@@lordginger636 I mean, it’s entirely possible he says 1917, but it sounds like 1970 to me and it says 1970 in the video transcript. Happy to be proven wrong though. Even then, batteries have been in main stream use since around 1910 so there’s that as well…
He meant quartz driven mechanisms didn't become mainstream until about 1970. Before that, mechanisms were driven by a mainspring, or other source of potential, kinetic energy.
Watching Uri's descent into madness makes for very entertaining videos. The clock is a work of genius, but for me the highlight was the offset turning in the three jaw chuck by putting the jaws out of sync! The man has got some mad skills!
You are a treasure Herr Tuchman. No one on RUclips comes close to matching the level of technical complexity and entertainment value that you do. I wish you continued success along with the best of the holidays to you and yours.
Peter sellers does machining, I love it. My dad used to laugh himself silly watching the pink panther. I am a chronic pain sufferer and I watch Tony and I H machining for motivation to push through the pain and get in the woodshop. I have really been enjoying your stuff the last few weeks and watch it for a distraction when I don’t feel well in addition to project motivation Good stuff keep up the great work never lose the goofy enthusiasm
I love everything about this clock. I love the fact it has two faces, a crack in the dial, inlays, the way the gears sound when they spin, i love how the gear was too big for the minute hand to fit over it and the stand offs were sooo cool and added so much to the clock. If i had a machine shop, all id do most times is probably make clocks, lol. You did a perfect job. Definitely a wall clock tho, or maybe a nice custom table would be cool. U don’t ever see a clock with its own special table with pendulum. Maybe the bottom could be a display case, with pendulum swinging behind all ur anime figurines
I think you should use a block and tackle type solution to make the make the weight travel back down for a longer time. I remember my parents' clock used to have that.
I find it fascinating that two stationary pendulums 1 metre apart are not parallel to one another. They both in fact point to the centre of earth and represent the crust end of a very large and slender pizza slice.
its rare my ADHD addled mind can sit and watch something for 22 minutes without looking at my youtube feed or my phone...but Uri always has my full attention. you really have outdone yourself, my man.
I believe you can change the pendulum weight instead of length? And perhaps incorporate steel or another heavier metal into the weight to make it shorter - or just have the string spool be a smaller diameter to increase runtime (assuming it can still supply enough torque that it won't get stuck) You've built a beautiful thing. I love the dials
A truly gifted film-maker with a thru the lens eye as good as anyone. Would be reluctant to lose these little gems but I think he has box office success within. A sleeping genius who assembles mini movie masterpieces. Wonderful.
You are something else!!!! Absolutely amazing how you choose you projects and then execute them. A true genius with great fantastic technical ability. An almost non existent combination. I love your videos, the annotations and the explanations. A emes neshoma
Happy holidays to you and yours, Uri - especially that gloriously fluffy calico! What a beautiful kitty! The clock is super neat and just feeds my brain!
No one can take that away from you. The tenacity to to tackle something as complex as a clock movement made from lathe gears. Brilliant to say the least. Great learning curve for understanding which is what it was meant to be. Fact that the clock work, is testament to the determinination to understand and make it work. PS love the workshop😀 need to see more videos like this on YT
I want to start by saying that I love your show and the art you create. I recommend your channel to all my family and friends. I’m curious if you ever sell any of your art pieces. Fantastic build Uri! I've had a clock idea in mind for years, I just need to make the time to properly design and machine it. Your wacky style is infectious and so weirdly funny - just like my family's sense of humor.
I come here some years ago for pretty engravings, but stayed for Uri. Regret nothing! Every new vid is delicious-ier than previous. I just hope, Uri has as mush fun making them, as I - watching!
Great job, URI! I love the look of the two dials. I hope you visit this and make a clock that will run a whole day or more. This has inspired me, and I might 3D print myself a nice clock!
This was brilliant. I have wanted to make a clock for some time, but I never considered the gearing ratios could be played with as long as the final result was correct. I'm definitely inspired and I always look forward to your videos. Thank you for making RUclips interesting.
You are a true artisan, a living legend Uri. I love watching your videos on how you mix creativity and crazy to make some of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.
Uri I love the way your channel is evolving. Now I look forward to your animations, they are getting quite good and it makes your videos even better. thank you and Merry Christmas.
These videos are hilarious. Between the amazing machining, the songs made entirely of your own voice, and the increasingly epic hand drawn movie intros, you really are one of the best creators on RUclips. I'm so happy I found this channel
I love how with the pantograph and a 3D printer you've essentially made a CNC mill for like 1/10 the cost, brilliant! I had a great *time* watching this one 😁
Uri, I love your videos. I can't wait for the next. Than imagination, animation, and musical vocalizations that bring me to tears. Please, tell us when you'll release an a capella album with your greatest hits. I won't buy it, but I would feel good just knowing it exists. Maybe an idea for a project could be a brass-horned phonograph. You could record your hauntingly beautiful voice onto a wax or plastic record and play it back.
This has been by far one of the most wonderful, entertaining, and hilarious videos I have watched in a long time. Bravo. So much talent on display here.
I suddenly feel the urge to make a clock... that was badass
I was just watching you make a fly cutter.
You still have some scraping to do on that new lathe you've got. Go on get to it
Pleeeease do. I’d love to see what side projects you can come up with for it
