I used to view minimalism as as having the least amount of things possible. But overtime I had to reframe my thinking to minimalism as being intentional. You are right, it really is about finding balance and what works for you.

You can buy some plates at the thrift store so you have a few more. I have mismatched dishes that I got handed down to me from my grandma and I love them so much I’ll use them forever until they break 😭 I was just at the thrift store so I only say that because I saw a ton of dishes and kitchen ware there!

I've been a minimalist for over a decade. The interesting thing that Ive learned living in a hyperconsuming culture, is that minimalism comes with judgement, BUT, it's not usually from others. Infact, I put a lot of guilt & shame on myself, even though no friends or family have any begative opinions of my minimslist ways. Often, I'm assuming others are "tsk-tsking" about my outfit, my simple meals, my boring decor, etc, when, infact, they are not! It's me! that's shaming myself!
Hold your head high, girl! In situations requiring a fancy outfit, let down that gorgeous head of hair! Put on that 1 pair of fancy earings, or wrap that one beautiful scarf around your shoulders, hold your head high, abd SMILE! Noone will judge you negatively for your outfit.
When you don't have enough plates and a family member brings you some, BE that CLASSY GAL, and thank them, give them a hug, and tell them you appreciate their generosity.
All these years later, those I assumed were judging me, were actually just kind of processing my ability to "do my thing" and be so confident in my convictions.
We impress others, not by what we own, but by how we behave with what we own.🇨🇦♥️

I think it’s very true what you said about judgement. People will judge you no matter what you do, so you do you and stay true to yourself and your values. Take care and all the best to you in 2025!

These days, RUclips is the only platform I really use. As I get older, I find myself enjoying other social media platforms less and less. For fun, I love spending time with my little family, enjoying good food, and relaxing with a movie or show.

@ exactly me!! I just deleted all social media 4 days ago and it feels really peaceful. I love spending time with my little family as well ❤️😊.

I think its important as someone who is a minimalist to have colours in your things, so u are not bored. Just a reminder: Minimalism is not an aesthetic u dont have to buy black and white

As you were speaking about high quality dishes, I was thinking about how my husband and I purchased a nice little set from Target. They have lasted us 10 years and still look nice. Wanted to mention it, just in case you wanted to take a look at what they have when you are ready to purchase. 💗

one of my biggest issues is not appreciating gifts. I feel like a bad person, but I hate receiving gifts that I didn't ask for! (and my in-laws buy us things all the time)
Not that far into the video so I don't know if you'll mention it

    Hi Kyra ,
You can ask guests to fetch a plate 🍽️ & cutlery 🍴 & a chair
Take a door off & pop it over your table throw over a cloth 👍
We do this at Xmas x

Love the last point about decluttering too fast. All those videos about doing it in a few hours or "this method makes it super easy!" are just so not it. 😂 Decluttering properly really does take a lot of time, you have to detach yourself from so many things that you realize you don't even have a good reason for being attached to. Plus I don't want to bring all that clutter back in again, so it's important to be clear about why I'm getting rid of something. A youtube video where someone agonizes over a neon slip dress they love but never wear for 3 months would be more accurate.😂😂😂

I think being minimalist now a days it’s for smart people. Cause nobody wants to stop and think wait I can make another thing with my money. Not only just buy stuff all the time and have a lot of clutter in the house. That’s a really poor way of living.
