On your website it seems the 360c is the best in huge part due to the automatic lockouts: "On the other hand, if you’re a more casual driver looking for a pretty automated detector, go for the Escort Max 360c. Range is still sufficient for most situations, but now you also get automatic GPS lockouts."
I'm definitely a casual driver, I have the Uniden R3 and was waiting for automatic lockouts to upgrade to the R7. Need a definitive answer on which to buy. Spend my money, please! (or release another comparison video ASAP :))

Nice I am happy for the K-block2. I was on a 1000-mile road trip last week and got stuck with an Acura rabbit at 24.168hz. That feature would have been nice to have. Auto-lockouts are cool too but I have found with even basic mute memory I have to expand the points too as the K-band range of the R7 exceeds the lockout area radius

I have this issue with my r3, I’ll lock out a speed sign and if I come back around and I’m further away from it the radar will alert me and once I get closer it’ll go into mute. Either way I’ve been waiting for this update to hit the r7 since it was the only reason I didn’t pick it up already.
I had the same issues with GPS manual memory mutes and it seemed to me that the distance from the "alert" isn't big enough of a distance before it kicked in.

Had my first Auto GPS Lockout this morning. Only took 1 week. Lol
Been waiting for this for a long time at least they are working on updates I am sure they will have it down in the next release. No radar is perfect but I believe with every update they are getting closer. Just need better undetectable features as well for those states and Canada 🇨🇦 where you need to be 🥷 stealth

I don't know if you noticed that in your trials, but on the video I noticed that frequency changes on the display right after it goes gray.
You know how frequency reading does change as you get a stronger signal. Maybe auto lockout is treating it as a separate incident... 🤔

Great work! The only firmware on uniden website was posted 1/5/2021 which is a database update. Should I update the database first then the 1.35 update? Or go straight to 1.35. Thanks. I got the 1.35 from your site. Uniden don't have 1.35 posted.

I've ran it for a day in heavy traffic and it's noticeably quieter. I have my K at 50% in Advanced mode.

@@VortexRadar As you mentioned Vortex. I think it might even be on the same level as Redline 360c with filtering now. I also love the fact that Uniden gave us "weak" option for both K blocks, genius.
Any word on if/when that extra K-block segment will be coming to the R1/R3?

They were saying they would do auto lockouts for the R3 too. We got burned. They want us to spend more money on their products. I will wait for the Radenso Theia at this point.
Do you have a link to where they said it would come to the R3? As far as I can remember, they’ve been clear from the very beginning that the R3 doesn’t have enough memory to support autolockouts.
So glad they implemented K block for 24.167, Jeeps are the worst offenders imo. I also think they should add a Quiet ride over/High speed muting setting, I would rather a quiet ride be enabled over a certain speed than under it, reason being is that I am more likely to get a legitimate K band signal under say 50mph than over it

My R7 hasn't been updated to 1.35 yet and it has the same issue with the lockouts not muting until you get closer. That is one of the annoyances with the detector for me. So its not just with the autolockout, its with the mute memory I think in general. There is a speed sign close to my house that I have added to mute memory, and it will alert me every time coming and going until I get about 150yards from the sign and then it will mute and remained muted.

Ok, so quick question....with the latest updates, which would you run, the V1G2 or the updated R7? I am assuming the Redline is still your number one because of it's automated features/updates.
The one dislike is from a valentine user.
I updated to 1.35, and I noticed something interesting that I didn't expect. On my normal journey to work, I've never manually locked out K falses because I could never verify that it was indeed false until the signal died down, and having never seen a police officer during the duration of the alert. However, I noticed immediately on the first day to work with this update that couple signals had already been auto locked out. So I wonder if the detector had already been "aware" of these signals already built-in from the beginning, and then was simply fully activated with 1.35.
Do you have a setup video for the R8? This help but a R8 specific video would be better. I have been watching you comparison videos and pulled trigger on the R8 Saturday. It saved Sunday night , the ticket would have been atheist 1/3 the cost of the unit. Thanks for the informative videos.
P.S. now looking into laser jammers.
Using download tool v1.4 on my mac and it reads my unit when plugged it, but when i go to download file open... nothing happens. Please help!
So for update issues, heading to the forum is best.

