Sultan Mehmet Fatih left a will in relation to Hagia Sophia:
“Regarding my Waqf Hagia Sophia:
if someone changes my decision to turn Hagia Sophia into a mosque;
will change or cancel at least one item of the Wakf of Hagia Sophia;
will defame without hesitation or, under any hidden pretext, suspend the work of the Waqf (mosque) of Hagia Sophia;
will forge the original Waqf (will). The goals of the Waqf cannot be revised or transformed;
if someone decides to save money of Waqfa, actions contrary to Sharia;
if someone annuls the status of the mosque and forges documents;
if someone draws up the right to guardianship or, by deception, draws up Wakfa on his own account;
I declare that they will all commit great Haram (prohibition) and deserve sins. In this regard, who will change this Wakfu:
May the curse of Allah, the Prophet, the angels, all rulers and even all Muslims be with him, and may their punishments not decrease, and may their faces not be looked at on the day of Khashr (the Day of Gathering of all mankind)
Let there be a sin on that person (a group of people) who, knowing these lines (testaments), still changed the status and conditions of the Waqfa.
They are destined for the torment of Allah.
Allah is Hearing, Knowing. "
