The dry walls are the best natural way to sever land and sometimes a road map to another place.

Beautiful video. I’m from New Hampshire, USA. The New England states (Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island) are known for their stone walls. New Hampshire is called the granite state for good reason. We say that we harvest earth potatoes (rocks) every spring with the frosts. I had the privilege to take a weekend stone wall building class at Canterbury Shaker Village. It rained but we still worked. It was very interesting and I got a few knocks on my knuckles.

Beautiful landscape. The dry walls and layered rocks do remind me of your sculptures, James. Love seeing the landscape- am just exploring family ties with Scotland and Northern Ireland. Generations of hard working dairy farmers. Maybe that’s why I enjoy your posts too, Graeme. Beautiful clouds. Remind me of Tasmania’s. Used to stare at their changing shapes for hours. Think it helped me recognise the process of transformation often encoded into poetry.
    Then we got a tellie.

Wish you lived next to me when I was a kid! I never would have been home except to eat and sleep, lol! In my opinion, your journey started long before leaving the farm. It's up to us to grab the moments and not let anything defeat us. "Aye, there's the rub"! When I saw the stone cliffs and the stone caves, now I could see the curves and lines. Ohhh the stone walls! Amazing! They are huge! Nice to see a collaboration! How many brothers and sisters do you have? I have two each, making us five siblings.

been following your brother for a while and found the link to you. Know a bit of the history of the farm as explained by your brother. I am sure you are quite sad that it was lost. But i firmly believe stuff happens for a reason. And sometimes as difficult as certain losses are it takes you down a different path in life that is possibly much more rewarding than what could have been through what you lost. You and Graeme are truly gifted with special skills that add positively to those you come into contact with.

Hi! Yes - I think about more as the years pass and my own children have a different upbringing to the one Graeme and I and our other brothers and sisters enjoyed. I'm sure you're right... I do love what I do now. Perhaps a small farm in the future would be nice (a hobby farm!). Thanks for such kind words. Really apreciated.

It really feels like it. Incredible place! Mixed emotion.... mainly a kind of nostalgic contentment. I'd love to have the Knock back in the family....

Our local rocks tend to be very rounded from glaciation, similar to the rocks you have along the shore. I envy the nice flat rocks you have for stone walls. I've always loved stone walls, but they are not to be around here.

Hi Nancy, the stone changes very quickly here. Around ten miles away I've built a lot of walls with round granite boulders. The stone dictates the local style.

Ha ha, not sure about that!!! He puts 3 videos out a week which is a lot of work.....There are 5 of us. Both of my sisters have families. One works in a school, the other in my mums coffee shop. She appears I'm at least one of Graeme' videos. My older brother Robert M G Parker is a writer and also works in fraud prevention.
