The issue with marvel legends is that they reuse plenty of body molds but rarely add anything new to them. No shading, no new accessories, nothing. They don’t even lower the price, they actually increased it by $10! And it’s these kinds of scummy practices that make them so hated. If you look at something like sh figuarts they reuse plenty of their goku body molds but they actually add new unique faces and paint jobs on top of them already having a good base mold, and the price is $35. Then there’s the new naruto figure they made which is a completely new sculpt with tons of accessories and great articulation and it costs less than this spider man which is already in an outdated mold and comes with less accessories than most spider man figures. If import companies are starting to sell things for cheaper than domestic for a much higher quality then there really is a big problem. I mean even jada toys who is very new to the game is starting to make some amazing moves. Marvel Legends got me $800+ cuz all the toys I got aint worth it anymore😂, I have to sell the figures I got at low price cuz I know the figures I got over the years aint worth $20+🎉. Not gonna scam my buyers 😊
There are things that bother me about Hasbro and McFarlane. I enjoyed the Marvel Legends X-Men 97 line. I picked all of them up. . Hasbro gets lazy while McFarlane makes some weird sculpt choices and gives us way too many Batman figures. Also, I'd rather have more accessories with a McFarlane than a card and a stand. More hands, heads, weapons, etc. I really like that Knightfall Batman though.
Agree on that, would they have more accesories, it surely would appeal more to collectors. I collect the Masterverse line from MOTU, so I know just how much of a difference a good set of accesories can make when buying a figure.
Why hasbro never learn to left that ancient articulation on torso and use double ball peg? Just look at jada toys street fighter figur, with double ball peg, you can get good ab crunch, rotation, side to side, something a spidy figure needed
First one is on the sunfire body mold. Was used for a lot of other figures ECXEPT for spiderman suprisingly enough. Recently however. Theyve been using it for spiderman but never in the classic deco. In fact, they made a whole new body mold, say for maybe the arms and legs, for spiderman which is the predecessor to the "renew your vows" buck.
Inflation is one thing, but this seems like a really big foul up on the price. Why is this guy hitting the same price ($35.99) in the US as in Canada. This seems like Hasbro accidentally listed this at this price to American retailers and they ran with it. In Canada this figure is listed all over for that price, which is equal to every regular release Marvel Legends figure.
@@andresreynoso7254 oof! I also died to get it!! It would've been my second figure but that headsculpt.... and fixed hands Such a let down, even the mk 85 was a disappointment to me, I really gave up on hasbro
The Mafex figures are amazing I really wish hasbro would start innovating with their collector oriented figures the prices keep going up and it’s the same quality as it was when it was cheaper they were 19.99 when I started buying them they are now $5 more I get inflation is a thing but they could at least at in more joints or actually make a new figure instead of repatriating everything
I've been collecting marvel legends for several years now, and due to the films going downhill, and the figures going downhill in some areas, I kinda gave up on marvel. The reason I liked marvel in the first place was because of my dad, and I've been a Godzilla and Transformers fan for several years now, so I'd rather invest more in them than marvel.
Holy cow, been watching you since young. I remember your iconic intro and the song dude. keep it up, love to see the success. From abridged plays, to the og darkspider David reviews. Man... On the floors of Tokyo Or down in London town to go, go With a record selection and a mirror's reflection I'm dancing with myself HAHA
I’m telling you folks.. save up your money and buy imports, now they are only the price of three marvel legends. They might not do obscure characters like hasbro but hasbros quality has declined so much they’re not even worth getting at this point.
So, as a long time Power Rangers fan, i have no problem with having the same mold over and over with just a repaint. I mean, every single team of 5-7 rangers are just two separate molds (male and female) with the almost the exact same suit with only slight difference. My problem is the rise on the price and the specific "character tax" that hasbro seems to do.
Honestly I think marvel legends just generally lacks in quality for me, it feels like it wants to be a higher quality 1:12 line but instead it it just feels like a knockoff, it’s why I’ve ended up just sticking to import fig collecting and only really considering mezco for domestic figs. And since I do mostly go domestic legends figs don’t fit scale wise, and honestly these would all be fine if it came with a bunch of accessories to back it up but it doesn’t even come with enough to stack up to modern figma which just do the bare minimum, and doing less than bare minimum for the price they ask for while feeling like a knockoff? That’s why I’d say I personally hate legends. All I can really say in their favor is they tend to do a lot more characters than many import companies do, still hoping for an SHF moon knight so I don’t need to dip into legends lol
Only things stopping me from buying it are the price, the choice of paint colour (would have like the deeper blue + res combo the RYV fig has) and the fact that this figure looks comicy when Miles - from the same game - looks realistic. Can't understand the bad decision making they had for the new one.
