i live in the town where they filmed this. In fact my mom actually was able to watch the talent show scene from her classroom because she was a teacher at the highschool they filmed it at and her classroom was right outside of the room

Very underrated movie! Such a fun, funny, touching, and heartwarming film with endearing characters and an an amazing all-star cast. Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler have such good chemistry together and should do more movies together. Really great acting, especially by Ben Affleck and Raquel Castro.
I agree with you. There should’ve been a sequel to this wonderful flick. If there was a sequel, we should see Gertie somewhere in college and university and her date a new guy. Tell me what you think of the plot hole

You know for me I like Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler in the movie of Armageddon better, and even though they are in this movie too it's almost like it's Daredevil/Matt Murdock a.k.a. Batman/Bruce Wayne and Betty Ross going out again on another date or having another relationship.

I watched it years ago and was just reminded of it a couple minutes ago. I had forgotten the title so i literally just googled "film where jennifer lopez dies during childbirth" and it popped up. I also just realized how young and handsome Ben was... Damn.

Genuinely loved this movie and it’s truly amazing how a woman ( Liv Tyler ) can come into a mans life and make a person feel alive inside again. A+

Whats crazy is that they talk about the Bat mobile, have a movie case for batman and with Ben playing batman it makes it seem like it was just fate.
Clayton Baker it was Kevin Smith who wrote and directed the movie and he is a super geek. the name Oliver is a reference to Oliver Queen (which Kevin Smith also wrote a comic of). So the answer to the batmobile reference is right there
they talk about batman in every kevin smith thing.

I remember my mom and aunt taking me my sisters and cousins to see this film when I was eleven going on 12 and we went to see it a day before we went to Disneyland and I think this movie and advertently exposed me to Kevin Smith.

Happy 20th Anniversary to this lovely romantic dramedy! One of my favourite romantic comedies from Miramax since Beautiful Girls with Timothy Hutton. I also find this better than The Family Man with Nicolas Cage

I was an extra in that opening scene, Christmas Party. (Filmed at Top of the Tower in downtown Philadelphia.) Started around 6:30pm on a Sept. 2002 Friday night, ended just after dawn Sat. morning. In the end when the movie finally came out, A LOT was edited out from that Xmas Party scene!

From 2002-2006 on a certain day a grad classmate of mine named Carla Wortman, a lady named Joanne, and I would get together by going bowling at the Moncton Fairlanes on Mountain Road, to Arby's where I would get chicken fingers, fries and a Coke, and go to their house to watch TV on their Samsung TV and there was a little girl named Brittany (?') who liked to tell knock knock jokes and jump rope and Brittany (?) sounded like the little girl in Jersey Girl and they later got a poodle mix and named her after my first Border Collie.
Moral of the story: When you brought your gf into the bathroom, always lock the door!!!

It's not that classic. There is another older film also called Jersey Girl which doesn't have Ben Afleck in it.
froggy8030 yes some movies mutually share the same title. For instance, Bad Boys with Will Smith is different from the other Bad Boys with Sean Penn and Paul Haggis’ Crash is different from the one directed by David Cronenberg.
