You're wrong. Coached 30 years from K-through college. Coach McD and collegiate all-Americans. The coach sets the table by the offense she runs and the philosophy she employs. I like Sides but she coaches this team as one would a well-balanced HS team. Ball movement, inside out play, equal opportunity shooting. You can't do that when you have a player like Clark. Basketball 101.

Wheeler played the 1, Mitchel the 2, and CC the 3… for 5+ minutes of the 4th quarter. Three Guards that are defensive liabilities against a team that cannot shoot and only scores in the paint. Smith got exposed defensively, but that is 100% on coaching to leave her on an island against Chicago’s bigs with no support.

CAP! CC never plays the 3, and the players on the floor broke down on offense when trying to execute the play, thats why Boston had to shoot that 3 at the end of the game. It wasn't the coach's fault that the players didn't run the play right, hence, Boston taking the last shot. Smith was in the game when they went up by 15 points, even with Angel Reese dominating, so thats not an excuse. The 5 players on the court didn't take advantage of their opportunities because they messed up. Period. Sky had 20 turnovers, and only won by one - THAT'S THE PLAYERS' FAULT, not the coach

So yes, Caitlin was the 3 as wheeler and Mitchel are 67inches in shoes. Either the American education system has failed, or you did not read my post. At no point did I say to remove Smith or bash her. She was exposed, because she had no weak side support. The combination of those 3 guards can never be on the floor together especially against a team that can only score within 10ft of the rim.

Honestly Wheeler and Wallace should never play 24 to 25 minutes, Lexie Hull should have been in and Taylor
Hull can’t make a layup and got her ankles busted or fouls on defense. Wheeler has made 4th quarter clutch defensive plays that helped them win in the previous games. CC played every second of the game and took her breaks and rest by standing around on offense.
Horrible coaching - the absolute worst!
I was just surprised with seven seconds left. She didn't call a time out and set a good play. You have to have a good play called there. Not just the ole pick and roll. On the last pick and roll Caitlin really should have come off the pick and drove to the basket. Cuz no team is going to let her have an uncontested three late. However. If she drives there. Cailtin has a layup or an easy bunny for the win. Or, any easy dish.

Fever has another great rookie player in Celest, who can give you that defense they are lacking and the coach never puts her in. When they have the lead and Wheeler is struggling, I believe Celest can do a better job.
The Fever really want to win here is the future line up, Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston,Temi Fagbenle, Katie Lou Samuelson, and sub the other players in and out as needed. Just get rid of Kelsey Mitchell and Erica Wheeler and you have a winning team.

But beyond that, this game 3 of her turnovers were due to Kelsi Mitchell not catching a pass with a clear run to the rim. At times in the season Aliah has had the butter fingers. But even Boston said she has to continue to make those and her teammates have to get better receiving the passes. Two players who should not get the minutes are Wallace and Wheeler, especially Wheeler. She is a worse version of Mitchell. Not as much quickness and always looking for her own shot first. She has the highest contract in the WNBA, and that is because Sides wanted her on the team . And Wheeler and Clark on the court at the same time is poor judgement on Sides, because once the ball is in Wheeler's hands it never finds it's way back to Clark. Lexie Hull and Samuelson work well on the court, play better defense, make the threes and drives to the basket that make sense, and compliment when Caitlyn on the court. Especially when both Mitchell and Wheeler are on the court. That is when between the two that too much iso is taking place, usually for bad shots late in the game. Staying on offense, when Sides put's Caitlyn in the corner, with no screening to get her the ball is just stupid. The third to last possession, and the second to last, no imagination of getting Clark the ball was designed for an inbound play. And the one where it was so bad, you got the ball to Boston at the three point line, and had to throw a hail Mary and made it...WOW! And whether you call Caitlyn a scorer or a shooter, she has to have more than 3 shots a quarter 15-18 a game is more like it, not the 10-12 we been seeing. But defensive strategy and adjustments, there is nothing there. Smith was getting eaten up by Reese the entire 4th quarter. How about switch matchups. We can't try that. How about sending double teams to force her to give the ball up. Naw! How about putting Lexie Hull in the game instead of Erica Wheeler who becomes a disrupter in both offense and defense. Nope. Just let it roll. Two games in a row, the Fever have oponnets going to the line, especially with and 1's, on phantom calls. You said several games back, you DIDN't want the players getting technical fouls, you would do that. Have 'not seen you standing up for the team. The game against the Dream, their couch complained about fouls, got a T, but they got twice as many calls as the fever the rest of the game. There were people complaining about these things still the last 4 games about Sides. You don't want to be trashing the team when you get some wins. She is probably a great person. But she has NEVER, EVER been on a team of .500 or better as an assistant her entire career. She hasn't seen winning. Never been exposed to winning. Why are you expecting winning from someone who hasn't had success. You shouldn't. This experiment needed to end weeks ago.
I really don't think firing Sides is the solution she's a 2nd year coach. Indiana is adjusting to how to use Clark and likewise Clark is learning to be a WNBA point guard which means she got to learn to control the pace of the game to accurately hit her teammates. Her vision is impeccable but you are not gonna out run women in the WNBA as you did in college. Running at Chicago speed worked for them because Chennedy Carter and Angel Reese are athletic getting to the basket.
Chicago is a new team with a first year coach. This game could have went either way and both are gonna struggle as they play more experienced teams in the weeks ahead of the Olympic break. Ultimately Nalyssa Smith and Aliyah Boston are not great interior defenders to keep Angel Reese off the glass. Indiana is gonna is take another L as they play Nenka Ogwumike and Ezi Megabor two of the best inside players in the W when they play Seattle Thursday. Nenka Ogwumike is a bit of Ant Davis and Kevin Garnett.

