Recorded on 3/27/19 from 7:52am-6:30pm
Our crew at A-Train4014 Productions has been pretty productive out trackside for the past few days and we continue it out trackside again at Rondout, IL. We arrived just as the morning rush hour concluded. The weather continued to be very windy but eventually, the weather improved to the point where we didn’t need our winter coats. The action at Rondout started off pretty busy just as the morning rush ended with a CN local running across the diamond along with Canadian Pacific freight trains squeezing in. It wasn’t our best day out trackside at Rondout but we still had fun from being there at the end of the morning rush till the end of the evening rush. Enjoy this video presentation from Rondout, IL on the CP C&M Subdivision.

I always enjoy coming to this spot late at night. Pretty fun to watch Wisconsin Southern freight trains branch off towards Libertyville like the Metra trains
#123's Old Cast P5 and bronze bell give me a somewhat '80s and '90s vibe and I love it
I noticed the NS New York Central Heritage unit at 16:43. Thats a good catch
Thank you!
Man that old cast P5A (I think) at 4:07 sounds amazing.
That’s a Nathan P5 it’s not a P5A
It’s a P5A sorry I was a noob back then
I took that 199 train from Portage straight to the Twin Cities that night! I work for Canadian Pacific Railway as a train engineer out of the Twin Cities.
AWESOME meet with Train #8 and #7!!!
I was on the Hiawatha it went through Rondout around 2:00 ish I was waving at you guys. As always awesome content keep it up!!
Thank you, Ethan!
1:46 i saw that CN local by waukegan IL they where removing a few car on the former EJ&E line waukegan terminal shared to union pacific
Great video! I miss railfanning Rondout!
Thank you!
in the early 70's I would walk the North Shore interurban ROW from Great Lakes through the former Lower Upton junction to Roundout
7:13 looks like Metra bought an Amtrak California loco since their being replaced by the Siemens Chargers
ImmaRefugee up
Yeah
Time stamp 20:15
Why did that inbound at 28:17 go past the metra junction?
Trains, Trains, and More Trains Yea! That was strange that a Metra train was on the C&M north of Rondout! They all should turn off there and head for Fox Lake! Totally weird!
Metra recently had a schedule change on the Milwaukee District North Line to accommodate more passengers near Lake Forest during the evening rush hour. Hope this answers your question. -Andrew Mangalindan
Nice Video
Awsome love your vid!
Thank you!
That track that crosses the main line parallel to the bridge form when was it in use I never see trains on it.
planes spotter and railfanner That’s the CN. They only run 1 Train a day on that line.
@@SamLovesTrains oh

Former Milwaukee Road mainline to Milwaukee.
where is this because I want to railfan at it
That's interesting that the Waukegan Local didn't return. Were you trackside the whole time or did you take a lunch break or something?
Unfortunately, my phone battery died by the time the Waukegan local returned so I didn't stand a chance of filming it by the time it came back. -Andrew Mangalindan
@@ATrain4014 Ok, so did it return after 6:30 pm?
I don't remember off the top of my head of when exactly returned to the diamond at Rondout. I believe it was somewhere between 9-10am on that day.
@@ATrain4014 Oh ok, that makes much more sense
what trains go pass rondout is it owned by CP or NS
The tracks at Rondout are CP trackage. Anywhere south of this section and anywhere north of Northbrook at Junction A20 is where you’ll see the most train action. Most of the Metra trains, Amtrak Hiawatha trains, Amtrak Empire Builder 8 and 7, and various Canadian Pacific freight trains pass through here. Hope this helps! -Andrew Mangalindan
