    If it was me I would wait to glaze that plate. I would run a few tests on the underglazes with different cover glazes in future loads. You could get a low temp clear, but I think in the end you're better off coming up with a clear glaze that works for you. There are lots that you could mix yourself and trouble shoot that way. I don't use any clear commercial glazes, so someone may have a better recommendation there. Zinc free clear? Personally I mix "Kitten's Clear."

      Thsnkyou for your advice, I will def do a test before putting it on the plate. The underglaze were sold as high fire but clearly are not so it's a tricky one. Really appreciate your help 🙏 😊

    Hi Cuz! Great kiln opening. I love all the pumpkins, the pink one is my favorite. Your partner did a great job glazing! I've been making pottery since 1990, my husband has never glazed anything. He tried to throw on the wheel once, the clay went flying through the air. I couldn't stop laughing. 🤣 I hope your migraine goes away soon. I've been dealing with really bad migraine too. ♥😘

That made me giggle about the clay flying through the air 😂 Tolga did well, I showed him how to make plain mugs 2 weeks ago and he glazed them today so see how they turn out. Migraine cycle ended till next time, bless you hope yours eases, we have had a full moon and that usually makes things worse for me. Not sure if you get the same full moon cycles as us? Even Jacob was feeling off kilter from it. ❤️ 😘

    Great opening Julia. Some beautiful pumpkins too! Your first one which you thought would turn out pinker I thought was fabulous! The variagation in the glaze ❤
    Love the milk jug shape, especially the handle. Looks pretty cool with the glaze just at the top with the raw clay. Power Turquoise looking good there! Nice result.
    Such a shame about the fusion! Made me smile how you held it to hid the mini pan 😅. Beautiful glaze in the dish ❤
    Wow that skull and flower platters must have taken a long time to glaze!! Not used a low fire clear myself so interested to see how these turn out. Fingers crossed. May be worth adding a fine mixture of the 'paper glaze' I used on my jug to save the cracks from spreading further? Good luck
    Looking forwards to seeing your 'weird one' 😂😂

Omg how cute r the minis??? Love the rectangular chips platter. Did u put it on a round mold? The tornado is cool. Oh I looove the back I really need to try that!! Oh thanks for the shout out. I looove that skull platter. Interesting about the cornflour I didn’t know that but I always bisque first to burn it off b4 painting. I did another of those flower bowls too but yours looks so thin! Hey! Soo happy to see you have a new kiln opening!! How awesome your partner is doing clay stuff with you! The closest my husband gets to doing anything with my pottery is carrrying the boxes back and forth to the shed for me!! Oh and trying to work around all the pots that I have drying everywhere!! I love the little soup bowls! I may make some today! By the way, I made some chain links a few days ago and kept forgetting to link them! Just kept making links! lol. My gosh that square bowl is absolutely stunnnning!!! Oh my!!!! When you said to ignore the pan stuck to the side I was laughing soo hard!! Hope it came off ok!! For the crack in your skull piece, which I can not even imagine how long that took to do, use bisque fix or make some paper clay with the same clay that you used for the plate and fill it. When you do this on a bisque piece be sure to burnish the paper clay on the crack. I have done this for several years and I swear I have not had it fail a single time!! I hope you’re able to save that!! It’s soo beautiful!!! The flower plate is soo pretty! I would go online and find the number for Colombia and ask them what clear glaze you should use!! I don’t want you to not be able to use the rest of the glazes you have!! Just a hint when cutting things out like the plate. Never go to a point like a V when you cut things out. Always use a curve like a c. Hope that helps. What a great kiln opening.

      Hi lovely Michele, I know it was so funny finding them fused, when I looked at them again after the video I realised they had made themselves into a chipa and dip 😆 I did manage to separate them it took a lot of grinding but they will get refired to covere their bare spots. Thankyou for all the advice, I will try to do something with the cracks. I have had quite a lot of breakages lately, all my little Tuesday group had, just goes like that sometimes doesn't it. I had made a jug last week with a coil on the front and a couple bits had come off when I went in this week so I threw it on the floor and smashed it, it felt good doing that 😃
      It is nice that Tolga wants to do a bit of clay work with me, however he is overly ambitious for someone right at thr beginning and now wants me to help him make clay mopeds with flags on, told him it was too ambitious but he said I believe you can teach me. I might have to encourage him to take up a different hobby 😅 sounds too stressful having him playing with clay 🤣 xx

    • @micheledickey4066
      @micheledickey4066 Месяц назад +1

      @@ceramicsbyjulia8552 Omg how funny! That is a bit ambitious!! Hahaha!! I’m glad you got the pieces apart. I’m sorry for all the breakage. You know I have that happen to me when the weather changes. I think it’s due to the fact that the clay acts so differently when it’s hot and humid and when it’s dry and cold. But sometimes it just happens. I can’t believe the detail you went into with the skull! It will be amazing either way you try it. Thanks as always!❤️

    I use mayco sw 001 cclar glaze over underglaze and fire my stoneware up to come seven with no problem. If you don't fire stoneware to temp it will not vitrify, and over the years will powder o bottom.

    • @ceramicsbyjulia8552
      @ceramicsbyjulia8552  5 дней назад

      I appreciate your advice, I already have Mayco clear. I can't take it upto temp as the underglaze used have been mislabelled by the pottery store and will only go to bisque temp. The 2 platters are not needing to vitrify they are non functional pieces smile 😊

    Wow your pumpkins are gorgeous your Halloween table can't go wrong this year, you are the pumpkin queen 😅
    Maybe transparante glaze from Botz? (I use it all the time, even 1 layer makes it shiny) That one has a range from 1020⁰C - 1100⁰C. For your flower and skull platter? They both are so beautiful. Pity about the small cracks hopefully they come out well or are repairable.
