After finishing up this video, I headed to the Blighted Village and the mobility in this build *popped off.* It's so strong when you're in combat using vertical terrain! Are there are other builds you're interested in seeing? Let me know! If they feel like good fits, I'm happy to check them out in future videos.

I love this class, it's so much fun to play. I'm doing an honor mode run with 4 Mystics to explore builds, and there's enough options to make them all play differently.
Favorite things I've tried so far:
    - Unarmed: Order of the Ascetic, INT-based Monk. At level 6 you get a free unarmed attack after casting a spell, so it has surprisingly good synergy with casting and support disciplines.
    - Casting: Order of the Wu Jen + 1-2 offensive masteries, then fill the rest with support or CC. I really like Mastery of the Stars for Sunburst's AOE Blind, and Mastery of Light & Dark for the dogs, but also becusse the darkness doesn't take concentration. Wu Jen also gets 3 Wizard spells at level 6, so you can take any staples you're missing, like Counterspell and Shield.
    - Dual Wield: Order of the Soul Knife + Psionic Skirmishing + Nomadic Grace + Soul Reaper. This is my favorite build so far. Soul Knife gives Psi points on kill at level 6 and Souleater refunds its cost if the target dies, so you eventually get Psi points faster than you can spend them. Skirmishing gives Slice & Dice (basically Monk Flurry, but only when dual wielding) and Extra Attack, and Grace gives Blessing of the Wind (increases melee attack reach) and Steel Tempest (3 attacks in one action, but they have to be on different targets). So you zoom around the battlefield, get tons of attacks per turn and finish things off with Souleater to get all your resources back.
The huge flexibility of Mystic reminds me a lot of the 3.5e Tome of Battle classes - Swordsage, Warblade, etc.
Would love to hear if you've found any cool synergies or builds in your playthrough

Thank you so much for all your insights! I didn't realize the Darkness didn't require concentration. That's great! I'm also interested in trying the Soul Knife build, but since a larger streamer is trying that one out, I figured I'd go with something different. If you couldn't tell, I like using all my abilities, so more points than I can spend sounds great, haha. Plus, a Soul Knife Dark Urge with that cloak could be extra fun!

So many options! Definitely analysis paralysis for me

@@toni90227 I definitely can't fault WotC for breaking it up into subclasses of existing classes. There are so many different builds that you could play it on repeat without mich overlap!

It was definitely a lot! Starting with the subclass descriptions really helped for me. Then I just decided whether or not the other decisions sounded thematic! :)
