So you essentially have 48 pins, however one is missing for keying. On one side four pins are for jumpers, so there should be a small space between those pins and the other pins. I heard that they got rid of the terms master/slave to distance it from pre Civil War era. Of course since it pretty obsolete, that move is kind of meaningless.
Who knows that reason. In the old day the master and slave drive were not independent. Thus, it was important which storage you use as a master drive. But when that all changed maybe that is the reason they decided to call it drive 0 and drive 1.

I have a 2.5 inch hdd with 47pins n the motherboard have ide pins too,how do I connect them as the SATA cable do not fit in the HDD??
