I'm on the second step where I've bought a mahina monofin and am saving up for a skin do you know any tail makers who make tail skins that are reasonably cheap for the mahina?
Hi Nerdmaid Faith. I’m a beginner Merfairy and I live in Adams Massachusetts USA and my Mer name and Mersona is Tauriel The Element Merfairy. I’m on the step where I have a Arctic Blue Fin Fun Mermaid tankini top, bikini top and bikini bottom with a matching tail skin and mine came with a clear monofin pro with a black neoprene cover. I also bought later down the road a Fin Fun Mermaid black replacement monofin because I didn’t feel like having my clear monofin pro to break and I haven’t gotten a chance to swim yet since I have either been not feeling well or it’s been too cold outside or I don’t have any money to swim inside. But I have been thinking about getting another fabric tail set in Blue since Blue is my favorite color and because Blue matches my favorite Element of Water but I haven’t figured out what company to go with next and I’m on SSD and I only get one check each month to live off from so I don’t know when I’ll be able to get it. I also have a few other new mer things to go with my tail set but I haven’t gotten a chance to unboxed them yet since I have been busy with going to my doctors appointments since I haven’t been feeling well and going to my payee since I’m on SSD and I only get one check each month to live off from so that I can pay for some of my bills and go food shopping. So if anyone has any ideas on what fabric tail company that I should go with next as soon as I can please let me know as soon you can so that I can let my payee know and so that I can start saving up for it. 😃😀🧜♀️💛💙❤️💚💖💜🖤🧚♀️😀😃
I'm only on Step 1 Entry Level, I just have a fin fun. But I'm kind of tired of it, I've had it a year or two. Now, I think I might skip one of the steps because I WANT A MAHINA!! And for the tailskin, I was thinking of DIY-ing it.
You certainly won’t remember but on one of your live streams I asked if I should get a FinFun tail even though I already have a Finfolk tail and you said yes. Well I’m happy to report...... I FINALLY AM GETTING ONE! You’ve been a huge help in my mermaiding journey that’s just beginning! Thank you!
I am a level ten recreational mermaid. I've made more than half my tails by hand, I love fabric tails unapologetically, I'm an SSI Ocean Certified Mermaid, with 9, almost 10 years in the mermaiding world, and 30 solid years of swimming recreationally in many different bodies of water.
I don't think I could ever go for a full silicone, sadly I'd have major sensory issues if I tried to wear one, but I can still appreciate all the hard work that goes into those extraordinary tails :}
@@stingyfloopy Thanks for asking! I can happily report that I am 24 now, it‘s after the pandemic chaos and this summer I‘m trying out my second tail, which is a more expensive fabric tail by Finfolk. :)

Yes! I love all my tails for different reasons, and I could go WAY more in-depth about the pros and cons of each type then I ever could in this video haha!

The "F**K YEAH, CONCRETE!" tiktok had me on the floor lol it's so true. Thank you so much for this informative yet hilarious video! I've been fortunate enough to swim at my gym club's pool with my tails, with the only downside being that more than half the time I have to share a swim lane with someone...but eh, it is what it is.
gaaaaack! That's annoying. They should at least have a swim test. Of course, now most of the pools are closed (or, do you really want to go there???) due to the Plague, sooooo get a kayak and some buddies and SAFELY find a safe space in natural water to play, or do beach shots
Definitely at step 0 lmao, I would never want to perform or anything but having my own tail for recreational use would be something to cross off my bucket list Even as a kid I would use diving fins in the pool and play Mermaid with my cousins, and got really really good at swimming with both legs together, really fast too haha
It was LITERALLY a drunk pool day that lead to me and my bestie ordering our first tails from fin fun!!!!!! Haha love it, great content as always girl!💜👌💯
My first tail was two flippers taped together and a single color fabric cover over them. It was more just a costume fun. But that led me to my finfun tail. Now I am waiting for my Mertailor Whimsy 3 tail.
