I lived 18 years of my life in the Philippines but never had a chance to see Taal volcano. But according to books there’s a very tiny freshwater sardine that is only found in that lake called tawilis. Tawilis is described as the best tasting sardine but unfortunately are almost or already extinct. Next time I go back home I’ll definitely go and see y’all lake and volcano when the time comes that I want to endure the extremely long flight.

I also had an entire week dealing with jet lag, not to mention the sharp stabbing pain I endured for the entire week.

As a person who actually lives in tagaytay Philippines the correct way to present is "its a small island inside of a small lake which is inside of small volcano which is part of an island who has even more volcanos which is inside of a lake which is made from a giant prehistoric volcano which is also technically inside a bigger island which in coincidence is also the largest island of Philippines,Luzon"

Taal just became active again and spewed ash recently. Everyone from the main island was evacuated and the ash residues reached far and wide. I believe the water is currently not safe so swimming there will be prohibited. I visit the place as much as I can because of the beauty of it and the food there is amazing.. 😊

😊 In Jan 2018, a few months before Taal volcano's eruption, I had the challenging experience of a 5-km uphill mountain trek from the lakeshore of volcano Island to the main crater lake followed by a relaxing swim to and from Vulcan point island . The downhill return trek was physically tougher because you had to fight gravity and exhaustion. But the mental challenge was even more brutal because, while you struggle through extreme exhaustion, a man with a horse keeps on following you as he repeatedly offers a relief ride for P500 [$10] --- with dramatically increasing discounts as you progress😅. The triumphant return was so exhilarating 🎉😊
