I assume she never stopped drinking. My sobriety was a threat to her drinking, so I became the bad guy. Maybe one day my son will want contact with me. For now, he lives with his mom far from me, and never responds to my messages.

There's something extra special about your rendition of this song, Gary. The release of Donnie Darko was overshadowed by 9/11, and yet became a cult classic, and while the original Tear's version is incredible and a reflection of the times, your version cut time with a definitive divide of a new reality and everything that came after that day.
I love both versions of this song, Tears for Fears for the feeling of some kind of accumulating madness, like you're sitting on a fast carousel from which you can't get out, and you don't want to. I think I love this song so much because it points out the futility of life and what makes life matter. That feeling of sadness about the world being mad and knowing and wanting things to be better, is what makes life matter.
I remember this song from the Gears of War video game trailer. Me and my cousin loved it and listened to it all the time. We grew apart as adults and he dropped dead in New Orleans last year at 36 y/o. Such a beautiful song, thank you for sharing it with us.
