  • Excerpts from a new video on GMD-1s that includes a narrated historical slide show of the CN 1000, 1100, 1400, 1600 and 1900 series and of the NAR units. This is followed by video of the 1100, 1400, 1600 and 1900 series taken in both Western Canada and the Maritimes.     I never new of this engines existence. I have seen so many other North American engines. As a Canadian Train fan i am learning slowly about these unique engine GMD- 1. How much I want ones in scale models! HO & O scale especially ! I really enjoyed this short film. 👍✅⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    Love the anthology of world rail vids, Mr. Othen ( even though you have passed on :( ). I like the GMD-1’s, uniquely a Canada-only item, though some since migrated to Cuba.
    BTW I was fortunate to have gotten an M3H horn like the one at the beginning, from an ebayer in SK. It has a cut across the flare of the largest bell that would accommodate the radiator bump at the long end, so I’m confident it’s off a GMD-1. Sounds just like the one in your video at any rate.

    Theres at least 1 or more in southern Ontario and one is in a video on the tube being used as pusher duty on the Dundas hill with a gp9 (they were the switch crew from Aldershot yard )Hamilton/Burlington area

      About 20 1400 series still operating on CN and quite a few more in Cuba.