On a step 0, and have been hyperfixating on mermaiding for a while now. I've got my eye on the Fin Fun Sea Dragon tail from the Atlantis collection. It's my favorite tail they've made. In the distant future I might get this MermaidLucia Shark tail I found on their Etsy store. I literally created a mersona to dress up as. I probably need to slow my roll since it's been years (?) since I've set foot in a pool and can barely swim haha. I'll fulfill my childhood dream someday!
i got the aussie green finfun marmaidans tail back in 2016 (when i was 11) and i just ordered finfuns malaysian mist tail from the atlantis line as a little upgrade! i’m so excited to get it
Personally I loved FinFun because they’re really comfortable and they fit really well I have the Atlantic one pacific pearl it’s gorgeous plus it fits really nicely and at the tips of them you have reinforced material so they don’t rip on the skin in the mono fin end it last forever you can actually have a pro one that is better personally I haven’t really tried it out yet but it does give you more control and more speed when you’re swimming than the normal mono fin and it’s beautiful the really nice
I went from half-upgrade, upgrading to FinFun Atlantis tails, and went full send into Custom with a custom Moonsong Magic tail with the Lucia Fish fin 🤣
Thanks for this video! I'm in the 3rd or 4th step, my budget slows me so much on going further! But hopefully I'll go to the next steps soon. 😊 I'm also learning to make my own fabric tail but as someone who doesn't know much about sewing, it's a bit harder than I expected it to be!
I had a fin fun when I was 8 then I kept buying them and growing I’m now 16 and trying to move to a multi material tail that’s like a hybrid of silicone and fabric it all takes time and it is definitely an addictive and expensive hobby but in the end it is completely worth it especially when u can make a little kids day
I got my Marina Magictail in 2013 and I still love it so much! love the monofin too, BUT I am still quite new to mermaiding bc of both anxiety, no merfriends and very limited places to swim ( I live in Norway)
Update to my comment from 2 years ago: I am back to this video at 1:25 am, I am now 24 years old and I purchased a Discovery Fabric tail from Fin Folk and a new monofin (Linden) last week. It's still the version with the small fluke because as an university student I can't afford the bigger fluke. It's still over 400 $ (or € for me) and I have to pay Zoll and wait for up to 22 weeks because it's apparently a pre-order and all the way from America. I'm still happy as I quickly discovered after only 1 or 2 swims with my first mermaidtail, that my water skills are highly overpowered for the Suntails fin. I'm a years-long snockeler and always used heavy diving fins, so I'm highly unsatisfied how the neopren of the Suntails is always floppy and the loose connection to the fin forces me to go extra slowely so it stays on my feet when I do turns. I'm also brave enough now to go to the pool when the sun shines and swim around in mermaid fit. Time to make the long needed next step!
i have a mersona but i don’t have any tails yet mainly because i haven’t really though about mermaiding however i would love to work at an aquarium one day
Great video! I'm on the second group: I did a ton of research (that is how I discovered you and courtney mermaid! both of you have been so helpful!!!) and got a safe and affordable tail from a company similar to fin fun that works in my country, it came with a TON of safety instruccions and links to safety videos! It was a couple months ago and... I already feel I'm downhill 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm like a 0.5, lol. I made a fabric tail when I was a kid and used it a few times, but it was baggy and didn't look great, so I didn't use it much. Now after probably 7-ish(?) years of pining and using a monofin I'm in the process of designing an incredibly unique extended neoprene tail. My skin is sensitive to silicone, so that's never going to happen for me, but I hope my tail will be just as incredible anyway.
holy shit a. thanks for this overview video, I'm in stage 0 and trying to figure out which monotail I should sink money into. b. the "fuck yea, concrete!" is killing me 😂😂😂
I'm pretty sure I'm on step 3 because I've had my fin fun tail for 3 yrs *to long* and it's breaking so I might be getting a ruby elite fin fun tail in a month 😊
I swam with flippers growing up always doing the dolphin kick pretending I was a mermaid...and when I finally decided to buy a tail for myself this year (at age 23) I went straight for a mertailor Fantasea 1 monofin and skin 😂 I currently have 2 of his original fantasea fabric skins, but plan on getting a whimsy skin for that monofin soon. My upgrade after that is going to be getting a Fantasea 3 with a whimsy skin 🧜♀️
Right there with you. I learned to dolphin-kick before I even knew what it was. I knew I wanted a good tail, so i did a ton of research and chose Mertailor's Fantasea 1 and a skin. Already drooling over more skins and the Fantasea 3, possibly making my own skins for them
I wish I found this before I started. I went from a finfolk to a mertailor 3. And I HATE MYSELF for it. I have destroyed my mertailor 3 skin in like four swims. And one modeling gig. XD
I recently started my first novel and had the ✨brilliant✨ idea to make my protagonist a professional mermaid. As of right now, I've spent the past two weeks binge-watching mermaiding videos on RUclips for extensive research purposes... ... And have officially "beached" myself at Level Zero. 😅
I'm trying to decide what monifin to get as a beginner and aspiring professional. I think I'm going to make the fabric tail myself cause I have a specific color scheme in mind and I'd honestly rather just try dyeing it and having something cheaper so when it gets jacked up or if I end up not liking the color scheme I know and it's not a big deal
I bought a really cheap and bad quality first tail. I have learnt my lesson and my second was a fin fun. My current tail is a fin fun Atlantis. They are amazing. 100% recommend the Atlantis tails if you want something a bit fancy after having a basic fin fun tail.
