  • Owu festival is an ancient festival in some parts of Igboland and the people of Awa celebrate this festival with styles. Awa is an ancient town and one of the most oldest traveable in the history of Igbo people. Owu is preceded by the Ohu Uzo which reminds the people that a period of peace ,forgiveness and reconciliation cannot be desecrated. Quarrels are not allowed between this time and when the Okorosha (Masqurade) comes to an end for each calendar year.
    Owu dance is a special one where dancers display rare talents and entertainment in accordance with the music of owu. Awa receives many visitors during this festive period who come far and near to be part of this festival. HRM Eze Felix Ihezie Ononuju is the traditional paramount king of Awa. His passion to promote the culture and tradition of Awa is unequalled while Awa Town Union ably led by Engineer Roland Eburue is committed to attracting tourism to Awa through Awa rich cultural heritage. Oganihu Awa Forum has been working with the Town Union to mobilise Awa Diaspora and the global community to give Awa culture and tradition the needed visibility.
