said he had to watch it the next morning to make sure it was real.

    As a Pats fan who lives in Atlanta, much respect. I've watched a few of these videos, and you show a lot of class. Anybody but the Pats and I would have been rooting for the Falcons. Been in your shoes with the two losses to the Giants, especially 2007 where we should have smoked them.

    Now this was the classiest Falcon fan that took the loss while holding his head high. He kept his wits and kept everything in perspective and was generous to his Patriot fan that was at his place. Maybe Superbowl 52 will be your year. You have a young team of players and they'll bounce right back.

    Another sympathetic Pats fan here. After watching the Falcons soundly beat Seattle I immediately picked the Falcons to beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. That's not what I wanted, but I was certain of it. They looked hungry, tough, fast, and talented, and they are. It took a miracle to beat them in SB LI and as long as they can somehow get over this loss they will have their day.
    Trust me, any Patriots fan who remembers the Tyree catch feels for Atlanta and their fans even as we celebrate the team we're currently blessed with.

    much respect to this guy for posting this video in spite of this most likely being one the most painful moments of his adult life and especially since he started recording in belief that this would be Atlanta's moment. It makes you wonder how many Atlanta fans recorded themselves but then deleted the video instead of posting it and all the crazy freakouts across America that unfolded that fateful day that we never got to see
