One of the main reasons I purchased an NV200 is that it is small, quite narrow compared to other small panel vans and surprisingly compact. I’ve been so impressed with both its driving performance over the year that I’ve owned it, as well as its adaptability for a van conversion, and can’t recommend it highly enough to others. For my purposes, it is the perfect van for day-to-day driving, holidays, weekends away and surf trips.
My NV200 is a 2015 Acenta model. All the dimensions in this video are based on my van, so it’s worth bearing in mind that I don’t have any back seats and I have also removed the metal bulkhead so that I can fit a surfboard through the middle gap between the front seats.
To the best of my knowledge, all UK Nissan NV200s from 2010 onwards are the same dimensions, other than the fact that some have seats in the back, so may not have as much storage room as my empty van.
If you’re interested in seeing how I got my van to its current state, then please check out the ongoing van conversion series on my channel, and be sure to subscribe while you’re there!
Please note that all measurements are approximate and I have done work to my van which might mean these dimensions are slightly different to another NV200.
    Outside dimensions featured:
Full length of the Nissan NV200 van from bumper to bumper
Front width of the NV200, including and excluding wing mirrors
    The height of the van
Roof bars length and their additional height to the van (The roof bars I have installed are Thule bars, made up of the 3085 fitting kit, the 753 feet set, and the 969 wing bars, which are 127 centimetres.)
The height and width of the side sliding doors when both closed and opened
The back door dimensions when closed
The large and small back barn door widths
The size of the doorway created by the back barn doors when open
The NV200 wheelbase (the distance between the centre of the front and back wheels.)
From the ground up to the van floor
    Inside dimensions featured:
The floor to the ceiling of the NV200 (this is enough room to sit down in, but not to stand up in.)
Width of camper van inside at the widest part
The width of the van between the wheel arches
The height of the wheel arches in the Nissan NV200
The interior length from the back doors to the front seats in the NV200
The interior length from the back doors between the front seats into the cab
The gap between the front seats and handbrake
The entire interior length from the windscreen to the rear doors
Finally, the weight of the van unloaded is around 1200kg and it can carry a weight of 795kg.
Hopefully this video might be of use to someone doing their own Nissan NV200 van conversion.

Perfect format and I know this was a lot of editing on your part! I want a van to play tenor sax in (live in apt.) and most are too small, 60" height would be ideal but this one is close at 55.1" and all others are 38" to 40" or so, with Ford Transit at 45" tops. A 12 mpg conversion van is best, but only 12 mpg! So, thank you!

Thanks for all that James. Other such information I’ve seen is for trade outfitting so this was more helpful. One more dimension I wish were included is the width just above the wheel wells. I seen it mentioned at (about) 56” - 142 cm. That seems reasonable but I’d love to seen it in your video so I could like it for future reference to every useful measurement.

Fantastic information, I'm currently thinking of doing what you are in the process of.
The dimensions you've given are paramount. This van is definitely on my radar now,
thank you. If it's not to much trouble, could you give me a dimension from ground to
drivers seat height, this would be most useful as getting in and out of any vehicle
is becoming more difficult as I am over 6ft tall and have niggling back problems.
Thank you for sharing this, and thank you in anticipation for an answer. Phil.

Awesome van conversion skills and ingenuity James! Would you tell me what is the measurement between the window indentations on the back wall body. By that I mean, the width of the cargo area measured between those two specific points?

Thanks James. Great videos. I so wish I'd found your channel before now :) I also have a NV200. Its a Tekna and a 2 years back I had it professionally insulated , carpet lined and dark windows put in, by a company in Wiltshire. The plan was.. that leaves me to do the rest of a custom camper conversion... It never happened. But we have used the van plenty of times for camping trips, carrying bikes and tent, etc. Love the van!
I really like your bed video. Do you have the design documented at all ?

    • @LensOfJames
      @LensOfJames  4 года назад

Hi, thanks for the kinds words! I did a few camping trips before doing the whole conversion, and it's made so much difference having the van fully kitted out now. Unfortunately I don't have any bed plans - it evolved from a previous bed design and I adapted it from there. Any questions, just ask - good luck with your build!

Hi James, like others I've found your site and videos a massive help in making a decision on a van, thanks. I have a question about the interior height (135.8cm). When you're sitting upright on your bench/bed in bench mode, how close is your head to the ceiling, and how tall are you? Could you also give some indication of the height of your bench including the mattress please? Thanks!

Hi James, Your videos about Your van conversion are really great and extremely helpful, thanks a lot !
One question regarding the mentioned length of 204cm from back doors to front seats: What is the related position of the front seats ? (Or: what is the max. distance, when front seats are at the moved-forward position ?). Kind regards and happy camping 👍, Jan

    • @LensOfJames
      @LensOfJames  3 года назад

Hi Jan, glad the videos are useful! I'm afraid I don't know the length including the seats when fully moved forward. I would think it was approx 220-230cm in total. It's also worth bearing in mind that not all NV200 (including mine) have sliding front passenger seats (only the driver's side slides forward). Hope that helps a bit!

It's 9'4, you could probably get away with a 9'6 but with the furniture I've got in the van now I couldn't.
