    Узлы эти довольно полезные, может конечно не на каждый день, но всё же.
    1. Двойной беседочный. Петли на практике вяжутся разного размера. Одну одевают на пояс, другую под задницу. Получается страховка на высоте.
    2. Ездовая петля. Петля на середине верёвки. Можно использовать как блок на полиспасте и умножить усилие.
    3. Беседочный. Просто петля на конце верёвки. Универсальное применение.
    Единственное, что автор видео как-то до извращения сложно их завязывает. Всё гораздо проще.
    После нагрузок всё эти узлы легко развязываются.

    Just want to emphasize that #2 is *NOT* an "Alpine Butterfly" as many think. Not saying he tied it "wrong", just saying it's not an Alpine Butterfly, it could be a knot with another name. It's hard to explain the difference in text. Only thing I can suggest is tie a butterfly the way you learned, and then follow along with this video, you'll see the difference in the end result. Basically, at 1:55 you should see an 'x', not parallel strands.

      @rookiemoves 3 года назад +9

      I’m pretty sure this incorrect, if you tie it in the method shown in the video the strand that wraps around the bite can be pulled off and the whole knot comes undone. If you tie an alpine butterfly in the hand wrap or twist method, the strands encompassing the bite overlap and the exiting strands can carry loads in opposite directions with no risk of the knot coming undone. Basically if you tie it like it is in the video and the bite is too small and you load the rope without anything clipped into the bite, it risks coming undone. Short version: if you look at both sides of your alpine butterfly and the wrapping strands aren’t crossed on one of them, yer gonna die

    Knots are fascinating. They all seems simple, straightforward and logical, and yet there are multiple ways of getting to the same place. I can’t believe I’ve seen another method of constructing a bowline! Knots are also like Rubik’s cubes in the sense that if I don’t do one for a year, I have no idea how it’s done and have to run off and find a refresher tutorial.

    If everyone would learn bowline and clove hitch, there would be no bad knots in the world

    • @YetAnotherOne
      @YetAnotherOne 3 года назад

      That's an interesting statement, I don't disagree with your sentiment behind it but I'm curious as to why you picked those two knots. There's a lot of situations where they are completely inappropriate and they both have significant issues in various applications. While I can't think of 2 knots that would cover all bases myself I really want to understand the statement you made a bit better.

    • @maxwellschmidt235
      @maxwellschmidt235 3 года назад

      @@YetAnotherOne These are the two for everyone- people with specific needs will learn specific knots. I'm not saying they cover every purpose, but that they can work for most. Bowline let's you put a loop of specific length in a rope, plus it is the same knot as a short bend for connecting two ropes with a knot- so you get an extra knot from the deal. Clove hitch is most useful for fastening a rope securely to any object. Plus, the cleat hitch and two-half-hitches are just different configurations of the same knot- the latter lets you make an adjustable loop in a line. From there, most hitches generally are just a clove hitch/two-half-hitches with more loops to allow some different locking.
      Again, plenty of other good knots out there, but 95% of people have 1 consistent knot that they can tie and untie quickly- shoelace knot. Bowline and clove hitch are better than shoelace knot for any application other than shoelaces, and most knots can at least passably be substituted with these (outside of climbing and heavy rigging, which are both cases where people know the knot they need... and when there isn't a specified knot, they probably use some variant of bowline or clove hitch)

      @@YetAnotherOne Basically my challenge is this- find a situation where somebody knows no knots and made a mess that you can't sort out. I postulate that in that situation, you will always wish they knew these two knots and their variants.

      @@maxwellschmidt235 I'm assuming you mean sheet bend not short bend. I do commend you for knowing its the same bend (which is why I don't refer to the bowline as a knot but a bend), most people are completely unaware of this fact. How ever the bowline makes a terrible looped knot, since repeated loading and unloading will cause it to undo itself. The alpine butterfly is a much better knot and the line can be loaded in all directions. It's also easier to tie in the middle of the line. Sure you can tie other fancy knots but if we're looking for simple knots that will save people from making a mess it might be a better option.
      The reason I asked about you about the bowline and clove hitch is that neither of those can be untied underload. Which leaves us with people tying a lot instead of tying a knot again. While I think the clove hitch is tremendously valuable I think the round turn and two half hitches is a much better knot to advocate as a tool to do most things. It's easy to tie and can be tied and untied under load.
      Funny you mention cleat hitches, they are a pet peeve of mine, most people tie them wrong and rick jamming the hitch on the cleat should it come under serious load. "shoelace knots" are supposed to be reef or square knots, but funnily enough most people tie granny knots, and their shoe lace keeps getting undone, so the solution is the "double knot".
      I can't speak for heavy rigging as I have no experience in the field, I've got experience with climbers (rock and other wise) and sailors. I can tell you from experience that most of them hardly know the knots they need and quite a few of them tie them wrong too. Climbers mostly have the right knots and dress them correctly, but I've more than once had to either tell a climber to tie the knots right or leave the crag because I don't want to be there when things go wrong. Now don't get me wrong, most climbers are pretty good about it, but there's a small group that really drops the ball.
      Don't get me started on sailors, I'm not talking about sailing big vessels where the forces will kill crew when things are not perfect, but anything up to about 50 feet I've seen some horrendous things.
      In general I really agree with you that everybody should have a small selection of knots that they get taught and can be used widely. I'm just not sure what those knots should be and how many are sufficient. I just don't think the bowline and the clove hitch are versatile enough to solve the problem.
