4:24 that’s Joe Hansen making announcements, he just passed away yesterday. Became NJT’s first coronavirus victim. It’s in the news. I have had him more than any other conductor probably. Definitely one of the best conductors at all of Transit.
Time and again I've actually ridden on the NEC and have grown somewhat accustomed to it. This virtual ride gives me a different experience with NJT. It appears that the route continues legacy diesel operation ( dating back to its time as Central of New Jersey ). I recalled as a little boy going to visit with my aunt and my cousins who were living in Plainfield.
Yeah, NJT hasn't electrified any of the old diesel lines. What I notice is that the trains on the Raritan line run significantly slower than the NEC as shown by the train that passes us while departing Newark Penn.
@@William_sJazzLoft As far as i know there hasn't been any significant expansion of electrification beyond what was originally put in by the railroads back in the day. When NJT introduced "midtown direct" service into Penn Station that would have required some new electrified interconnects for the Morristown line, but that's about it.
Well done they should have extended the line back to Phillipsburg via Hampton and Washington Warren County NJ so that Stewartsville N Main St Station is rebuilt. I'm wondering to why they didn't have New York Penn Station back. During the late night hours if there was New York Penn Station Service it would take 1 hour 50 between Annandale exit 18 and New York Penn Station
@@AaronTheEagle1 I agree but it won't be competitive with the Bus to Easton,PA and Phillipsburg NJ because the bus will take 30 minutes faster than the train. NYC to Phillipsburg & via High Bridge 2hr but bus 1h 30 min.
That man making the announcements, was he old? Sorry for that question. He sounds like the same guy when I rode rhar train 8 months ago. Last time I rode the raritan valley line, it was some old man who was the ticket agent, and I was just wondering.

Rest in Peace, Joe Hansen, and God speed ...
Wow. I live near the tracks so I always remember him when the train goes by.
Awesome video. Keep the great work.
Thank you, man. In a few weeks or so, I should have an updated version of this video uploaded. Until then, hope you enjoy the rest of the videos.
@@AaronTheEagle1 you got it. I actually do train trips also. Maybe we should meet up one day
I love the way she says BRIDGEWATER
Wow that train moves cause everytime I'm at Newark Penn it's always just sitting there forever

@@AaronTheEagle1 yes i did indeed. I'm looking forward to coming back up North in the not_too_distant future. Thank you
@@bwcbiz How do they decide what needs to be all_electric?

I ❤ NJ Transit
Why did you leave the first car? you had it all yourself? XD

that would be great if this line was extended to Phillipsburg or at least have it terminate in Easton

Penn Station wouldn't have an overcrowding situation had NJT just stayed in Jersey City Station.
thanks for this.

Ford Escape I believe he was middle aged, he wasn’t OLD. Kinda short, little bit fat, and white hair.
Oh no nevermind. Last time I went, it was a tall man, not really fat, and white hair. Oh ok just wondering. Thanks.
Yeah he’s slightly older. Used to be on 5737 3 days a week, now has it 5 days a week. Good conductor overall though pretty strict.
Joe Hansen... sadly he just passed away yesterday. It’s in the news. God rest his soul. A real great conductor and as good a railroader as it gets.
What is saying about the 1st and last cars
That they are designated quiet cars
15:32 look I was at union
Joey Radomski lol that was you?
