Replace the least expensive things first such as the EGR valve, the MAF sensor, then the ignition coils. A misfire is typically caused by bad ignition coils but the EGR and MAF typically are not overly expensive so just eliminate the least expensive problems first. An inexpensive OBD II reader is handy if you also have one handy.
Hello, guick question...I have a P0355 code on my 2007 Rav4 V6. So I replaced all 6 ignition coils, and spark plugs as well as the connector for #5. Now it keeps burning out the igntion coils on #5, went through 2 already. The wires that I spliced on from the harness to the #5 ignition coil connector was wired in the right order, and no wires are touching each other. I did use tiny wire nuts to splice the connector in, but they're done properly. I'm a residential electrician so that should explain the use of wire nuts.
Nice and simple! I like the approach and your video's....Now that you changed one coil (#one cyl.) when would you recommend doing the others...or if it ain't broke don't fix it.....not a lot of miles on that car....what do you recommend?
In some cars, where you have to remove the intake manifold to access the IGN coils, I do recommend changing all at the same time. But in a 4 Cyl car, the IGN coils are very easy to access so you can just do it one at the time whenever you need it. Thank you for watching and I do appreciate your comments
Very well done and helpful, informative, great editing and production, right to the point! Ty very much! 🔨

What year it is
Thanks for video. I had this problem few days ago on 06 rav4 V6. Scan found p0301, 0302 and 0304 misfire. Car is in shop now waiting to hear from shop what problem is. Car ran fine but engine did seem louder than usual. I was on long distance drive when check engine turned on. Keeping my fingers crossed its not too serious.
After you switched the coils, you could also test by removing the coil from the second cylinder while engine is running to see if the engine stops running rough. If it runs smoothly after removing the coil then you know it's the coil and no the plug.
Yea true so many way to diagnose that kinda issue. Thanks.
Great video, I have a 2011 and I encounter P0303 cylinder 3. Changed to Denso coil packs. Still it came back on. Spark plugs changed not long ago. Would it be the fuel injectors? Thanks
Yes it could be an injector I would start by replacing the injector if the problem still exists you’ll have to do compression test and a leak down test. Let me know how it goes. Thank you for watching.
@@a2zautomasters862 thank you very much for the reply. I don’t have access to replaceable injectors, would I be able to self clean them?
@@reconjdm you can just switch them around. For example switch cyl #3 injector with cyl # 1 injector and see if the misfire codes move to cyl # 1 then you can be sure if it’s the injector first.
Thank you.,Sir..Have a safe pleasant Holiday!
Hi. My girlfriend has an 08 Toyota rav4 that also has this same 2.4 liter. It gets a cylinder one misfire but only under bigger loads(going up hills usually) but runs fine without missing just driving around normally with no hills. I've replaced the spark plugs twice, installed all new oem toyota coil packs, changed every vacuum line I can get to, brand new oem maf sensor(had a code for it at one point), brand new oem downstream o2 just installed(had 2 codes for that) and the damn thing is still misfiring. I also put in a new air filter and cleaned the PCV. Any idea of what it could be? Could a weak fuel pump cause this?
Hey! I would start by fuel pressure test then. compression and leak down test on all cylinders. Yes a low fuel pressure would cause something like that specially if cylinder 1 @ the end of the fuel rail. Plz let me know how it goes. Thank you for watching.
Having this same nightmare
What did you do?
@@a2zautomasters862 same issue on my 08 rav 4 let me know how it goes?
I now have oil in cylinder one, so is this a bad problem? I wipe them clean every now and then and don't notice a difference, I put cataclean in my rav4 and it ran better but still getting sluggish performance
And by saying oil in cylinder 1 you mean by the spark plugs, right?
@@a2zautomasters862 yes and it's all over the ignition coils
@@PartyWolf36790 ok so that’s for sure is your valve cover gasket. You need to change the valve cover gasket and the spark plugs grommets. That will prevent the oil from going into the ignition coils. Then clean the ignition coils and plugs very well and you should be good.
@@a2zautomasters862 I'll have to get that looked at, mechanics said nothing was wrong with the car. I noticed it needed oil and oil more I drove.
@@PartyWolf36790 if u have oil by the spark plugs you definitely have something wrong with the car.
I had misfire codes and changed all spark plugs and coils, still have code in cylinder 2. Did pressure test, no pressure. What is the fix?
You need a leak down test to find if a valve is the problem
I have rav4 model 200I have rav4 model 2009.
Error in cylinder 3 when I reach high speed or climb high level.
Changing sparks and coils plus swapping injectors but still same code. Checking cylinder 3 pressure it is ok.what do you purpose please.

Sorry 2009 model
Do a compression test a leak down test and smoke test
i had same thing. its some sort of wiring issue. i think
My exhaust rattles bad and sounds like it's misfiring or backfiring but no codes and motor runs rough
That’s strange, if you have a misfire your check engine light should come on. I have seen cases where the Catalytic converter is broken internally and causing a major rattle and that could also cause a misfire.
@@a2zautomasters862 idk barley made it back from houston one time exhuast just shook real bad, mine was because of old spark plugs i did those but another problem is arising
great vid!

I have 2008 Toyota RAV4 misfiring, Coils, spark plugs changed but still bring cylinder 3 misfiring code then I later changed all the injectors which solved the problem for few but when the abs wire was connected, the misfiring started again and anytime they abs wire is disconnected everything seems to be ok
Never heard of ABS causing misfire. Could be a short in the harness.

hello guess please I have a camry 2.4 diagnostic error p0351 p0352 p0353 p0354 starts and stalls
Hello there! These codes indicate misfire cyl 1,2,3 and 4 or problems with all 4 cyl. Before you go any farther check all your fuses most likely your ignition coils fuse is blown. Plz check that and let me know. Thanks.
the fact is that all the fuses are intact nothing burned out on the move stalled starts and stalls the coils changed
do you have skype????
@@ДонСапенов no Skype sorry.
@@ДонСапенов check for any other codes, make sure you have power and ground @ ign coils and fuel injectors. Check for big vacuum leaks, also mass Air flow sensor could be faulty
