  • The Uluru base walk is about 10.7 km of track that takes you around the whole circumference of the rock.
You can take the entire Uluru base walk, or just concentrate on one or more of its sections, depending on how much time you have, your level of fitness and the weather.
If you going to do the entire walk, we recommend you start the base walk from the Mala carpark in the early morning, while it’s cool. Facing the rock, start by going clockwise. Note that some tracks close in the afternoon during the summer, due to the high risk of heat stroke.
If you are only doing sections of the walk, for the best experience, we recommend walking to Mutitjulu Waterhole and back, then walk to Kantju Gorge and back to the carpark

1st Like. Awesome walk Anthony and you brought back memories for us when we did the walk many years ago. I was lucky enough to walk to the top. Those pesky flies are painful. Great video. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks. The flys are very sticky and fly spray makes no difference, but the scenery is unlike any else. 😁👍

Every summer gets the spectacular lightning storms in Uluru Ayers Rock during during the hot weather and heats up make the clouds build up in the summer afternoons. Lightning is very fascinating to watch in the sky when it rains during storms in the hot summer months.

Hi Alissa, I haven't seen it during rain or lightning, but would be amazing.

It was so good to experience your walk up close. It has been over 25 years since we did the shorter walks with 2 children but it brought back so many memories.

Thanks Ben, for us it was about 30 years since we last went. If you ever go back, remember to get fly nets!

They can be so bad on some days, especially if there is no wind.
