Bulk terminal capacity. Do you know the true potential of your terminal? Bulk terminals constantly face various challenges such as maintaining revenue generation, understanding the maximum capacity and improving operational processes and productivity for the future demand. Possible strategies are the terminal for answering challenges, maybe improving current operational processes or providing additional services or redesigning or expanding the terminal. To support the decision making, simulation can be used because it can cope with stochastic elements and it quantifies measurable key performance indicators. In this way, various options can be compared systematically to make a sound strategy. This following movie is a case study of a grain export terminal. The objectives of the study are to validate the investment plan and to understand the maximum capacity of the terminal the simulation shows various operational processes at the terminal. In this way, bottlenecks are identified and, based on this, improvement measures can be applied. The approach and the key performance indicators output such as berth occupancy, vessel waiting times, service level and equipment utilization can be read in the article [link in description]. In the article, you can read how we [TBA] successfully helped the terminal in improving their plan and their understanding the true potential of their terminal with hard data. TBA provides a dynamic simulation to support design engineering of high-value facilities by assessing solutions, comparing handling systems, identifying bottlenecks and determining the performance and capacity of a facility.
