I rode some of those roads yesterday on the ITP Startline Sportive Leicestershire and found the road surface far better than Derbyshire and yes watch out for gravel Good information for competitors
Really useful thanks, I road the route today and the back end - last 2k were very bad - so much so I thought had gone the wrong way! Rest of the route not too bad but keep your wits about you as quite a few areas of localised potholes and surface gravel.
It’s nice to hear that they are going to sort out the potholes. These are my local roads and it looks like some of them have been used for bombing practice!
I've done Nottingham last year - the worst roads I rode on - so bumpy that gears were changing by themselves. ;) I won't be coming back although I loved swim and run. Wish all participating great racing.
@@TriathlonDan I like Outlaw events and brand. You already recommended me better course. 👍 I'll be visiting for work area near castle Donington next year so picking a race nearby makes sense.
The old course ( Full) is on Rouvy which has been a help last two years for training. Now the course has changed means those further away cant do the course prior. Any chance of uploading the half to Rouvy,? It doesn't matter about any video as Rouvy will add a 2D map. Be great for us doing the full now to practice the course. I think you just upload your Strava. Thank you :)
I've had a look at this but can't see how to do it, could you email me or IG message some more info please? Happy to do so if it helps but just can't figure it out. Contact details are in the description of this video :)
@@TriathlonDan Thank you for taking the time over this it is appreciated. Ive used Rouvvy Notts full course the last two years and was a big help. I have looked back in as you used to be able to just upload the Strava file. Seems they have done away with this very useful feature. As the course has now changed the course on Rouvvy is now no any help so I have scrubbed my subscription. As the new course is mainly flat Id be as well just sticking to a Zwift course to get in the miles. This will be my third go at the Full . here's hoping the weather is on side. My first it was very windy which made for more challenging conditions. The following year was same course but weather was more onside. Lets see how this year stacks up as I go for the triple.
missing out Gunthorpe Bridge and the A6097 is defo a good idea, the road surface is awful! Pit about the Oxton bank climb though, and the lovely decent into Southwell. Overall it looks like a better course though, wish I was doing it.
Don't know how the ride round the lake will work, during the rain in January around 100m of the pavement collapsed between the white water run and the regtatta lake, still was like that last week when I was running around it. They hadn't even started fixing it and wouldn't be able to start until we have some good dry weather! Thanks for the recce of the rest of the course.
Is it not fully closed roads then? I'm sick of doing triahtlons with traffic. Half the reason for paying should be to be able to race without having to stress about cars trying to kill me.
This is one reason why Outlaw is so much cheaper than IM. I've done Outlaw events 5 or 6 times, never had an issue you just need to be wary of potential dangers and ride accordingly, that's all.
Outlaw always has traffic management but no full road closures. There was only a couple or 3 places where you have ‘traffic’ sharing the same small section as riders tho.
There's no way you can have 56 miles of closed roads. It costs £1500 for one road closure for a sporting event, that would bump race entry fee's up by £100's!
@@TheLazyGarden3rit isn't hard it is just expensive. Generally people don't want to pay the price it would cost to close all the roads especially for the length of time required for this race

great pointer on the hedges/gates and crosswinds
Find that tip out the hard way haha :D
Super useful as always Dan 👌🏼🚴🏼♀️see ya on race day💪🏻
Cheers Hattie, will do! 💪👊
By the way… I was out doing a recce of the course!
I was the person that saw you the bike!
Haha nice one! Have a great race!
Great video Dan.. Your roads are amazing
Thanks!
Very useful, thank you Dan. Fingers crossed for a faster bike split than last year!

Yes events like this often really make a difference, someone putting pressure on to make repairs happen 😬👍

Great video Daniel - if I was a triathlete I can imagine this would’ve been really helpful
Glad you enjoyed it! The triathlon world is calling haha!
@@TriathlonDan I’ve told a few people doing this event to watch this video ☺️ that won’t include me haha! Open water swimming terrifies me
Thanks Dan
Smash it buddy!
This is brilliant thanks :)
You're very welcome!
Looks great! Loop labelling needs some work 😅
It's got a ring to it hasn't it ;)

I'm not so heartbroken about Oxton Bank haha. A definite improvement :)
Great vid! Will you be doing one for the full?
You can probably just watch this one twice 😉, see you there

Richard it's in the schedule for being repair and reinstated before race day, isn't planned to have been finished yet. 👍
Looks like it's going to be sorted :D
Those sunnies are something else. 😎
MVDP knows what looks good doesn't he ;)
Ahhh is this why you didn’t put your map on strava the other day 😮
Bike course was only released today.
Top secret Ollie ;)
Come & do the IMUK 70.3 bike
course recce with me 👀 hehe
I’m not sure if I’m doing it yet 😭 but I will do as long as Greg claps me as well as he did at Manchester marathon
Sorry guys but gloat from Spain here - so long since I rode in UK & can’t believe the state of your roads 😳 Go careful guys!
Haha you have it so good! I’m all about 70psi nowadays… or the gravel bike 🤣👍
@@TriathlonDan Reckon you need a quad bike 🤣 GLuck man!
Absolutely hated the last part of the course nearly killed me.
Wonder if this just for half not the full
Haha yes it's challenging. Stay tuned for an update on the full :)
