    - Keep in mind that, these are all bedroom level volume. Literally, my strings sound more than my amp.
    - Also, for Delicate Sound of Thunder, i have searched like crazy, hours and sites and datas, there are no recorded data on whatsoever about rotary cab, so i'm %95 sure he only used a chorus for modulation BUT, it sounds a little smoother with the rotary simulator i got, RT-20, so thats that.
    - And please, ignore the playing and focus on the tones and settings.

Animals is my favorite Floyd album
But also lots of Dave’s best solos were on that album and don’t get much attention
That first solo is a brilliant clinic by Davis on how to build a story
    But all his solos were

Hi Mustafa,.thank you so much man for putting up this video and sharing ur knowledge with everyone. Just one question, is the sustain at 5 O'clock in In any Tongue? Also I believe, David extensively used the BKB tube driver..can the big muff be made to sound like a TD? Do share ur thoughts on the above

    • @mustyguitar

Live at Pompeii signal chain is pretty simple actually. He had 3 compressors, 2 big muffs and 3 tube drivers, a few eq's and a few modulation. of course there are complications but this is basically it. Both sovtek and ram's head big muffs were at FULL GAIN and he only, ONLY used them stand alone with a delay.
An overdrive and a fuzz are very different from each other, they have different clipping as well, so, you can get somewhat of an overdrive tone out of the big muff if you lower the gain enough, but i wouldn't recommend it. it wouldn't sound right, let alone sound like a tube driver.
Do check out this video for a better info about the differences of Fuzz and Overdrive: ruclips.net/video/yj53Q-pisbw/видео.html
I would recommend you to get a good transistor based overdrive like wampler plexi-drive, boss bd-2. that being said, there are TONS of overdrives you can use but these are the ones i've used and loved, and these are easy to find. it doesn't have to be transistor as well, ehx crayon is another good one, boss sd-1 can do the work, even a tube screamer can do some work: ruclips.net/video/6UFbVA9tUVk/видео.html

@@mustyguitar The 1994 tour definitely had tube driver boosting his sovtek big muff , it's been well documented that he was boosting his big muffs with booster pedals like this many times over the years.

@@simonbilleng2748 tube driver is not even after the big muff in his rig :)
i'd like to read or see the source to that though

But, to be fair, he had the TD drive set very low. It's a very subtle difference with or without the TD in the chain using his settings.

@@mustyguitar thanks this really helps. Really appreciate ur prompt response 👍. I have a CS3,BD2 & Big muff Ram's head. does it make sense to go in for ehx crayon or wampler Plexi in addition to BD2? On the BKB Tube driver, well from PULSE onwards (or couple of years b4 that) the TD has been his most go-to pedal on all albums incl live performances. I feel you should review this and give ur valuable inputs to budding musicians like me.

how does the dyna work in front of the muff? normally you wouldn't use a comp before a muff. Thnat's what i've heard anyway. Love the tones you're getting man!!!

    • @mustyguitar
      @mustyguitar  2 года назад +2

compressor does what it says, it COMPRESSES the sound, lowering the highs and increasing the lows. it's a great way to boost a pedal, use at home and fingerpick.
don't use compressor after a gain pedal because you need to compress the CLEAN SIGNAL first, to get the most clear sound out of your signal. if you compress the dirty signal, like after a big muff or an overdrive pedal, you'll hear somewhat close sound, but when you listen on your headphones, it's going to sound darker, muddier and god forbid, crap on your ear :)
your signal chain should be something like this:
WAH -> PITCH SHIFTERS -> COMPRESSOR -> HIGH GAIN PEDALS -> LOW GAIN PEDALS -> EQ -> MODULATION -> DELAY -> REVERB
you should check this video for more info, i love this guy
