Alex Jesaulenko - St.Kilda Career Highlights 1980 - 1982

In a deal managed by St Kilda club president Lindsay Fox, Jesaulenko moved to the St Kilda Football Club in 1980 after a stellar career at Carlton. While initially appointed as an on-field player only, Jesaulenko was then appointed playing coach when the incumbent St Kilda senior coach, Mike Patterson, was sacked by Fox after Round 2. He played 23 games and kicked 20 goals for the Saints in 1980-1981 and stayed on for a further season as senior coach. Jesaulenko retired as a player after Round 8 1981.

Closest thing you could get to seeing a panther on the ground. The thing that amazes me is that Jezza came to the game later than most kids, and yet was able to be so highly-skilled.

The first in a wave of Carlton players in decline going to St Kilda .The best one was Ken Sheldon who played well in the back pocket and was a good coach who should not have sacked in 1993.
