Amazing ride I just downloaded the route to my Wahoo thanks!
I hope to make it back to ride this in July
@@GravelBikeCalifornia if you're going to do it again let me know. A friend of mine did the route with you guys a couple years ago and he told me they discontinued the event. But we have a good gravel Community here in town we will join! I ride with Dave zabriskie and his kids all the time I'll try to get them on board!
Without a doubt, my favorite ride so far!
It's no Cleghorn...
man.... this is a WHOLE assed gravel bike video!!!!!!
...in a good way....
I am from The actual Rock of Gibraltar in Europe and I had no idea there was such a great road for cycling in California called Gibraltar.
Can't wait to ride this today!
It's a beast. Good to have an organized ride for it.
Bucket list ride. Thanks for putting this together Zach.
I hope a lot of people give this a go.
Sweet adventure, thanks for sharing
Top of the list!
You Guys are Awesome!
The cool part is we can all do these adventures.
Wow. Def need to do this. My in-laws are in Santa Ynez so I am over there all the time. Great video.
Staring at Strava for hours on end pays off!!
So far out of my wheelhouse, but definitely looks like fun. Gr8 vid.
Some people drove up Gibraltar just to do the loop which cuts about half the elevation.
Awesome video Im going there next sunday
Bring extra water
@@GravelBikeCalifornia I did it I climbed to all the way up to "la cumbre peak, keep your videos they a great guide for other riders
Glad you nailed it.
Great route and video. I have climbed Gibraltar and descended Painted Cave but never done the dirt down to the dam and back up to Camino Cielo. Definitely on my list now! Thanks :). Are there places to get water en route or do you have to carry enough for the whole loop?
I should have added another note, but other than the water left out in Painted Cave (mile 34) where there's also a spigot nearby, your other option is to continue west on Paradise Road (mile 23) for about a mile to Lower Oso Campground and then head back towards Arroyo Burro Road.
@@GravelBikeCalifornia Got it, thanks. If I try this ride I think I will take my Camelbak in addition to two bike bottles. I bet it could be beastly hot down to and up from the dam.
I prefer going up San Marcos Rd. Way tougher.
Shhh...that's another video...
My bucket list ride is to climb both San Marcos/Painted Cave and Gibraltar in the same day :)
@@mattkavanaugh5623 that's definitely cool, but I've never done it. There are so many different ways to get a ton of climbing in one shot.
