The 1970s TV series The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes was an anthology show, with each episode an adaptation of a Victorian/Edwardian mystery thriller - making the point that while Sherlock Holmes was the most famous detective of them all, he was very far from the only one. England was crawling with detectives in those days.
The radio series 'The Rivals' feels very much as if it is a resurrection of that earlier TV show, with very much the same conceit - though it adds the Holmes's police confederate, Inspector Lestrade, as narrator of the adventures...