@@DarkspiderDavid91 technically the number is higher but it’s all relative, and in this specific case we had it for a “normal” price at least at GameStop.
Hasbro's price points keep creeping up and they're pricing more collectors out of their lines. I stopped with Legends and Black Series. I am not so invested in Andor or The Mandalorian to buy 5 figures of one-appearance characters at $25 a pop (or higher), or a fifth repaint of the lead character I *do* like. They want to rope in collectors... but those same collectors tend to be savvy enough to know where to draw the line on when too much is too much, and domestic versus import figures. Buy five Mando repaints or buy one really nice Mando with a ton of accessories from SHF or MAFEX? Pretty easy decision.
2:00 I'm the complete opposite, at first I really liked the suit, but after playing on PC it just feels like a "Walmart" suit. That head sculpt is amazing tho, would be a good contender for a 90s cartoon custom.
I have no way home spider man and iron spider so that is enough for me, why I need a 100 spider man with the same body mold that is just waisted my money .
Frank and Sons pretty fair prices they check online value and know if they want to sell it they have to find a value somewhere in between reseller and a steal
No need for the silly web accessories, just give us all the proper hands..2 fists, 2 wall crawlers, 2 shooters. Oh, and for the increased price point..extra head.
i wish we got a brand new sculpt for the new one, like we have for pretty much every other gamerverse spider-man figure after the original 2018 version, but it’s hasbro so it’s to be expected unfortunately. also i don’t know if it’s just my figure but the blue looks more grey to me on the new one, definitely prefer the original colour scheme on the 2018
Not agreeing with price hikes and i didn't order either figures but the original ps4 spidy figure came out as Gstop exclusive in 2018/2019 before the world chaos of 2020 so like every product and companies across the board hiked prices past inflation rise prices.
If I remember correctly the PS4 Spidey body mold was first utilized for the Marvel Legends Pizza Spidey. I'm pretty sure cause around that time Diamond Select had released their own Spectacular Spidey and it was pretty much a battle between Marvel Selects superior molding detail vs the Marvel Legends' new super articulated body.
Someone should let this guy know that government plays the largest role in what price hasbro charges. In the years between the two figures, government has inflated the currency supply and hasbro along with all manufacturers had to adjust retail pricing accordingly.
The increase in price outpaces inflation. In other words, while a price increase would be warranted, the price has increased beyond just trying to cover increased costs due to inflation.
The steep 35 dollar price is all that dissuades me. Way too expensive for any Marvel Legend of that size. The lack of two web heads is a non-issue for me.
Now I already have the 2018 figure, but I'm tempted to get the 2023 one too. Mostly because it's the cheapest way to get the RYV Spider-Man at the moment. Ya surprisingly in Canada the new figure is the regular price, and doesn't have the same price increase as it is in the US. I do wonder if they did this to save some budget for a future PS5 Black Suit figure with new sculpting. Also I do find it hilarious that people are saying stuff about this when McFarlane is coming out with TWO Blue Beetle movie figures with different accessories, as well as the numerous amounts of repaints and releases with different accessories.
I hate how tight those shoulder joints are i usually use a small blade to shave off a thin layer of that shoulder cuff then add some Vaseline and it rotates smoothly with no issues
I collected all the Spider-Man classic looking villains of marvel legends. I got most of them for some decent prices however through the the span of a few short months they increased the prices by a lot. So much so I had to stop collecting marvel legends. Which I don’t mind because some of there new releases don’t come with much and are to expensive. I’m just glad I got most of the figures before I stoped
What kills my interest for marvel legends is that I know what I'm buying isn't new, it's simply another paint deco difference from currently existing parts and soon, the shelf begins to look uniform in shape, so why buy the exact same toy but with a slight different paint job? It's like early Funko Pop Vinyls, they were notorious for being lazy in design with cookie cutting. Also, why pay £10-£15 MORE for a 6 inch figure when I can get a bigger, just as articulate and more detailed one from McFarlane? It makes no sense. Hasbro has a monopoly and they know it.
I personally never understood why they made the ps4 Spider-Man’s red into more of an orange and the blue more of a cyan. But hey it makes it a little bit more unique.
Yet again, I am ahead of the curb on hating things. I've disliked Marvel Legends since 2015. They just never felt worth the price point, which at the time was nearly double what I could get my Marvel Universe(RIP)figures for. And over time, as more and more toylines just decided to be their version of Marvel Legends, I kinda grew distant from collecting. Cause why bother when almost everything is just gonna be the same crap I don't like?
This is why you might as well pay good cash for mafex or sh figuarts and get a good spiderman, instead of paying for 100 hasbro spidermen before they finally get it right.
@Sum Teng Wong that's why you make tons of research and only order from reputable company's who will replace damaged stuff. I finally decided to get the s.h. figuarts tobey maguire spiderman, and it's so good it's the only one il ever need.
