I actually read a story about that scene that apparently ( since John was directing) he had had to get a little pushy on another scene they’d been shooting either that day or the day before and Emily had to pull him away to say “Hey, this is affecting, me, Emily, not just the character now” and he wrote the dance in as a sort of apology and to let her know she was heard. Dunno how much is true of that, tho.
