Hey John, I have been diagnosed with Bipolar and am often depressed! Booktube has been wonderful way to spread my wings, share my love for reading and just to express myself. I am growing as a channel but it is so much more than that- friends, relationships , bonding. Keep on making videos YOU want to make, those are the ones that come across as genuine and authentic. For example, I enjoy doing Tag videos, which are often not done by creators with 1K +. I personally love them for the community/ friendship aspect .BibbidiBobbodiBooks is an awesome channel, it is all about friends and networking my friend. Thank you for the mention! Beautiful scenery!

Hey Cliff, I'm so glad that Booktube has helped you in so many ways. It's such a great community full of the nicest people, and we all share a love of books and reading.
I'm enjoying making videos while I'm out on my walks so I think they might appear more often, well during the decent weather they will haha.
That reminds me, I still have some tag videos to make.
Thank you for the kind words and encouragement, my friend.

Having a book tube channel isn't bad. It has it's ups and downs. Sometimes it can be frustrating and other times it can be a lot of fun. It is great to have people share this experience with. Thank you for your support!

Thanks for watching Peter and thanks for your support. I'm really glad I started my channel, it's really fun, I've enjoyed learning how to make and edit videos.
It's been great having people to share the experience with, it's the community that makes it so worthwhile.

Glad that your having fun with your time on Booktube. I know it's difficult but try not to worry about views. If you enjoyed filming it, that's all that should matter.

Hey David, I saw your video yesterday, I'm glad your back and hope the new job is going well. I sometimes work similar hours to you (I work in a bakery, 0600-1200 is one shift I do) and finishing at lunchtime is awesome.
I really do love having a channel and growing a community where everyone supports and helps each other is truly wonderful, my only regret with my channel is that I didn't start it sooner. It's very difficult at first not to be obsessed with views but I've realised that community and having fun are more important.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.

Hi John. Thanks for your kind words. Initially putting yourself out there is tough. I do find it is rewarding getting better at videos. I understand the temptation of doing a video about a book that you know will get views. It is good we both avoid that. The best part of becoming a booktuber is meeting people such as yourself. I love nature sounds and your videos out in the English countryside

No problem Stuart, I really enjoy your videos and it's been great chatting to you in the comments.
Yeah filming the first few videos and putting them out was really tough, I think it took me about 3 hours to film my first video.
I'm definitely with you on finding it rewarding, learning how to make and edit videos has been really enjoyable.
I'm a mood reader so I think if I made videos on the hottest new books I think it would come across as insincere.
I'm glad you enjoy seeing my little part of the world, I really enjoy making videos when I'm outside.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@DisquietandDragons-lh3zm Thanks John. That makes me happy.
On my first few videos, I always paused a bit after completing them before I actually released them. Had a but if trepidation

@@stuartgriffin1001 I'm kind of the other way round, I always struggle to get in front of the camera but when the videos done I try and get it out as soon as I can.

Wish I had something more poignant to comment, but, what I can say is, I totally relate to the majority of what you said here.
Especially the bits about the people you meet, and the pressure to cover stuff you feel will be more likely to be watched, and how disappointing it can feel when a video does poorly.
My experience (more from my old channel, than Booktube, simply because it was much larger and I have much more feelings on it), is do your best to ignore that, because while it may pay off for the channel, it will RUIN how you feel about the hobby (in my experience anyway).
Concentrate on what you want to read, make, and talk about. In the end, it's YOU we come for (or should), the books are a, entry point, and shared passion, not a means to impress. We all have nothing to prove to each other. The second that ceases to be the case, the community angle goes out the window, and we loose track of the "having someone to talk about books to" thing we ALL say in our newbie vids lol.
To similar point, again based on my old channel, some of the peers turned friends I made FAR outlasted my desire to create, and despite my desire to walk away from it, I'm still very good friends with them years later.
Just my thoughts, of course, everyone has their own pleasures.

I don't know man, that was a pretty poignant and eloquent reply :)
There are books coming out this year that I could read and videos about them would probably do better than my other uploads but I'd rather wander the countryside telling folk tales or talk about werewolves haha. I think if I tried to read all the new releases it would stop being fun for me, I like that there is no real pressure with regards to my channel.
I've met some amazing people since I started and one of the things I love is how people that start at a similar time kind of band together and support each other, it's truly brilliant and I'm thankful for the friends I've met during my short time on here.
That's a great point, people first, books second is definitely the way I like to watch booktube.

@@DisquietandDragons-lh3zm I'd be surprised, tbh, if your folklore/vlog videos don't end up getting traction and take off randomly at some point. Not only are they just interesting, but I haven't seen anyone else doing it. (Large as the internet is I'm sure there are others, but it's certainly not common, so that works in your favor).

@@reedmorebooks I really enjoy making the folklore videos, everything from researching the stories to exploring the areas is so much fun. They are a bit hard to plan due to our erratic weather and my work schedule but I'm hoping to do one a month. I bought a new folklore book a couple of weeks ago so hopefully a new episode will be up in a couple of weeks.
