I just saw this on Star Trek Picard and was totally blown away. Then I looked at this filmclip and loved that too. I lived in a Perth backpacker hostel and saw loads of Germans coming to Australia wanting the sun, sand and surf and so I can totally relate to this. Also, Star Trek and Captain Picard ROCK...!!!
"In a 2002 interview with National Public Radio (NPR), Michelle Phillips explained how this song came about. It was 1963, and she was newly married to John Phillips. They were living in New York City, which was having a particularly cold winter, at least by Michelle's standards as she was from sunny California. John would walk around the apartment at night working out tunes, and one morning brought the first verse of the song to Michelle. It was a song about longing to be in another place, and it was inspired by Michelle's homesickness. Michelle enjoyed visiting churches, and a few days before, she and John visited St. Patrick's Cathedral, which inspired the second verse ("Stopped into a church..."). John hated the verse, as he was turned off to churches by unpleasant memories of parochial school, but he couldn't think of anything better so he left it in. "
@@aliarussell9171 Michelle wrote the lyric as "I pretended to pray" but Cass Elliot sang it incorectly as "I began to pray" in the studio. If you ever saw the Moma's and the Papa's in concert, you would have heard it correctly as "I pretended to pray". Unfortunatly, most versions since have done it incorectly...
As an Italian-and therefore a former Catholic, which is a rule- I hope and pray for John and all the rest to come to know JESUS. Its not about religion, but a relationship with the living God. John 3:3 and 16. 2nd Cor. 5:17 & 21.Romans 5:1, 8:1, 28-39 and on and on.
I've been listening to this song for a while now, and can't believe it's so underrated, while it's such an energizing song. It's truly one of the best songs in it's genre. Still enjoy it.
Thanks for the upload , it is very nice music , we appreciate Freischwimmer and Warner music for allowing us to use this music. We did have lots of request who asking who made the music , we sent them here.

I can see why the rest of the verses might sound like talking to you but I had a listen to the original and the only portion where they actually ''sing'' is the main chorus (which she substituted with ''la-ra-ta-ra-ra'' :))) I dare you to do a ''la-ra-ta-ra-ra" recording on a microphone and make it sound as good as her's sounds.
I just heard this on Star Trek:Picard and had to come looking for it. Great cover of a great song.
I still like the original more.
@@antdude So do I, but this is a great cover. It really captures the vibe of a more modern L.A.
I came to find this too :)
Same bro brought me here
Same, it worked really well for the scene

Hope John repented to the Lord before he left. Not religion, but knowing Jesus personally. Knowing Jesus personally-available to All of mankind!

It is so nice to see I am not the only Trek nerd that ended up here for this!
Picard brought me here. Also 0:24. 🔥
Picard brought me here! 😊
Aftaer so many months, I started watching Jean-Luc Picard. This song out of all the episodes so far...hooooahhhh I'm in love.
This song was used in Picard S2 E3!
Saw this video, heard this song first time in Oct '17 on a flight to LA, coming back to it in May '22, on another flight to LA...
I've been listening to this song for a while now, and can't believe it's so underrated, while it's such an energizing song. It's truly one of the best songs in it's genre. Still enjoy it.
Heard this on Star Trek Picard and only just found it on here. Great rendition of the song.
When I hear songs like this, it just makes me want to go back in time.
And kill baby Hitler? Yeah, me too

All the way back to the Beach Boys, I love the lay-back chilled vibe music. Surf music at its finest. Distinctly Californian

its a good remake of an oldie you get addicted to the sound
I discovered this song while in San Jose, CA. I was just back from LA. Circa 2016. So many memories. Thanks
Picard fans. Show me you’re here 🖖🏻
Geilster Remix ever! Richtig zum Abfeiern wennś ein super Tag war und die Nachbarn neidisch mithören müssen 😍😘
Już nie mogę doczekać się lata.... świetna wersja. Pozdrowionka...

Star Trek Picard brought me here!
First song I ever played on my old faithfull six string... Nice job introducing it to the next generation!
Picard brought me here!
I actually dig this version. very chilled. .👌
Просто офигенная музыка!
Да неплохо получилось, а все равно что-то отсутствует. Может быть атмосфера 60-ых лет?
I can’t believe that this song is already eight years old. I thought it was quite a bit newer when I heard in Star Trek Picard.
My all time favorite song from 2016!!! 😁💿💚...
but it was released 2015...
Krautik thanks, your right. I just recently heard it for the 1st time 2 months ago. Now I can say it's my favorite song from 2015.😁💽

Make it so, my fellow Trekkies 🖖
Love this song!!
Perfect song. Really captures the alienation of living in modern California.
Star Trek Picard!
This is the best version I've ever had, this DJ is the best, my congratulations.
This is pathetic...the original is much better!
Picard brought me here
I was here on Friday of November 2023

Who's star trek?
What a great cover, thank you !
Canción preciosa, fresca, original la versión.
Me encanta.
Vengo por startrek🤣 curioso que nunca la había escuchado exelente
Why haven't I found this until now? Why has it just appeared in Star trek Picard season 2 episode 3?.
Great version and a wonderful voice.
The Scene with Seven and the Girl made it better and the Ending with Rios was too Funny
Picard really is soaring at full warp this season. And the modern song choices only make it better
It happened to me too haha I had to open Shazam to find out the name of this remix !
Longer version ruclips.net/video/gXx4O9bQVLI/видео.html
song was literally a hit in 2015....

Star Trek:Picard 02x03. Welcome to Los Angeles in 2024.
It is always a dream that one has; splash and awake to life...😉🙃🌝
perfect song 4 the weekend
nunca voy a superar esta joyita
Y la original? Y esta? Sigues sin superarla? Jaja Saludos😁
I.LOVE THIS SONG REALLY SOO AWESOME AND LOVELY VOICE 😘😘😘😘
who's the singer? such a sweet voice. Love this modern version of a good oldie.
+Laurence Ata I'm more than 3 months late lol, but it's Caroline von Brunken
+Laurence Ata She isn't a singer, FFS. She talks all the way through it. Last I checked, talking wasn't singing.
+Alexander Bob, Thank you!
Haters gonna hate, that's singing to me and it's fucking beautiful

For I was born in the sign of water and its there that I feel my best, the albatross and the whales they are my brothers! Charming Couple!
I like this one more than the original. You would be surprised how offended some (old) people are by that.
beautiful songs are always underrated
Richtig cooles Cover!! Und das Sie das Surfboard an der Unterseite waxt hat mir heute noch den Tag versüßt!🤣👌
"The dream of the sky is to touch the earth one day" is a metaphor, and "The dream of the earth, to rise up" is a chemistry.
Super! My new favorite song :)
no manches la canción original me gusta un montón y luego sale así más me encantó 😍
I usually don't like remix but I must admit this one is really great!
Muy buena canción like si la escuchan 2020💯😝