It looks like the Fevers coach throw the game. I won't be suprised if money was on the game too coming to Sides ?. Her facial expression is not trusted. No way in hell Fevers should have lost this game. Something fishy went down. Clark knew the coach blew the game too but is keeping quiet
CC seems fed up with her coach. I'm sensing that lately. Sides may need to go in favor of Lisa Bluder from Iowa. She played her best ball with her. I think Bluder and Kate Martin played a bigger part in how great CC was playing than many may have thought
I am one of those fans and YES that coach needs to GO, ASAP. In any sport the buck stops at the COACH's door and Christie has shown her ineptness since the beginning but this particular loss was the final nail in the coffin for me.

You got to look at it like it was in the game.
The team is facing defeat and hoping for free throw woes. They are granted that somehow, and then Caitlin Clark manages to finally "rebound" and get the possession after the rest of the team fumbles it. She took the ball from Carter, then dribbled, then got trapped and had to pass it to Kristy Wallace. That player then tries to run into another player and convert on a bad layup and then throws up a bad shot (even though she had Boston trailing) and they didn't even look at that.
How can you expect Caitlin Clark to steal the ball, then dribble up the court, then deal with a double team/ triple team, then attempt to make a shot against that defensive attention, and then make that shot... It's asking a lot and makes it seem like that original "we got players around that can make shots" that the coach said was literally nonsense.
And the coach's lineup to close the game was pretty bad:
Mitchell, Wheeler, Clark, a combo of the bigs. Then Wallace comes in for Wheeler near the end, for some reason. It was pretty bad since Wheeler held the ball the literal end of the game. The coach needs to lay off the Wheeler/ Wallace vag train since that seems like this is basically why they even get minutes at all.
If you're the coach and you got a great shooter like Clark, then simply run a play for her. Don't think they'd put Kobe somewhere on the side just so Derek Fisher can play a drive and layup game on his own for 3 minutes.
I'm an Indiana fan and our problem is defense. We couldn't get a rebound or a stop. Now Sides failed to adjust defensively . She let Smith get cooked all night. Sides should have put Saxton in to help Boston and Taylor in to try to slow Carter down.
True basketball players understand when it gets down to one shot or certain plays not all plays that a coach draw up work sometimes you have to deferr
Here’s an example of terrible decisions by the coach. Putting your best shooter as the one to throw the ball inbounds as the last play is incomprehensible. Wallace could have done that. The play should have been get the ball to Caitlin and let her do her thing. She’s won games before by beating the buzzer. The play should have looked like this:

There's no way the player lost this game..... how do you give up 15pt. it's obvious the coach let the game get away from her. she has a killer in CC but she's loyal to the rest and if she continue, she will be gone. Pride come before the fall
If the fever lose its the teammates fault or the coaches fault or the referee's fault Or. The Other Teams fault or the WNBA's fault or the weather.
I'm not a expert or anything but from what I understand in sports in general the greats demand the ball every time in those situations MJ, Kobe, Steph, Durant, etc. angel Reese demanded the ball for her team and got them the win Caitlyn played nice and took the L. I also don't like the game plan I heard the coach had for the fever. She said there a inside out team but from looking at there team I'd argue there a outside in team. Got shooters and there big men in the post aren't really big men they got bodied on the boards. If you want to keep it real I think the coaching in the 4th quarter was trash and I think the "star" player showed she wasn't the star. There both to blame in my opinion for blowing that 15 point lead. But good on Reese for being that star for her team to get them back in the game she's showing us that she's going to be a great. Started watching the wnba this year because a friend told me about Caitlyn Clark but after this game Reese shows a lot more promise to be a star than Caitlyn.
CC certainly had her moments with the 3 ball. But perhaps maybe Chicago Defended her well.

The deal is you gotta make shots! Coaching is weak. Personal changes. And Clark needs to be turned loose! But Reese played strong until the end!
I have not relented or changed my attitude towards the coach. I would not let her near any of my children to potty train them much less Coach them. No set plays for Clark, no time outs while a 15 point lead evaporates. If you are told by the coach to be a decoy and not shoot what do you do? Sides is a joke, and have you ever played basketball? You do what your coach tells you.
Blame the coach, other players blame anything or anybody when it comes to CC, I'm tired of her already...