I was able to update last night. Seems much quieter. Didn’t hear one blind spot false at all from Hondas on the 50 mile commute to work.

I already had the download software. I just downloaded the file loaded the file into the software connect the detector and installed software.

this will definitely be useful. I have a lot of car dealerships and stores with automatic doors in the town over from me (where i spend a lot of time), so im curious to see how this auto lockout works.
Had the same issue with static lockouts. Also please tell uniden to tweak the mute. Currently you have to let "her" quit talking until the mute is honored. Want instant shut up button, not mash until voice is done.
That auto lockout problem has nothing to do with the auto update. Both my R3 and R7 have done exactly what you're describing since day one. There's a local supermarket located at a crossroads in this little village, that I live in, that has a K-Band door opener. At first, I hit the mute buttons on them twice, right at the store. I quickly found out that right at the store was the only place that the lockouts worked. I had to drive down all 4 roads, turn around and hit the mute button twice as soon as the radar detectors alerted to keep them from falseing.

I don’t see a download link to the v135 firmware. The last database update it shows on the Uniden website is 1/5/21, which is v133.141.13. Has Uniden posted the v135 firmware to its site or did they just send a beta to you? If it on the site, where is it? Thanks. Keep up the great videos.

I've had this same issue with manual GPS memory. It seems to me the radius of the signal is too small.
Meh, I can live with it. Still more usable than when escort released its R360c and it was essentially a 800 dollar paper weight for a couple of weeks.

How in the world were you able to get the suction cups to actually stick on the frits (dotted dots above the rear view mirror)?
The frits in my car are embedded within the glass, not stuck onto it.

What's the big difference between k block on and weak? Why do you like weak better on k block 1 and k block 2 than having on? can you post the best settings to run and what you happened to use

Maybe the GPS chip isnt good enough to support 100% accuracy like the company thought it would. Always a possibility. But I don’t know if that’s even arguable because the R3 for manual lock outs are solid. Maybe it’s a software issue.
2:15 Vortex, question regarding auto lockouts. Does this add an additional lockout to the total number of lockouts or overwrite/update the previous GPS lockout for that location? This could quickly fill up the total number of lockouts available.
I'm assuming that it'll be considered an extra lockout. The R7 stores up to 12,000 autolockouts though, way more than manual lockouts, so I don't think that running out of lockouts would be as big of an issue.

I just updated to v135 and put the kblk 1 and 2 on weak. I found that combined with auto mute lockouts really quieted it a lot! As a side note I found that some locations with speed cameras in my area which have had them a long time are not in the database. Who can I contact so they are in a database? Just message uniden support?
I did the latest update and my R7's no longer detect red-light cameras. Yes, the option is turned on.

K block sounds good, but it's hardly used in my locale. I just tune it back to 30% on my R3. Price on the R7 is starting to look better though.

It can technically detect it, but not in a way that'll reliably help you avoid tickets. This is true for pretty much every RD. That's why you need laser jammers and Waze.

Every detector I've owned with GPS lockouts always had this issue. They alert and then silence when they hit the actual lock out location, its frustrating but not exclusive to Uniden.
Updates not for Aus or NZ. I wonder why?
Anyone know how to make the Uniden R7 to stop saying "Auto Mute" out loud when for auto lockouts. Defeats the purpose. In this video auto mute comes on quietly.

I had the same lock ou it issue with my original max 360 and decided to stick with my R3. I dont feel like it's as big of an issue as you elude to.
My RD refuses to be updated using either apple or MS. It really irks me.
I figured it out, I was missing the actual installer. I had to look at some older updates on the firmware screen that had the actual installer. That allowed me to install the database update, then the new, update.
Not very surprising. The manual lockouts work the same way. I have to lock out the same signal multiple times and it will often still alert for a few seconds before finally auto muting.
hey i just bought an r7 and updated to 135, how do i have the detector to do those auto lockouts? do i have to change the settings?

My Escort Redline EX sometimes gives the alert and then locks out the signal. So, it isn't perfect in the competition.
Escort has the same issue with the IX IC, the distance for the lockout varies and keeps alerting on auto lockouts
