They kick ass! But they didn't pioneer Swedish death metal and this is more black metal. The debut was death metal and for me the sophomore was pure black metal.

Necrophobic was making demos same time as the rest of dissection/dismember/entombed/at the gates/unleashed/grave/unanimated/dawn/sacramentum in the late 80’s. Technically dissection was pretty technical for a black metal band at the time. Back to topic this album is going to slay Ramstedt is a riff monster!
Amazing...it's like someone knows how to mix the song so that the guitars, vocals and drums are clear and distinct and compliment each other instead of merging into a muddy indistinguishable mess...which is what happens on 90% of the Black/Death metal that turns up on my feed. Very much looking forward to this one.
Properly mastered music is rare because the knowledge of how to do it is dying out. There's no money in it unfortunately, so those few studios that are left have to thumb on quality to survive on the little money they get... so in the end, those that do it properly, they do it for the art, not for the money.

I know my grumpy old ears are giving me a subjective experience, but I find the majority of the Black/Death metal that I get recommended to be mostly unlistenable because I can’t make out anything in the mix. So when I get a vid like this on my feed it’s a bit of a treat.

Yeah. Great Blackened Death. I got into them because the guitarists were in a band called Black Trip (now called VOJD). Black Trip's sophomore album, Shadowline, is incredible traditional heavy metal. As far as Necrophobic, they're pretty consistent. Blood Hymns is my favorite. You might dig Sacramentum and Unanimated too.
I thought I was dreaming at first but I could actually understand what he was singing!! First time for me and Black Metal. Come for the cool video and stay for the lyrics. Be careful guys people will be tempted to put you in the light rock section if they can understand what your saying. Any way great video.

This album sounds like darkside , just not as dark ? Maybe it's the production but I miss blood moon and the darkness of the earlier albums , but this is so close I love it !