I raise you the step above full silicone, which goes into the extended tails and/or full scale tails (which are near unheard of but I've heard of them before)
I’m at either step 2 or 3. I currently have an Arctic Blue mermaid tail and I’m going to get a Bronzed Emerald tail soon and I was thinking about getting a tail for my friend and/or cousin. I don’t think I’m gonna get one of the tails with the extra fabric on the sides. I’ll definitely get more tail designs like the Limited Editions from Fin Fun!
I’m a little baby in this hobby😅 I have killed one tail and mono fin so far, and my second tail is the blue Atlantis from FinFun and I did get the bigger mono fin.
I bought a Fin Fun mono fin after watching your videos and all the times you recommended them to start. I've been practicing with it and I'm very much in the pining stage but honestly I'm getting pretty discouraged. I have yet to find any fabric tails I like the look of everything is so bright. I grew up on freshwater so I have been hoping to find something that would fit in with all the places I love swimming at, plus all those rainbows colors aren't my style anyway, but so far I'm just striking out. Do you know of any freshwater inspired tails? I like green but even the green tails I find are all brighter greens like lime and teal.
I’ve been swimming like a mermaid my whole life lol, and everyone is saying start off with fin fun but I really just wanna go straight to the whimsy tails from mertailor. It isn’t for anything serious just for me to swim in for fun with some friends even thought we’re about to be 18 😂 so should I go fin fun or to the one I want?
I have a question! I've been thinking about buying an elite fin fun tail! i've had the non elite ones for over 3 years and i'm a very strong swimmer! Do you think it would be a smart choice?
Anyone else into historical fashion or history bounding? I've been away from mermaiding videos for a while now but have been watching sewing videos. And when I started this one I had this odd sensation that I've been watching her all this time. It finally dawned on me that Faith and a young lady who goes by Snappydragon here on RUclips have very similar looks, vibes and voices. I feel like they could be sisters and it would be a crazy good mashup of these two met 😊
Woah I didn’t know this was 3 hours ago I wanna get a tail but my family is generally poor I just wanna get one to try it out to see if I like it I think I’ll like it a lot I just don’t wanna waste money if there’s a slight chance I loose interest
I would recommend trying a mono fin at a public pool before buying one! Just to see if having your feet together drives you crazy before you buy a tail!
"Get the cheapest and safest tail and monofin first so that you arn't spending too much money off the bat, plus you may accidentally beat the crud out of your tail." Me - Who just purchased a fin-fun Atlantis with the Amp monofin because I thought it was prettier/better. "Oh no..."
i have my eye on the mertailor royal angel. but i'm going to buy the monofin first. it also takes roughly a month to ship...but i live like 6 hours from florida (where they're based). a girl can hope.
thats such a great video wow lol and im here trying to afford a skin from a game but i cant cuz im broke how the heck am i gonna afford a mermaid tail xD
imo i like the look/movement of fabric tails more, just the flowyness and half see-trough-ness of some flukes can be breath taking, silicon often looks stiff...
They're currently doing a 'Tail Of The Month' thing, so if you wanna get yourself a FinFolk tail, that could be your chance :) They've got one for January right now. And then they'll have a different one in February.
