In this video, you will understand the key difference between RPN (Risk Priority Number) and AP (Action Priority) as per FMEA: AIAG-VDA 1st Edition.
The purpose of an FMEA process is to continuously improve the process to reduce risks. The FMEA is of course a living document and will be re-evaluated many times during its lifecycle, and each new revision will show changes in the risk analysis. But how do you determine which risks demand immediate action?
The Risk Priority Number (RPN) or Action Priority (AP) is the most common way to assign the criticality. The key objective of the Action Priority (AP) or Risk Priority Number (RPN) is to prioritize the failure so that suitable actions can be planned, productivity can be improved and customer satisfaction can be enhanced. The first focus is on Severity, followed by Occurrence and Detection.

Thanks for your response. Hopefully soon.
Sir, please discuss FMECA in respect of composite material FMECA pertaining to aiborne structure, Radome structure and Tank hull structure etc.
Dear Paath, Thanks for your query. Hopefully soon.
What's is the acceptance value of RPN it means min and maximum value how to define in pfmea
In PFMEA 4th edition, there is NO guidelines for RPN having minimum or maximum. Based on the Severity and customer requirement, the organisation can decide the priority for taking action
Case1 - S=8 but rpn =32
Case 2 - S=4 but rpn =124
Then which should be action taken on???
Dear Aditya, Thanks for sharing your query. The RPN was calculated in the previous version while the new version came in 2019 which is talking about Action Priority and not RPN.
When Sis not 9 or 10, the next priority is Occurence
DFSS me detail me video banahiye
Thanks for the suggestion. Hopefully soon Atul

Severity ky h sir 😩😩
Dear Neeraj, Thanks for your query. Severity means the possible impact of something wrong happens. Example: If someone falls from 5th floor, what will be the severity of the accident. Or if the brake of the car fails, what will be the impact.
