I was expecting absolute dead air and filler, but no, the man is just densely insane.
You will never find a pickier eater than an ADHD-addled brain that was on Adderall for many years.
Source: I am one, sadly, so many of his points ring true for me. It's terrible, there's so many things I can't eat.
@@fuzzydude64 I mean, I'm an ADHD-addled brain still on Adderall and I have a pretty broad and diverse set of foods I'll eat. Texture rarely matters to me, my main issue is that I eat too quickly and rarely take time to actively enjoy what I'm eating unless I think about it, at which point managing my intake speed becomes mildly irritating even as I try to take the time to enjoy what I'm eating and at times I'll wonder if it was worth the attempt to change my eating habits.
I will say, I'm a "high-functioning" case (so, that might explain part of the difference), which I think really just translates to a brain that never fully stops, so even as I'm eating I'm always considering a dozen other things, including my own attitude, social cues, if I'm with someone and they're talking, I may be concerned with a lack of active interest or focus on what they're saying, I may consider what I'm focusing on instead and why, how I might improve, how successful that attempt may be given my track record, etc. Doesn't mean I'm necessarily any more intelligent, just more mentally active. All that said, I try not to let my ADHD define me as a person. I'm an individual, not a disability, and even then, I feel like my particular "disorder" has some particular benefits over others who aren't on the spectrum. Could be that what we consider mental disorders are, at times, attempts made in our DNA to further evolution. Anyway, that's off topic, and if I keep going, I'll be far from the original topic in no time.
And another issue, I never can keep my comments short...

@@flossimoth fellow neurodivergent here. There are foods I don't like as well because of texture and smell but after hearing this man's rant, I have never felt more confident. I thought I was picky but holy crap. I love sushi, gummies, tacos, sandwiches, half of the things he said he hated I loved and the few things he loves like lasagna are one of the foods I can't stand. I've even eaten frog legs before
as an 18 y/o neurodivergent i am somewhat disturbed by his palate... but 8y/o me would totally relate.
I have no idea what I classify as under that, but as someone who has essentially no sense of smell and tastes purely through texture, and thus experiences food in a vastly different way from 90% of the world, while I don't see eye to eye with him on each opinion point, the feelings he goes through of dealing with people trying to "fix" his picky eating habits rings true hard.
Neurodivergency does play a part in it, but keep in mind picky eating isn't necessarily immediately a sign of mental connection. My brother, for instance, only really has anxiety issues, but he's still a picky eater - not because he's neurodivergent, but because he's a supertaster, i.e. he has really sensitive taste buds, so flavors are more extreme to him. That was more what Bettel reminded me of, personally, but I'm not gonna sit here and play armchair psychologist.
I love how the introduction lore video is all "ah yes, the Jester, a very cultured man" and the actual dude is all "LET ME EAT MY CHICKEN TENDIES IN PEACE."
Even if management isn’t the happiest with rants, I’m always entertained by them. Just pure emotion.

when i think of tacos it think meat cheese lettuce sour cream in a hard crunchy tortilla shell. soooo a taco is hard while a burrito is soft and you can fit more in it it has beans rather than meat as its main filling

As a super picky eater I felt this rant in my soul. I’ve been slowly branching out over the years but all it takes is one bad experience for your brain to make you retreat to the safety of foods you know.

He might mean futomaki(the big ones). Futomaki are big but it’s hard to bite them, and to expected you eat it in one bite. White burritos you can eat as little or as big of a bite as you want.
I suspect that he's an insect of some kind. I think he has a proboscis and can only inhale the smallest of food particles. I bet he eats burritos by just sucking up the content of the wrap.

@@elvinthegengar2.039 Most tacos I had usually just has the meat, be it pork, chicken, beef (i personally love barbacoa) and you can pick what you want to add to it. Be it pico de gallo, onions, cilantro, etc. There is usually some kind of condiment stand they leave for people to do whatever they want with their tacos.

As a fellow picky eater I can relate to a lot of what bettsy is saying. I dont like cold food unless its meant to be cold, I never use sauce to dip things unless it is warm like gravy or i just heat up Marianna. Purified water is what id rather drink. Sushi is a no go for me.. just pretty much a lot of stuff hes said I can agree on 😭 peanut butter never was really my rhing though LOL

Sushi triggering a gag reflex sounds like just bad sushi.
First few times I ate sushi I despised it because I nearly threw up eating it. Horrid texture all around, felt like I was eating gross slimy crap with tasteless rice. And one of those times it was fruit sushi too which is fucking nasty in general.
The moment I got served actually decent sushi I fell in love.

Felt this rant in my soul. When I do tacos with friends it's just cheese, chicken, and lettuce. Every time someone mentions wanting to eat somewhere I haven't before I google the menu to make sure there's something I know I'll want to eat. I've tried foods for people with varying results (sloppy joes NASTY. I dislike sweet meats. Persimmons are nice though) but for the most part unless I'm feeling adventurous or I know a new food is close to something I like already I stick to the good stuff. (My mom likes to tell people I only eat plain white rice, but that's because she's a bitch who can't cook.)
The sushi thing, though - sushi is supposed to be small enough to be eaten in one bite, so either Bettel takes REALLY TINY bites or the sushi places he's been to make REALLY BIG sushi.

As a cook, this rant had me near screeching, but he's not alone on the sushi: I know a few people that don't like it (mostly for the raw fish.)

not letting lettuce is interesting since it has a very light taste. Not liking tomatoes is very new though. I very relate to the people forcing food on me. Like if I dislike food, people forcing food on me won't fix it. I have literally decided to starve than eat food I don't like.
For lettuce it's less about taste and more about texture. You slap some cold iceberg lettuce on something, it *better* go with it or it's just plain distracting by the big crunch of nothing that it is. Or get some better lettuce.
I love tomatoes, but once in a blue moon you get uncooked ones that are so acidic the inside of your mouth itch.
I hate tomatoes for a long time. I just find the texture is weird. Growing up I now can handle tomatoes if mixed with something else but I prefer not to. I used to hate ketchup too, but now tomato sauce or ketchup is ok, I quite like it. Nothing wrong with people liking tomatoes tho.
I'm also a picky eater, but I think Bettel is picker than me.
