    The reason your toes are catching the mudguard is twofold: Firstly the rake of the front forks is steep rather than slack which shortens the wheelbase by bringing the front wheel closer to the bottom bracket and secondly, the positioning of your feet on the peddles is wrong and I've noticed this in many of your videos. The correct position is not with the peddle under the tarsal bones of your feet (The centres or arches of your feet). Doing this robs you of both the strength and the inbuilt suspension available in your feet - it's a bit like having flat feet. You need to move your feet rearwards so that the metatarsal bones of your feet are pressing on the pedal (The pads between the toes and the arches of your feet). This will add back strength through the suspension you can apply through your feet by using them as levers, in the same way you use your feet as levers to lift onto your toes - which occurs naturally when walking and causes you to be able to propel yourself forward and push off from your toes when walking. There's one other adjustment you should make and that is to raise your saddle slightly. Currently your knees are too bent when your legs are extended (Pedal in the lowest part of it's rotation). Again that robs both strength and leverage from each rotation, will tire you out earlier especially on long rides and ultimately will lead to joint pain in the knees and possibly in the hips. If you want to pop over two doors, I'd be very happy to help you really set up a bike properly. Weekend of the 10th/11th February?

    Great to see some more reviews coming for this bike. I got one at the start of February and it's currently in a bike shop to get a new brake lever fitted that won't leak. Sadly customer service (which seems to be in China) misunderstood the issue and hasn't helped, so I just wanted to be able to ride properly (not with just one brake) and will pay out of my own pocket.
    That problem aside, I noticed that my bike was derestricted out of the box. Unless you install the app and set it up, you'll be set to go all the way to around 28mph. You can select 15.5mph, but as the bike ships from Europe (with a European 2 pin plug also) I guess they didn't see fit to change.
    I also have a third cable capped off, an orange one, which has nothing to plug in to. I have to wonder if that's for a throttle that we didn't get but might be an option on newer builds? There's nothing in the manual that just says to connect the TWO plugs - but I absolutely have three. I don't think a throttle is needed because, as you say, the motor kicks in immediately. This was one thing I was worried about as my other e-bike (a MiRider) is slow to kick in, making the throttle essential.
    I am happy with the bike even though I am without it right now, but I do think if you do a follow up video you need to mention the customer service or lack of - because it does feel like a company that isn't really set up in the UK properly. Sell from China, ship from Europe, and if you have a problem it can take days to reply and they don't seem particularly helpful or understanding.
    Early days I'm sure, but hopefully as long as the motor and battery don't fail, I can get any other issues fixed locally. Bike warranties are always a bit of a minefield.
    Finally, great video and another happy subscriber!

    The easiest solution to saddle discomfort is to change the handlebar to a drop bar not change the saddle. Yes you will need to change out brakes and gears. Changing the saddle to a more comfortable one prolongs the ride, but drop bars eliminate saddle discomfort by shifting your body weight to not directly on your ass.

      I am afraid your suggestion is completely impractical in real life. A wider saddle will suit the more right position for a more comfortable-bike. The controls on most e-bikes are only for MTB style bars. It would take a mechanical genius to make these controls applicable to dropped [racing] bars. Where would it all go? Dropped bars are also much narrower than MTB bars. Losing the relaxed, easy control and steering. No doubt the big names in racing kit will release appropriate equipment eventually. BUT, only if racing road bikes become battery assisted in highly visible, organised competition.

    Also a hybrid may have a higher bottom bracket height than a road bike, this increases the problem of getting your foot down if the saddle is far enough from the pedals for an efficient peddaling action.

  • @petercornish9903
    @petercornish9903 3 месяца назад

    Don't pedal with your insteps, put the ball of your foot over the pedal axle. Then not only will you be able to pedal far stronger for far longer but your shoe will not engage the front mudguard. I think that you may be instepping because your saddle is set way too low and you are unconsciously trying to dispose of excess leg length. A real cyclist will not be able to touch the ground with more than a tiptoe if they stay in the saddle when they stop, and not even that if the road is cambered. Always look for a kerb to put your foot on when you stop, or come down in front of the saddle when you stop.

      Well, there's a difference. While many people can achieve 25-30 mph, few can sustain it unless they have a road bike and/or are well-trained. The latter also implies they have experience on the roads, know how to read traffic and act appropriately and understand that even though you have right of way, you will still bear the worst consequences in the event of a crash. Additionally, e-bikes are typically heavier.
      Those who purchase e-bikes here in Denmark are predominantly elderly people who otherwise would resort to public transport or travelling by car. Even with the restrictions on e-bike top speed, e-bikes are more commonly involved in traffic accidents.

