Dude crazy story, I pre-ordered the regular copy from Gamestop along with the White OLED an few months back when they released the pre orders. I was super mad the scalpers got to the Special edition in a record 1 minute and we so pissed then preceded to give up hope. So the day before I went to buy a Micro SD Card for the new Switch from BestBuy the day before the pre release of the system and game around 6pm and as I was checking out, behind the checkout counter I saw two glorious boxes of the Metriod Dread special edition's and I lost my S***. Of course I had to try and ask the cashier hey I'd like to but that, she preceded to grab the box and the excitement😁 was out of this world for me at this point. She scanned the item and said sorry sir but I cannot sell this until tomorrow😟☹. Luckily for me she told me that it wasn't a pre-order item and seeing as it wasn't listed in the inventory on the website no one can buy it online and hold the item🤓🥴, just come back tomorrow when the store opens at 10am. You better believe I was there 9:20am waiting out front, a few minutes later four other cars pulled up and on the looks of their faces we all knew what was up. I was the first in line so I knew I was in there and guaranteed a copy, but remember there were only two copies of the game and we all knew it. Let's just say the third person in line offered me and the second person $200 then $250 and frankly the profit was not worth this feeling and rare collectible memorabilia(I believe he knew that too), but still I'm not mad at him for trying. To some it up it was well worth the buy and when the purchase was made and the well weighing box was placed in my hands...well this 34 year old was a kid in a candy shop👍🏽 Oh yeah the $40 bucks spent on the pre-ordered regular version at Gamestop went towards the Metroid Dread Amibos (also a great buy and game enhancer) when I picked up my White OLED😎. The gameplay and storyline is great thus far.
Grabbed the last one from my local Best Buy yesterday. I've got an asian version on the way from PlayAsia as well. It was my backup in case i couldn't get a NA copy. The asian one is rated my ESRB as well so not sure if there's a difference at all.
Felt so lucky, got this and amiibos at one gamestop then white OLED for Metroid Dread at separate gamestop! So cool Metroid Dread got so much attention its amazing! Good unboxing!
I didn't get a chance to preorder but when I went to pickup my Switch OLED they had one extra special edition and the guy working there asked me if I would like to buy it. So I did. Im super happy I got one.
Awesome video! I just got my copy from Amazon today and man…this is the best collectible edition ever! I am a fan of Metroid and the very first Nintendo game I played at the age 6 years old (1986). Im not very surprised the special edition did not include Metroid Other M series but I did wish they included Metroid Prime series to the art book. I get that this special edition is about the 2D Metroid Aesthetics

Man, I pre-ordered and bought this Day 1 and I am still thoroughly impressed! But I did find myself avoiding much of the artbook until I cleared the game for the first time! I’m impressed with everything and I hope Nintendo continues to deliver with future special editions! As for what I think of Metroid Dread itself, my personal score for it is 100% so I’m stuck in a Love Pentagon with Metroid Dread, Super Metroid, Metroid: Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion! I gave all four aforementioned games a score of 100% (I scored 100% to Metroid Prime Trilogy too but I personally prefer the other four so I’m not counting it in this time) and I can’t decide which of the four I Love most! Hahahaha! Here’s hoping for more Metroid games developed by MercurySteam! Edit: Grammar and flavour text.
