    I have a question, what's the different between usage present continuous tense to talk about near future plans and present simple tense to talk about something that will happen in the near future?

    • @chicago2598
      @chicago2598 4 года назад +4

      you don't use simple tense to talk about something that will happen in the near future.

    • @chicago2598
      @chicago2598 4 года назад +2

      present simple tense is for habits/routines usually. Can you give an example?

    • @florencelee5385
      @florencelee5385 4 года назад +2

      @@chicago2598 "lisa arrives on sunday" and "lisa is arriving on sunday" so which one is right?

    • @chicago2598
      @chicago2598 4 года назад +17

      @@florencelee5385 Oh, I see. Well, the safe and more correct one is "Lisa is arriving on Sunday."
      You will hear english speakers use both. Both can be correct.
      The reason both can be correct = you are speaking of a fixed timetable/schedule. Schedules can use present simple. for example, a plane arrival can use present tense.
      "Lisa's plane arrives on Sunday. So, we need to clean the extra bedroom. I will pick her up at the airport."

    Good evening teacher. Is this sentence is correct using present continuous? If not how could you correct it?
    Ex: At 6:00 a.m. Allan is asumming duty and responsibilities in his office.

    • @ShawEnglishOnline
      @ShawEnglishOnline  3 года назад +2

      It is a little awkward sentence so I will do my best. I put it in two grammar forms.
      At 6:00 a.m. Allan is assuming the duties and responsibilities in his office.
      At 6:00 a.m. Allan will assume the duties and responsibilities in his office.
