I think you should be wearing a respirator sir? gel coat, fiberglass, resin dust is abrasive. You don't want it in your air ways. Blood in mucus is a good sign that you've inhaled way to much.

2:40 Wouldn't a belt sander be better for the initial rough sanding? It should take the fiberglass down faster since it's got a larger sanding area...then finish feathering it out with the orbital sander...
