@@steven1822 It’s amazing how they just keep going. Isn’t it? Ron continues to write great material, and Russell has as much energy and charisma as ever.
Several people that I've gotten into TLDP have told me that no wonder I like them as they sound like Sparks! (I'm 64 and I remember the first time I heard TTABEFTBOU on the radio and taped it!)
Like them to cover a queen song. Hammer to fall which is Emily Roberts favourite. Early stuff like march of the black queen or killer queen. Now I'm here might be good.
@@niallq8447 I was reading the other day that prior to TLDP Emily had the Brian May role in an all-girl Queen tribute act. She's a classically trained jazz guitarist too... This band is so chock full of immense talent, they're incredible.
It would be nice for them to actually inform the crowd before the sing it back rehearsals that this is a song by a band called Sparks from 50 years ago & was a huge smash.....long before this audience were even born. It's a decent cover but as a Sparks fan I feel cheated.
Good god man give them a bit of slack. They don't speak Japanese and I'm pretty sure 90% of tge audience won't speak English. Hard enough teaching them a few words 😅
@@alanadams7071 Sorry alanadams, I obviously wasn't paying full attention that the performance was in Tokyo. Sparks have a huge fanbase in Japan though for the last 50 years & Sparks love the country & it's culture. I would hope TLDP would be aware of that having covered 'This Town' from the Kimono My House album. Language apart, the iconic cover picturing the two Geisha girls only, could maybe have just been put in a photoframe on the piano to at least acknowledge Sparks. It's only my opinion but I'm still miffed.
@rsmith7912 How do you know they didn't mention the band? That is a fan's video not an official band one and doesn't cover the full introduction. TLDP don't often do covers on their live shows but when they do they always introduce it as a cover and calling it a "treat". They are also very respectful of other acts, especially those that have inspired their own music like Sparks have.
@@alanadams7071You previously said that by being in Tokyo 90% of the audience won't speak English & that TLDP don't speak Japanese so you contradict yourself when you say they always introduce a cover by saying it's a treat. Matter of opinion but no way is this better than the Sparks original. It would be better if they introduced the song as their version of the 50 yr old Sparks smash to educate their fans as to who they've been influenced by. Otherwise it's just plagiarism.
@@rsmith7912how is it plagiarism if they said it was a cover? Ron and Russell were just at their LA show and showed them nothing but love for covering their song. Don’t know why you’re upset on their behalf and accusing TLDP of plagiarism.
