Sarah, I watch all of your videos. This is without a doubt one of your best. Your passion just oozes out, especially in the last 5 minutes. Unless you are some well trained actress, I can tell you truly care about your career, your business, your clients and your students.
I agree completely on what you said about college. You should look up what Gary V. said about college in 50 years. I agree. I think college as we know it today will become a place you go to for specialized careers and that's it. The days of going to college just to get a degree with the hopes of getting a job anywhere and coming out deep in debt will be a thing of the past. I welcome it.
Anyways, I loved this video. I am going to watch it once more. I have had a weird morning and your positive attitude makes me feel better about things.

Yes, so true about college. There is a good documentary out there called "Borrowed Future". It's certainly worth seeing. Yes, and thanks again to Sarah for the encouragement!

There are just so many opportunities these days than there were in the past. I don’t want anyone to settle for less than they truly want out of life. Limiting beliefs hold so many people back, and they don’t have to! I’m so glad you enjoyed this video. Thank you for watching!

I have been so down on myself lately bc I've been studying copywriting and I've bought several courses .I'm still not a copywriter. Everything you said about not having to go to college ,opened my eyes. I've always felt less than because I do not have that education. I am about to accept a job I do not want because we need another income to pay all the bills. I will double down on studying now. Thank you for your supportive video.❤

Thanks, Sarah. I won first prize for an essay but, as a homeschooler trying to get kids to write was definitely coming down to a smaller level. While I don't have a degree, I also love to research and write and am a proofreader. Kids are bright, interesting, and simple. They are always in the present. Thinking like them helps because they are so honest. I think we learned a lot by just writing about some of their experiences. To me writing directly to people is key to copywriting.

Yes, remembering there’s a certain type of person you’re writing directly to is important when writing copy. And knowing about that person - their goals, fears, etc. - is the key to writing effectively. Thanks for watching!

What a fantastic video! Thank you Sarah for sharing your insight, I really value your videos ( especially since I can’t afford your course) and take notes every time. I completely agree with you and believe now is the time to switch the narrative when it comes to education!

I am one of those who obtained a degree that made me think I was a decent writer. However, I definitely have concerns about being a good copywriter. I can proofread and edit like a champ, but copywriting is more challenging. I am leaning toward being a proofreader for copywriters. With you as a mentor, the sky is the limit! I know I will be successful one way or another. Thanks for all you do!

Yes, the most important thing to remember is that you get to decide what you love doing. You can become great at anything if you put in the time to learn and practice it. And there are so many opportunities these days - you can choose what works for you! I’m so happy to have you in our community! :)

That's what we need more of in this world, people who are willing to do their own Ted Talk on their RUclips channel...Awesome sauce!!!
    Seriously though!
Do you think age is a factor in your ability to learn copywriting?
I'm 58 and I've always enjoyed writing and books on astrology, psychology and self help!

Thank you so much! And age doesn't really play a role here. I have students who are in high school and others who are well into retirement. Any season of life is a good time to start a copywriting career!

I love writing and love the idea of working from anywhere.. I definitely have all the skills you mentioned in the video. I just not sure where to start. I'm not working right now. You mentioned learning and earning. How do I get into that? Thank you very much for the video. It was very informative.

As always, fantastic post. Very informative and encouraging. I would like to humbly add that, personally, I think that knowing how to write English (or whatever language a person works in) IS important. But denigrating copywriting as "poor writing" is actually to exclude it from the field of writing. It is indeed a specialized form of writing, as you so eloquently show. It actually seems to blend the field of writing with applied psychology as well as advertising, marketing, and sales. Just as academic and scholarly writing and editing or content writing, etc., have their rules and guidelines, so does copywriting. Just my thoughts. Thanks again for your amazing content.

The thing is, copywriting is a skill people can learn and develop like anything else. You don’t have to start out great to work your way to become great. That’s also one of the many reasons why having an editor is so important. You learn so much from having someone help you edit and proofread your work. Thanks so much for watching!

Where can we get feedback for copywriting if we have no Clients?

    • @SarahTurnerAgency
      @SarahTurnerAgency  2 года назад +1

There are quite a few Facebook groups where new copywriters discuss copy and opportunities. These are great places to make new copywriting friends who you can trade copy with for feedback.

Hey Sarah you have great content about this industry, but what about AI.. ?
In future what do you think is going to change .. ? Because i read a lot of info about this, like AI is gonna take 80 90 % of remote work including copywriting...!!
Want to hear your point... ??
    Thank you !

    • @SarahTurnerAgency

I would encourage you to check out AI programs like ChatGPT. Because once you poke around in them, you’ll see their limitations pretty easily.
They’ll probably replace people who are doing low-quality content on platforms like Upwork or Fiverr. But they will not replace high-quality copywriters. In fact, they’ll be a wonderful tool for brainstorming ideas, fleshing out outlines, and things like that.
As you grow as a copywriter you’ll need to also know strategy, and you’ll become a marketing strategist. This career is always about increasing your skill set and staying adaptable. Because the world of digital marketing has always been shifting. This is just yet another example of how that happens.

“I have no respect for a man who can spell a word only one way.” Mark Twain
I studied fiction writing. Whenever poor grammar friend catches me in a grammar mistake, my response is: “I’m a fiction writer; you are a nurse practitioner (or whatever). I have creative license; when you do it, it’s just wrong.”

Things like autocorrect only know so much! “Perfect” grammar can definitely take out some of the meaning behind our copy.

Yeah right one doesn't need to be Shakespeare to become a copywriter. Copywriting is a multi dimensional skills which requires the art of closing, selling, psychology and persuasion tactics. So personally i feel a copywriter can be a good writer but a writer cannon be good copywriter if he or she is not armed and eqipped with the above mentioned areas of expertise.

The answer is NO. If you're not interested in writing, you shouldn't contemplate of making a career in copywriting. Copywriting, infact, involves some amount of creativity weaved with marketing and psychology.