My first was a Mermaid Kat Tail, I still love it after 4 years, got also a second and thrid no name Skin, but I will buy a second tail with a new monofin and maybe a scuba or neoprene. 😅 But yes my first monofin was a freediver (Hydra)... 🤔 I'm not sure which will be the second maybe the mahina, Linden oder the luna. 😍😱 But I love all of them. 😅
I'm really interested in getting a tail, but I literally can not swim. I've had lessons for years, but I just can't do it. Also I don't float. I just sink
Thank you for watching the video! What step are you at? Comment below!
I'm on the second step where I've bought a mahina monofin and am saving up for a skin do you know any tail makers who make tail skins that are reasonably cheap for the mahina?
I own all of these tails and it makes me so happy! My silicon rail actually came in the mail a month ago

I don’t think I’m gonna get one of the tails with the extra fabric on the sides. I’ll definitely get more tail designs like the Limited Editions from Fin Fun!
Currently at a level 4!!! I would love a custom tail one day but idk what colour or style I want yet 😂
I had an incredibly vivid dream that I got a tail styled after a manta ray, and it's all I can think about now
I’m a little baby in this hobby😅 I have killed one tail and mono fin so far, and my second tail is the blue Atlantis from FinFun and I did get the bigger mono fin.
So helpful
I'm at step 0 but I know exactly what I want my tail to look like.
0: Pining and swimming with a finis for years ---> 4/6: Purchased this summer.
Thank u for the tips!
I really wanna do mermaiding. But public pools in my country are NOT common and there are none near where i live. Also im poor so there's that
I did the Atlantis upgrade too XD
I am at a 6 rn, and for now am happy...for now
the '... for now' hahaha
Last step to complete! Step 7 and I’m almost there!
I have a question! I've been thinking about buying an elite fin fun tail! i've had the non elite ones for over 3 years and i'm a very strong swimmer! Do you think it would be a smart choice?
I’m on step 3, I’m only 14 years old but I have swam in tails since I was 10☺️
For people of 2022 the finfun elite is a good option for people who want a really realistic fabric tail
I've been told this before haha
I have a tail but I am still looking for one I really want. A fabric one with monofin from finfun probably
I got a magictail pro to fit my mahina and I'm back to pining, designing tails I'll never be able to afford
Have you thought about doing a video on how you clean your silicone tail?
"Get the cheapest and safest tail and monofin first so that you arn't spending too much money off the bat, plus you may accidentally beat the crud out of your tail."
Me - Who just purchased a fin-fun Atlantis with the Amp monofin because I thought it was prettier/better. "Oh no..."
i have my eye on the mertailor royal angel. but i'm going to buy the monofin first. it also takes roughly a month to ship...but i live like 6 hours from florida (where they're based). a girl can hope.
thats such a great video wow lol and im here trying to afford a skin from a game but i cant cuz im broke how the heck am i gonna afford a mermaid tail xD
That reminds me of my game Enchantement I’M GONNA GO ON RIGHT NOW!!!!
I felt the H2O karaoke bit in my SOUL
@Nerdmaid Faith ! Would it be ok if a beginner took a deluxe tail?
My sister is very picky do that's why I ask
Thank you for your time!
imo i like the look/movement of fabric tails more, just the flowyness and half see-trough-ness of some flukes can be breath taking, silicon often looks stiff...
I really wanna buy a finfolk tail but there al sold out 😓
They're currently doing a 'Tail Of The Month' thing, so if you wanna get yourself a FinFolk tail, that could be your chance :) They've got one for January right now. And then they'll have a different one in February.
My first was a Mermaid Kat Tail, I still love it after 4 years, got also a second and thrid no name Skin, but I will buy a second tail with a new monofin and maybe a scuba or neoprene. 😅
But yes my first monofin was a freediver (Hydra)... 🤔 I'm not sure which will be the second maybe the mahina, Linden oder the luna. 😍😱 But I love all of them. 😅
I'm really interested in getting a tail, but I literally can not swim. I've had lessons for years, but I just can't do it. Also I don't float. I just sink
I did NOT get the name of the first site, but where do I learn to do underwater swimming, let alone fast and breath holding?
I started with a custom whimsy fantasea 3
6:10
*laughs as the new leader of local pool's mermaid camp*
Level zero because a mermaiding video popped up on my yt and now I'm obsessed but I'm a sahm with no cash or pod lol
I have a finfun!
