    Larry Allen might be the best guard to play the game, could bench 700 pounds and to make that sprint run down is one of the most insane plays I've ever seen. Also a gentle giant, wish the Vikings could have had him.

    I am not sure if this qualifies but in 1993 Reggie White recovered a fumble and ran it back 10 yards. He had the presence of mind to lateral the ball to LeRoy Butler who ran 30 yards for a touchdown and kept running threw the endzone and jump the wall into crowd, later known as the Lambeau Leap.

    8:42 It's not the guy carrying the ball that is the big guy. It is the guy that caught up with him & chased a very fast linebacker down. In some ways this is the most impressive of any of them. I can't remember if you did Major League Ball Girls. If not you have to do one of those. Sometimes it isn't the pro players that are the most impressive.

    the '85 Chicago Bears used this tactic on Green Bay 1 year after Green Bay humiliated them at the end of the '84 season. They then used it as an actual play at first at the goal line and then at other times. #72 William "The Refrigerator" Perry was their favorite Big Guy. He was 335# during this season as of 2021 he's 450# and needs a wheelchair. This got called the "P Formation. The Chicago Bears were also the team that created the "T Formation" back in 1933.

    With "Refrigerator " Perry, as the story goes during a press conference early on with his time with the Bears, someone slide a refrigerator behind him, and you couldn't see it. So he was bigger then an actual refrigerator. This was back when no NFL player was as big as most current linemen. Now they are expected to be bigger and still pretty fast despite their size, so they can run down quarter backs if on defense, or assist their QB is on offense.

  • @williamjordan5554
    @williamjordan5554 Год назад

    The first clip featured a defensive player playing on offence (occassionally) in the Super Bowl for the 1985 season. That Bears defense is considered the greatest of all time. He was one of the few players over 300 pounds. Now every team has half a dozen or more players heavier than that. Chicago hasn't won a championship since. The Bear at 6:25 was several decades later.

    Thing is, the big, heavy guys are usually defensive linemen who don’t get to score very often. Safeties also tend to be pretty big, but they tend to be more muscle than fat and double as a far field receiver when they need to as well as be the deep field blockers for the usually faster and more agile receivers. But yeah, it’s not that often when a 300+ pound lineman gets the ball and hits the zone.

    Just to give folks an idea of how big these guys are (if you weren't already familiar, here are some stats:
    Here's some stats;
    William "The Refrigerator" Perry - Height: 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m), Weight: 335 lb (152 kg)
    Busari Alamu "B J" Raji (Jr.) - Height: 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m), Weight: 337 lb (153 kg)
    Daniel Connolly - Height: 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m), Weight: 305 lb (138 kg)
    Brett Keisel - Height: 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m), Weight: 285 lb (129 kg)
    Vincent Lamar Wilfork - Height: 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m), Weight: 325 lb (147 kg)
    Shaun Rogers - Height: 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m), Weight: 350 lb (159 kg)
    Donald Ward Penn - Height: 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m), Weight: 315 lb (143 kg)
    Keith Traylor - Height: 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m), Weight: 340 lb (154 kg)
    Sam Adams - Height: 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m), Weight: 350 lb (159 kg)
    John Stuart "Jumbo" Elliott - Height: 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m), Weight: 308 lb (140 kg)
    Dontari Poe - Height: 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m), Weight: 342 lb (155 kg)
    Larry Allen - Height: 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m), Weight: 335 lb (152 kg) -
    Was the Offensive Tackle who from the far side of the field to make the tackle on the guy that was "fast for a big guy" -
    who was Linebacker Darion Conner who was "only" 6 ft 2 in, (1.88 m) and 250 lb (113kg)
    On Average, Offensive and Defensive Tackles are the Tallest and Heaviest Players on the Field,
    Some Defenses use a "Nose Guard" or "Nose Tackle" these are often the heaviest men on the field.
    Currently, Offensive Tackle Trent Brown is the heaviest man in the NFL, listed at: 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m) and 380 lbs (172 kgs)
    (I am aware that these stats may vary from a player's playing weight at various times in their career -
    but they give reasonably clear idea of the size of these men.)

    Just as an FYI, in the NFL the bigger you are the higher your jersey number. Mostly because of the position you play. Single digits and teens are usually Quarterbacks. 20s and 30s are usually Running Backs, Full Backs and Half Backs. 40s and 50s are usually Offensive Line. 50s and 60s, Specials Teams. 70s are Tight Ends and Corners. 80s Wide Recievers, and lastly 90s are Defensive Line. Offensive Line can be big, but Defensive is usually bigger.

    When American Football list a big player, typically linemen, at 300lbs (137kilos) they're really 320lbs (145kilos). A player listed at 330lbs is really 350-360lbs (164kilos). There even has been players who were 400lbs (182 kilos), which make their athletic achievements all the more remarkable. Imagine a cute little Futbol player being chased down by an opposing player literally over twice his size and 3 times stronger. The last play by Larry Allen, 340 easy and the strongest man in the NFL chasing down another big man 100lbs lighter than he, was the most athletic play I've ever seen by a big man.

Skills translate but American football is way more physical and as you get older way more specialized. Started as a wr, moved to cb cuz I was fast and small but being a gk I had great anticipation and intercept skills(I also played cf and ss in baseball til I was about 12). I started punting footballs 🏈 before I played soccer ⚽️… my punts had massive hang time… loved when 🏈 and ⚽️ seasons overlapped and I would stand in goal and take shots from the 🏈 players and none of them would stand in goal and take 60-70mph shots at their head from this, at the time, 5’8” 126lb dude. 😂 yes I would aim a pk at your head. 😂

    When you name your baby Jumbo Elliott, he better grow up to match the name. He was 6feet 7 inches tall and weighed 308 pounds. I guess that qualifies.

    The very first one @0:55 was a travesty by Mike Ditka. Walter Peyton was the revered RB on Chicago and Ditka totally f’d him out of the only Super Bowl TD Peyton could have by that pathetic stunt to Perry. Just awful.

    I'd love to see you two do a video about the highlights of Minnesota Twins star Willians Astudio. The sheer variety of positions he plays and the proficiency with which he plays them are a blast to watch.
