What if a student wearing a vest reaches behind their head and undos the latch that prevents the vest from unzippering, and then they use either of their arms to reach behind them and feel for the zipper and then unzip the vest, then they can lean themselves sideways and slide out of the vest and pull their legs out. There is no such thing as a Houdini proof vest.

They do have locking buckles that only open with a key. A very simple key which is just a flat rectangle piece of plastic but it would be very hard for the wearer to open from the back even if he or she has the 'key'. This is a very simple modification that could be added to the vest part of the system and wouldn't hinder the driver or the bus matron if the kids need to be unbuckled from the seat during an evacuation.

Why do you need that so they can't undo it themselves? Isn't that dangerous if there was a crash and the vehicle or bus caught fire and they had to get out quickly?

If they're that determined not to ride the bus safely, the parent will have to pick them up.
Riding the schoolbus is a privelege, not a right

@@LincolnYoung-b4n How about a seat belt and not a restraint device requiring an adult to attach "crotch straps" to my daughter. Secondly, let's talk safety. What happens in the event of an accident and you have 50 restrained kids who can't free themselves? Thirdly, let's talk practicality. Are you suggesting a bus driver take this time to harness and restrain each child as they board the bus? To get to school by 8:30AM, the bus will have to start at 5am. And, lastly, we don't have restraints on buses for a very good reason - They don't travel fast and if they are in an accident or emergency situation, fast evacuation is essential. What happens if a bus stalls on the train tracks or goes into the water? You expect the bus driver with a wicked hangover making $5 an hour to spend 45 minutes untethering 50 passengers before the bus is obliterated by a train or sinks to the bottom of the river? I think we can do better than restraining our children like they're Hannibal Lecter being carted off to a super max prison.

Listen dude I have been sending so many insults to this RUclips channel since I first found it. We need to stop adults doing this to children who can take care of themselves me and you can get so many people to join us and bring down this RUclips channel for good! Are you in?! Or are you out?!!

It’s for security for both the child AND the others in the bus. Keep in mind not all kids are like your daughter and might act like wild fucking animals. It’s also something you opt into. You are not forced to use this restraint. This is like the highest level security one the school system near me uses and it isn’t for everyone. They have far less invasive straps too that unbuckle pretty easy. And most often than not it’s special needs utilizing these straps and not the bigger buses with tons of kids.