      It's one of those laws that I just completely ignore for that reason alone. Why does it matter if someone is using a motor to go say 20-25mph versus using their legs. I've had genuinely legal ebikes before and they are so annoying to ride as you are constantly bouncing off the speed limiter and the motor cuts in and out, it's actually a rather unpleasant thing and distracted me from the ride due to the jolt every time my speed dropped below 15.5 for a split second🤣. My current bike is topping out around 35 it's done 3000 miles now so I might try and add a motor to the front wheel as well.

    If you haul on the back brake full force with hydraulic brakes you can lock up the wheel very easily, especially in the gutter where there is often loose material and more moisture that rolls under your tyre and allows it to lock up. Don't blame the tyres, although they may be Chinese not German, learn to use hydraulic brakes. The tyres were so new, you may not have worn off any moulding glaze. If the arse end breaks away immediately release the brake a little and re-apply. Be wary of overuse of the front brake as that can send you over the handlebar, but about 40% of your braking effort should be on the front. The important thing is not to snatch the front brake, feed it in progressively if you can, by practice you develop a very good feel for what you can do when a myriad of potential SMIDSYs come a calling.

  • @Technician4444

    I think you are still misunderstanding some of the basic principles of how ebikes work here. That Motor is no different to any other 250w Motor. You're reaching 30mph on it because of your peddling which is easier on that Bike because it's lighter. How fast is it if you 'Ghost' pedal ? it certainly won't reach 30mph for sure.
    Forget about this 250 watts thing, they all peak much higher. You could fit a 48v Battery to that Bike and providing the controller could handle it you would get 33% more speed, all 250w Ebike Motors will take a higher Voltage it's not the Volts that kills them it's the Amps.

      You have to remember I'm trying to sell the video. As seen in the video without help the bike goes 20. I love that the bike easily gets to 30. A combination of light weight, gear ratio, thin tyres etc. So I'm talking about the mechanical, non electrical part of the bike.
      Also remember that some ebikes make it extremely hard to pedal after the assistance cuts out due to motors with extra resistance (like direct drive or mid drive), fat tyres, heavy weight.

    • @Technician4444
      @Technician4444 5 месяцев назад

      It's going 20mph because you're peddling it that's why you're breathing heavier than at rest. Ghost pedal and the speed will drop to 15.5, that's the law unless it's been derestricted by the manufacturer for the purposes of your demo. The bike's light so it's easier to push along even with only slight pressure on the pedals. That said I appreciate your honesty in commenting you are 'selling' the Video and therefore the bike itself, we just have to be clear that any Ebike will go faster than 15.5mph if you pedal fast. They often come derestricted both to me and to buyers. Again some ebikes struggle to get much over 17 when derestricted. They may be limited by the controller. Some '250w' ebikes have a 48v battery so much more actual power going through the motor. Bikes that are classed the same can be extremely different in performance.

Now if you have a bike that has been modified so as not to stop delivering power to the drive then it's against the Law to ride it on the road. You are breaking the silly UK e-bike speed law. A small child on a kiddy's bike with stabilisers can manage 15mph. If you hit anybody while riding that thing you are liable and uninsured.

      When it's bought it will be locked to 15.5. Halfords ebikes can all go over 15.5 if unlocked.

      @@e-VRC Unlocking an e-bike is illegal. Making you a criminal and liable for any injury you cause. Possibly millions. You also invalidate any guarantee. Many cheap e-bikes won't have the brakes to cope with the higher speeds. The motors and gears can't cope for long either.

      I've tried telling e-VRC about his responsibilities to his 8k + subs but he thinks it's all a joke. Fair enough, but it's just a matter of time before the law pounces. Pity really this could be a very informative channel...over to you Plod. @@Tricyklist

    you not know how to set up the bike. Saddle too low and your feet nuff said.

      Problem is everyone thinks I either need to get somewhere really fast or I want to be Bradley Wiggins. This is simply how I like to ride a bike. It's set up so I can ride it how I want it. Granted the hitting the mudguards issue won't be an issue for many people (great news!) but it's only happened to me on this bike and I merely commented on that fact. Great bike though 👍👍

    Man these pre built ebikes are starting to become really good and really cheap... It's a lovely looking fast bicycle. Battery says 15amp discharge rate and im assuming the controller is a tiny below that so yeah this bike is gonna pull around 600 watts at peak, combined with the really lightweight it's no wonder it's quite quick.

      The rider is by far the heaviest component of any e-bike. 😉

      @@Tricyklist rider weight can be decreased (easier said than done lol) but bike can't do it's fairly important it's kept to a minimum. Mine is 11kg heavier than the bike in the video but it was an old mountain bike to begin with and the rear motor is a massive direct drive.