Not only are the white Spider logos and stitching not included in sculpt (inaccurate) but the color schemes are straight up wrong, the blue was never that light in the 2018 game. Also, these bodies are just way too bulky for Insomniac Spider-Man
I feel like the blue of spider-man 2 is too off color but I love the brighter look of it compared to the original one. I feel like that brighter orangish red is more fitting for insomniac spider-man
My first two and likely only Marvel Legends figures would be the Retro 2099 and Amadeus Cho Iron Spider because as far as I know, this is the only line that has those two They look great and all but man, the quality control can be rough - Iron Spider is great but 2099 has very tight thigh cuts and his right leg is wobbly I was kinda hoping that for the price point, these would be on the more premium side of things, akin to PR Lightning Collection It makes me sad that my favorite spider would have that kind of issue - I mean he can hold poses well but I worry how long it’ll take before it breaks
It is just so HATEFUL how Hasbro ML team treats us, customers, with these scrutiny repaints with HIGH PRICES and selled as something new... not even the accessories are new. What are we paying for? Paint???!! that's why i've abandoned ML line...
The wallcrawling hand is useless. I mean, you need two wallcrawling hands to pose him wall crawling... You mean two wallcrawling hands if you want him in the classic crouching pose...
Tbh I don’t really care about the differences or what other people think I just really love the new one because it’s more better to pose and it looks better but the old one is kind of alright but it’s too bulky
Hasbro being Hasbro, that's it. I collect the Mattel Masterverse line from MOTU, and for the price you pay I believe you trully receive a good amount of accesories with an already spectacular figure. When it's a deluxe, you see the luxury details, when you hold a figure in your hand you feel its tremendous quality. I'm not saying there aren't any superb Marvel Legends, because indeed there are, quite a lot. But when you see something like this, an overpriced figure with few and poorly chose accesories... Well, it just makes sense not to buy. Then again, I do think that this particular Spiderman figure is pretty good, but it's everything else that prevents you to go for it.
So far in 2023 I’ve bought Daredevil Elektra… & that’s it. I finally got my hands on the MojoWorld box set for a great price. but I’m pretty sure that was last year.
I’m just picking up the Guardians Volume 3 wave and that’s pretty much it, I haven’t collected marvel legends since 2017, and I just love the guardians too much so I had to pick those up haha
It wouldn’t be 1.5x more expensive. The new one is 1.5x as much. So it would be 1.5x as expensive. I just pretty much read that “more expensive” is incorrect. I learned something too.
i collect transformers and black series and yeah, hasbro's stuff suffers, they barely improve if at all, and the prices for what you get are borderline scams, hell a recent black series i got (fives) has wonky details, like the helmet details are way WAY too small
The reds are reversed though PS5 the red is darker and ps4 had that red orangey color. You look at screenshots of the game and they are reversed. That's my only complaint on the figure honestly. I hope that when they make a Venom... cause they are gonna make one of the game that they include the ps5 symbiote suit and for that they need a new model cause of the particular textures of the suit
I recently got The sh figuarts bootleg version and I can deffinetly say is 100 times better than this two versions (obviusly not better than The og figuarts) and is just fun how a bootleg figure smashed two original Marvel legends.
Kinda unfair that insomniac miles gets his own figure sculpt and all that and insomniac Peter just gets the average figure sculpt, but it’s hasbro what’d you expect.

It's because they're terrible at using ball joints correctly
My first and only marvel legends I ever bought was the homecoming spidey advanced suit and immediately regretted lol
Ooh that was a bad choice. The MCU ones are pretty bad. I’d recommend the Renew Your Vows Spidey or the Retro Symbiote suit. Those are prett sweet
In my case it was infinity war iron man…IT SUCKS
@@andresreynoso7254 oof! I also died to get it!! It would've been my second figure but that headsculpt.... and fixed hands
Such a let down, even the mk 85 was a disappointment to me, I really gave up on hasbro
I don't "hate" Hasbro, it is just a fact that Hasbro "doesn't love" us......
Man...
On the floors of Tokyo
Or down in London town to go, go
With a record selection and a mirror's reflection
I'm dancing with myself HAHA
I’m telling you folks.. save up your money and buy imports, now they are only the price of three marvel legends. They might not do obscure characters like hasbro but hasbros quality has declined so much they’re not even worth getting at this point.
Yea this sculpt benefits him because it's taller bit the Amazing Fantasy body is better fit for a spiderman figure in general.
I want toy biz back. The Spider-Man 2 figures were awesome
I got it for a lot cheaper since they messed up the price at Gamestop in Canada, I'm ok with it at that price (also it's my first Spidey figure).
Yea, ain't Canada way higher with their prices?
