People going about their business of the streets of Sri Lanka in the 1980's.
Market stalls selling all types of food and goods, Street Food, shoe making, changing tyres on bikes and cars with crude tools, horse and cart transporting goods and cars and vans.
Also a visit to:-
Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Roads without tuk tuks. How peaceful
And Indian bikes too😅
Tuktuk is a real deadly piece of shit came from India thanks to corrupted politicians in Sri Lanka

Lol you are surely mistaken, Sri Lanka was a lawless POS back then, remember 1983 Black July? 71' and the 89 JVP insurrections? The whole civil war? IPKF fighting in the north? R. Premadasa's and JR's state sponsored assassinations? And the entire economic crisis from around the mid 60's to early 80's where food was rationed?
Not to say that Sri Lanka is a heaven nowadays but at least now death, destruction and famine isn't commonplace.
Ceylon's real glory days were quite likely before the 11th Century, better wish for those time haha.
Nah you won't, 80s was a complete mess. JVP insurrection, black July etc .those times weren't pretty.
No matter what, I believe we have things much easier compared to these people. We might have complex lives due to technological advancements, but most of these people didn't even have basic necessities. They look like walking skeletons.

I remember these streets exactly like in this video. Me and my mum used to comb the market looking for fruit and veg. I hated going through the manning market mud pools. But now it brings back happy memories of my mum. Thanks for posting this video.

TBH nothing much has changed, just high rise buildings, newer cars, marginally sanitation improvements. Politicians was and still be stealing from the middle and poor giving it to their higher class friends who keep them in power. The tight grip religious leaders got on people is also gotten worst. That's why Sri Lanka was and is still a breeding ground for religious corruption with space for new radical religions like Jehovah and Jerome's begin. People are way too blind and has so much faith in religion. Forget culture, religion and history. Work towards improving oneself. Think over everything. But that's too much to ask from a Sri Lankan.

@@mackenzierough The video clip is first shows the Pettah old dutch town hall with sea street and Prince of wales street (gass pass), but second part it very clearly Kandy Sacred Tooth Relic temple and Kandy bus stand and also in somewhere in Monaragala.
