Seeing you thirst over Jamie is just about the most relatable thing I've seen on the internet lately.
This is one of my favorite episodes of the show ❤

I appreciate your passionate and truthful reactions especially with this series. Claire and Jamie are one of the biggest and best couples on TV.
This beginning is so special, I understand their feeling is something so intimate that we feel privileged to be able to see their love.
Claire and Jamie's first kiss after years impossible not to cry. will leave the scene comical which I did not expect but is a welcome surprise.
It was important for them to stop and tell each other what happened in the years they were apart. them talking about the kids always messing with me especially when Faith is mentioned. I think the respect they have for the life they each lived separately is beautiful.
The wonderful parallel with their first time that before they had sex they sat down and met and talked about their lives. what had to be done again if they recognized again after all it was years apart they needed it. At the beginning of awkward sex they were embarrassed and uncomfortable because yes they are different, understandable the awkwardness they had. But it's Claire and Jamie they have history so they will pick up again at their passionate pace. we are voyeurs.
On purpose they make us think Jamie is married or involved with some woman. but he keeps secrets that Claire will soon learn after this desperate ending.
Fergus my love, looking forward to seeing you see the development of this character and a new couple that we will have thanks to him. Young Ian the character is awesome you will love him.
Thank you Evie for this emotionally visceral reaction. I like to see how much Claire and Jamie really mess with you.

IMHO, of the dozens produced over the years, Evie Reacts is the best OL reaction series. In fact, by its charm alone, I believe this simple reaction series rivals even the very best full-blown pod/video production; Mary and Blake's Outlandercast. And with this 'A Malcom,' reaction the bar has been elevated even just that much higher. This is a GREAT 'tearful' Reaction to a wonderful episode!

I was so excited for you to see Fergus. I love him so much. And I forgot Young Ian was in this one. He is such a great character, too! As you can tell so far, Claire and Jamie hardly have a chance to breathe with everything going on. It will be a while… they are headed on quite an adventure.

I love the way they ended the last ep and how they started this one... Like you said, let's go back and see where we left off in the previous episode with Claire. It's very well done.
It's like the weeding episode in season 1, which is also not in the order of events but in the end everything works out and it's beautiful to see.

As much as I love Claire and Jamie in this episode and don't get me wrong I LOVE all the reunion parts
Every time I watch it (or read this part of the book) I ADORE The reactions of the boys, Fergus and Young Ian both.
Fergus has the shock of getting the closest thing he ever had to a mother "back from the dead" and he's just thrilled to see her again
And then there's Young Ian who's only heard the stories of who Claire was and this shell of Jamie is the only way he's ever seen his uncle now he "Sassenach Fairy" Aunt has returned, and even though it's insane and un expected he just takes it happily in stride

    NAMES
Another thing to think of is what Jamie has lost out on up to this point: his freedom, his family, his lairdship, his land, wife, children, any wealth he may have had. His father was going to train him or have him journey in a profession for gentlemen when he was first arrested by black jack....never happened. With each of these losses his names changed.
SAWNEY as he was nicknamed by his brother Willie. The name is a Lowland Scots diminutive of the favourite Scottish first name Alexander (also Alasdair in Scottish Gaelic form, anglicised into Alistair) from the last two syllables. The English commonly abbreviate the first two syllables into "Alec".
SON, GODSON, NEPHEW, BROTHER, UNCLE, & FRIEND.
JAMIE MACTAVISH as known when on the run from Black Jack.
When fighting as one of the leaders of the rebellion he became RED JAMIE or SEAMUS RUADH.
LAIRD BROCH TUARAC or his title when hob nabbing with the nobility in France.
    SIR to his tenants.
M'LORD is what Fergus called Jamie.
To Bonny Prince Charlie he was JAMES, HIS DOUBTING THOMAS.
The man hiding on his family estates in the cave, he is the DUN BONNET. "Local people took to calling him Bonaid Odhair (or Dun Bonnet), a nickname meaning 'coloured hat'. So that they could talk of him without alerting the troops to his whereabouts."
In prison he is called MAC DUBH..."Translated, “Mac Dubh” means “The Black One” in reference to Jamie’s father, Brian, who was often referred to as “Black Brian” for his jet-black hair. The “Mac” refers to Jamie’s mother’s side of his lineage, the Mackenzies."
ALEX MACKENZIE at Hellwater. He did not want the English to know Red Jamie was there or draw attention to his family. Young Wilie calls him MAC.
ALEXANDER MALCOLM the printer. By the way, Jamie never liked the name Malcom. lol.
JAMIE ROY his name while smuggling in Edinburgh and those who were involved with that operation.
    Other aliases:
KING OF MEN, CAPTAIN ALESSANDRO, ETIENNE MARCEL de PROVAC ALEXANDER, BEAR KILLER & YONA DIHI.
One of the most romantic scenes from Voyager (book3/season 3), that never made it to the TV show, was Jamie and Claire laying next to each other in the night and Jamie says,
"For so many years," he said, "for so long, I have been so many things, so many different men." I felt him swallow, and he shifted slightly, the linen of his nightshirt rustling with starch.
"I was 'Uncle' to Jenny's children, and 'Brother' to her and Ian. 'Milord' to Fergus, and 'Sir' to my tenants. 'Mac Dubh' to the men of Ardsmuir and 'MacKenzie' to the other servants at Helwater. 'Malcolm the printer,' then, and 'Jamie Roy' at the docks." The hand stroked my hair, slowly, with a whispering sound like the wind outside. "But here," he said, so softly I could barely hear him, "here in the dark, with you....I have no name." "

Of course this is an episode that everyone was waiting for book reader or not. Ian you will love soon. If you remember when Jennie had a baby and she said the baby died when the redcoats came in looking for the gun that Fergus shot in the air to get rid of the raven (with that arse Scottish guy in the redcoat) Ian is the baby that Jamie holding while he was hiding.

In the books, Jamie does not tell Claire about his son.....she finds out much later in the book. The reunion in the book is much more crying than in the TV show. I like how they started this episode.
I think the show runners wanted to show how uncomfortable they were when meeting...they are very different now . But the sex scene shows how each of the three times is more intimate....just like the wedding. So yes we are voyeurs, but they are showing how they are falling into themselves as a couple again.
Here are head writters and EP's talking about this episode:
    ruclips.net/video/PK21_YyALVc/видео.html
    ruclips.net/video/ns3o0KwiQuY/видео.html
Claire had more of a plan for what would happen in the books....just be patient :-)
I always saw Jamie as a bit too careless and impulsive. He, on his own never lived up to what others saw in him. When Claire comes into his life she kinda directs and steers him toward becoming the man he will become....the leader at Culloden in season 2. With Claire gone and the loss of his freedom, destiny, family and even name he back slides a bit to that careless, uncaring, man he was in his youth. The Jamie he is to become in season 4/5 & 6 is a far cry from the Jamie we see in season 3. You even see the progression over the rest of this season. Claire doesn't make him but rather inspires him in a way no one else can. It's fun to watch.
PS...this is TV and book Jamie combined in my head. Forgive me if I am over reaching in my opinion.

Jamie seeing Bree's photo for the first time is so much better in the book, imo. The moment he lays eyes on her in the picture, he breaks down into tears and Claire holds him. 🥹
Edited to add I'm not saying the tv version is bad, mind you. Overall they've done a phenomenal job adapting everything!