@@DarkspiderDavid91 technically the number is higher but it’s all relative, and in this specific case we had it for a “normal” price at least at GameStop.
I feel like I like the original's colors better. It looks closer to the game.
2018 version uses the same body as deadpool
Oh, and for the increased price point..extra head.
i wish we got a brand new sculpt for the new one, like we have for pretty much every other gamerverse spider-man figure after the original 2018 version, but it’s hasbro so it’s to be expected unfortunately. also i don’t know if it’s just my figure but the blue looks more grey to me on the new one, definitely prefer the original colour scheme on the 2018
I like the look of it but I really don’t like that blue even tho it’s sorta accurate
Technical it's still spiderman 1 version as new spidermal 2 game has not shown off any images yet
Not agreeing with price hikes and i didn't order either figures but the original ps4 spidy figure came out as Gstop exclusive in 2018/2019 before the world chaos of 2020 so like every product and companies across the board hiked prices past inflation rise prices.
The new one is 💩 but I like the head sculpt if only they had a dark tone red like in the game
The 23$ one is actually 110$
MSRP is $23
11:01 its using a sunfire body mold
In case it's not mentioned in the comments, doesn't that old one use the Sunfire body? The Spiderman 2099 from the Sandman wave also uses it.
No, ps4 spidey is referred to as the "Sunfire" buck. It's sunfire buck with Spidey UK head.
Most Hasbro ML have almost always looked like they're made from like 5 different Sharpies and a reused body mold. They're not even $20 figures
The PS4 Spiderman sculpt comes from a classic Spiderman / webman figure
Ps4 spidey looks like he reusues retro spidey body mold but didn't ps4 spidey come out first before retro?
It would have been one thing to screw people over with the hands, if the body was new, but they didn't even have to tool a new body, it is peak hasbro
In Australia it’s standard price
It was so funny that people were so adamant the logo needs to be whjte yet never complained about raimes being gunmetal or tasm2 suit being gunmetal
The 2018 model has a lil spider coming out with his own shoulders
That's a good point.
But what if that $100 import figure falls apart like they normally do and too loose to fix?
I feel like that brighter orangish red is more fitting for insomniac spider-man
My first two and likely only Marvel Legends figures would be the Retro 2099 and Amadeus Cho Iron Spider because as far as I know, this is the only line that has those two
They look great and all but man, the quality control can be rough - Iron Spider is great but 2099 has very tight thigh cuts and his right leg is wobbly
I was kinda hoping that for the price point, these would be on the more premium side of things, akin to PR Lightning Collection
It makes me sad that my favorite spider would have that kind of issue - I mean he can hold poses well but I worry how long it’ll take before it breaks
i decided to switch to sh figarts completely i rarely buy marvel legends unless on special occasion
It is just so HATEFUL how Hasbro ML team treats us, customers, with these scrutiny repaints with HIGH PRICES and selled as something new... not even the accessories are new. What are we paying for? Paint???!! that's why i've abandoned ML line...
I only pre-ordered the Astonishing X-Men figs. Mostly because I'm a DC guy and I LOVE that Joss Whedon era. Don't care for the Spidey figs.
The 2018 ps4 spidy is the sunfire or spidy 2099 body
I stopped buying Marvel Legends and go to DC multiverse. Best decision of my life, even dc multiverse peg warmer have unique sculpt.
I have to agree with @coldboyous , I reccomend the S.H. Spider-Man PS4 Figure it's super accurate, I for one actually have it.
I only payed $18.99 for the old ps4 spiderman
Nice!
Why not Diss shf too from 80 dollar figure to 180dollar now ahhaha
Bbts don't ship unless you didn't choose add to loot. So that's on you. Don't b slanderin'
Ship or no ship, BBTS charges right away when its in their warehouse and is ready, which they said wasn't going to be till August.
@@DarkspiderDavid91 and u can cancel right away too.
ever since new packaging i put my foot down and stopped buying ML entirely. No matter the character, quality and prices do not align
Cool video keep it up👍
K would definitely pay a extra 30 dollars just for a new sculpt
Kinda unfair that insomniac miles gets his own figure sculpt and all that and insomniac Peter just gets the average figure sculpt, but it’s hasbro what’d you expect.
It looks like they just used white out to repaint the figure.
Dang. That paint quality up close. Nothing a touch up cant fix but man.
I am pretty sure the 2018 figure was the Spider UK figure
Come on Sir, He has a different box. That’s why you need it. It’s like a comic book variant.
Lol. I love my 29.99 $ ps4/5 spidey And..its not a direct rerelease at ALL. I have the old one. Their ARE so many differences
The previous version came from the Spider Uk figure. Just for reference.
It doesnt help that the new Spiderman has the ugliest blue imaginable.
