    Thanks for the video! My reel was binding/grinding. Took it apart and figured out that there was no grease in the part that makes the spool move up and down. So satisfying to figure it out.

    That was so helpful for fixing my BG 5000. I had a bent main shaft and managed to replace it by watching this vid. It works great again and I didn't even have any leftover parts after re-assembly, except for one golden soft washer :) No idea where that belongs to, haha. Cheers and keep it up

      @solunaranglingconfidante417  2 года назад +1

      Glad it helped. The golden soft washer is for the main gear. Dont throw it away. You can put it on next servicing.

    My reel was missing a couple washers that yours had. The top one on the spool gear right above the anti reverse cogs, and the very bottom one on the spool gear. Maybe mine was built on a Friday at 4:30.

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  2 года назад +1

      Yup. All BG reels will have different amount of washer. I have serviced quite a few now and every single one of them will have less washer and some will have more washer. If the missing washers does not impede overall free spinning and function, then your reel should be fine.

    Thank for the video. I have had my 5000 apart 5 times trying to figure out why my anti reverse falls back a quarter turn. I replaced the clutch, sleeve and wire. This does not effect the operation of the reel. It's just one of those things... Any ideas what would cause this, would be appreciated. Thanks

      Most of the time this happen when, during reassembling, the anti reverse bearing is not seated properly. Try removing and reseating the ARB again.

    what is the exact size of the pinion bear bearing for Daiwa 4500 bg?

  • @marvincruz5802
    @marvincruz5802 Год назад

    When I tighten the bearing retainer on top of the pinion (30:00), it starts to bind. If I loosen it, it spins freely but the two screws are now very loose. Any ideas?

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  Год назад +1

      Try removing one washer. If its still binding remove another washer. The pinion washer is same size as main gear washer. If you remove from the pinion, put them onto the main gear.

    Hey great video, I just finished reassembling and everything seemed to go good, except the instant anti reverse is not working, or is lagging. I think only the backup anti reverse is working. How do i fix that?

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  2 года назад +1

      Usually the main cause is the when ARC goes in at 43:28, the ARC is not seated properly. Try repositioning the ARC a little and make sure its goes in all the way.

    Hi. What's wrong with greasing the bearings? You mentioned a couple of times not to grease them.

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  Год назад

      Greasing the outer ring is fine but if the bearing cover is greased, the bearing will become tacky.

    • @naumanahmadtariq8717
      @naumanahmadtariq8717 Год назад +1

      @@solunaranglingconfidante417 Yes I agree but what about the inside of the bearing? I think a light grade grease would be better as compared to oil. At least it would stick longer inside than just oil. By the way all the bearings in daiwa BGs are serviceable.

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  Год назад +1

      @@naumanahmadtariq8717 the bearing insides will require greasing but not too much. Just a little dab of light grease will do. Just dont grease the bearing cover and its retaining clip.

    I assembled my reel and for some reason, it spins great when the 5 housing screws are loose, but just tightening them slightly completely messes up the turn. It sounds like the gears are pressed up against eachother too tight. For the spin to be smooth, the screws have to be completely loose, as in they will easily fall out through general handling of the reel. Any idea what could be wrong? Ive been trying to figure it out and its really got me confused. Great video by the way

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  2 года назад +1

      Try removing the gear main gear shims. Remove one and test. If still tight, remove another one. Sometimes when you put on fresh grease, the gear tolerance change. Dont throw away the shims. You will need those again.

      @@bmak114 and one more thing I forgot to mention. The pinion shim and main gear shim for BG are almost identical diameter but both shim have different thickness. The thicker shim is for the pinion and thinner shim is for main gear. Quite often ppl (including me) misplace both shims.

    • @naumanahmadtariq8717
      @naumanahmadtariq8717 Год назад +1

      I had exactly the same problem after servicing the reels. The main gear was rubbing against the side plate. Took out the shims which made them better but no way near as smooth as they were out of the box.

    what brand(s) of grease do you use? I notice that you have 2 diff grease brushes?

  • @brianwade8649
    @brianwade8649 3 года назад +1

    Just gave my son this reel for Christmas and he says the owners manual shows an o-ring that seals the plastic screw-on cover (on side opposite the handle). Part number 6J042501 o-ring "b". But it was not in the box. And I didn't see it in theses videos. Is this o-ring supposed to be there or not?

    • @solunaranglingconfidante417
      @solunaranglingconfidante417  3 года назад +1

      The o-ring is inside the handle screw cap. I never remove it during servicing due the risk of tearing the o ring. Although the o ring will deteriorate overtime (give or take 6- 10 years without servicing and greasing).

    • @brianwade8649
      @brianwade8649 3 года назад +1

      @@solunaranglingconfidante417 thanks! Yeah we confirmed it was SUPPOSED to be there. I contacted TackleDirect and got zero support and a person with bad attitude but then called Daiwa USA and it was totally different. They shipped 2 o-rings at no charge. Thanks for responding!

      Not necessary but I will always recommend to all new bg owners to smear grease on parts as shown at 43:00-45:00. It will do justice to the anti-reverse bearing and pinion bearing in the long run.

      Currently im using skf lggb. Deuthlon reel grease, quantum hot sauce are excellent grease but a bit pricey. Penn reel grease, shimano spray grease are good enough and not too expansive. Chinese blue reel grease are suprisingly quite good, cheap enough and easily available through shopee, lazada, ebay or any other online shops. For oil I use corossion x for saltwater reels. Deuthlon oil is good and expansive. Shimano oil, daiwa oil are the better choice. If not then sewing machine oil and chinese fishing reel oil will be sufficient. I would prefer daiwa oil and shimano oil.
