    You’d be very happy in this! Just get a cheap set of Eibach Pro springs. And change the gearbox oil to Redline MTL - makes a wonderful manual shifting!
    Also of course its maybe the greatest looking Bmw of the last decades.
    Brakes: with an old car, its impossible to rate them. There are 100 reasons this car could have vague brake feel. Mine is correctly bled w fresh fluid, with good Carbotech pads: fantastic brakes!
    But - I get the feeling you are not actually an active driver? Maybe you’d be happier in a comfy Mercedes CLK etc
    Great film!

    Hi Mario, the ideal sports car (or saloon, van, MPV, estate, truck) does not exist. I have driven over 60 cars in the 50+ years I have a driver’s license. New ones, bangers, small hatchbacks, large saloons, estates, MPVs and vans. I am a saloon car guy. I still have not found my ideal saloon. A few cars came close… And by the way they were/are over 20 years and did/do not rattle… Nothing special, if you pick the right make. By the way these all came/come from a place in Germany called Sindelfingen. But… are they ideal? No Sir! They are built very well and are very well engineered, yet they do rust. Also, if they are manual, they do not shift gears very nicely. For me the perfect saloon car would have the comfort of a DS, the engine from a T-5R, Alfa Giulia (the old model, not what they offer nowadays) handling, a BMW gearbox, Audi build quality… What I am saying? It simply does not exist. A Z4M is certainly not the ideal sportscar. Too heavy to start with. A true sports car shall be light. Colin Chapman like light. Look at some interviews with Gordon Murray about his T50… I believe he knows what he is talking about. Weight is THE problem of all modern cars. If you have ever driven light cars you know that they handle much more nicely. Whatever car manufacturers do with all the modern electronics, the laws of physics still apply. A sports car is NOT about power but about weight, a sports car is not about acceleration (buy a Model S) or top speed, a sportscar is about roadholding and handling… To me indeed the MX5, or better still the original Lotus Elan (as the unforgettable Miss Peel drove in the original Avengers), are among the best sports cars, where ever you live on this planet… Happy hunting for your ideal sportscar!

    We have a Chrysler Crossfire which is similar to what you are driving here. It is a 2005 with a Chrysler body on top of a Mercedes Benz SLK 320, it has the MB 3.2 liter V6 motor with a MB 5 speed automatic transmission. Both very good drive train. It handles great around turns plus it zips through traffic! Not the fastest sports car but it does surprise people lol
    Top end has been messed with because the dam government said it was to small to go that fast, so it shuts off between 145-150 mph not bad huh… The women love it, a good ice breaker too. We wanted a BMW Z4M at first but the crossfire is faster, quicker, way less to insure and the Z4M is 2.5 times more expensive to buy !!We picked out a blue with black interior similar to the one you have on the show today…Also, it is smaller and lighter too.
    Sadly if we found a Z4 that she liked we would have bought it, but after 2 months she found nothing. The Crossfire she found in a little over a week only 😅 Maybe next car a Z4M ?

    • @Dmbeasley
      @Dmbeasley 2 года назад +3

      I was cringing when he said the bit about his automatics and his Lexus, lol. If you are sitting there wondering why cars have manual transmissions, and say you’re a car guy, that’s a problem. Describing a Z4 M Coupe as ugly is again, a really bizarre take, and he kept knocking the low end torque. A M coupe has great low-end torque, so again I don’t really see where he’s coming from there. This is a guy that drives cars very casually without having too much in depth knowledge on how to drive them properly or get the most out of them.
      Also, the comment about his friend’s startup being in the “pre-revenue” phase. Yeah I’ve heard that one before LOL

    What lunatic thought you could review a BMW (and an M-car on top of that)? 😆
    Jokes aside: I love the Z4 M Coupe. I like its looks, it has got a masterpiece of an engine and that induction/exhaust noise! Love it. Btw. I'm sure you wouldn't want the automatic in that car because the automatic was the SMG. So, not an automatic but a single-clutch, automated manual gearbox. Exciting - like getting punched in the back of your head - but not exactly smooth.
    Btw. I have a VW Touran you could review, 107 hp / litre, dual-clutch gearbox and smooth (a.k.a terrible) suspension. 😁

Styling is always subjective, but you are the ONLY person, ive EVER seen describe this era of z4 as ugly, they are fantastic looking machine. i couldn't watch any further than the first 4 mins due to the complete rubbish your talking and the way you put it across. The Motor, the s54b32 is one of the most highly strung motors going, 8k revs, sodium filled valves, semi dry sump, Forged from factory ( it makes your v6 look basic in terms of engine exotics) YES, it will likely require rod bearings by 100k but by god thats actually fair if you understand what your getting with that engine. look at porsche and their IMS / RMS issues. This is a proper motorsport engine thats getting used hard most of its life ( the engine needs to be revved out to be enjoyed) . That same motor won more engine awards than the complete sports nissan lineup for the last decade....
