They did that scene amazingly... I don't care that they changed a few elements. They still kept the core of that scene - Newt begging Thomas to kill him, and Thomas eventually relenting, even though the movie seems to pass it off as an accident (at least, that's how I saw it). Also I cried. A lot.
i completely agree! it was a nice change from the book but still held the essence of what happened. i cried to but even more with the letter at the end that's what really got me going. i was a mess!

I think that if they'd followed the book exactly and had Thomas shoot Newt before running away, and the others not even knowing what had happened, it wouldn't have translated as well or have had as much of an impact. But having Minho run up and seeing Newt lying on the ground was so heartbreaking... Especially because they've been friends for years. I was bawling my eyes out. And Newt looked so young and almost childlike when he was stabbed... No. Just... No.😭😭😭😭 And the LETTER... I was NOT expecting that. I knew that the chain thingy had a note in it (because what else could it be?) but I though it would the "Kill me" note. It was so emotional when Thomas saw what it was and started crying. And then he reads it and the music starts playing and I start crying and then I'm depressed for the rest of the day because Newt's dead and the Maze Runner series is over.😭😭😭
OMG same! i feel like sometimes people forget that Minho and newt and the others had known each other for so long before thomas showed up because the whole story is told from his point of view but i like how they showed newt and Minho's relationship a bit more. i literally had so much homework to do that day but i didnt do any of it because i was so like depressed and emotionally drained. also I think the letter was amazing because it like linked back to the first movie so much and it was so perfect and beautiful. i mean "Thomas, I knew i would follow you anywhere and i have, we have" like seriously are they trying to break my heart!

I was surprised that SPOILER Newt died by accident, instead of Thomas having to take the difficult step to take him out of his misery. I'm okay with there being no note in which Newt begged Thomas to kill him, because the note he did give to Thomas in the film hit me right in the feels in the best possible way. It was such a sweet and touching goodbye, also incorporating the line from the book "Thank you for being my friend", which Newt had written for Thomas when he was taken to the Crank Palace. Also, the book was so much more tragic because Minho, who was also Newt's closest friend from the Maze, never found out what happened to Newt. Brenda and Thomas kept what happened a secret. And no one would ever find out that Sonya was Newt's sister :(

Wes , I am a book fan and I am now a Maze Runner movie fan and I would say that i'm really proud of the whole series of Maze Runner it is my all time favourite movie . Thank you for making my favourite book into a movie . The movie was well made .
If they saved Newt, then there would be no emotional climax. No one except for Thomas cared deeply for Theresa, but everyone was effected by Newt due to his caring and courageous nature.

i still think her characters a bitch i’ll hate her for her traitorous actions and it was so unnecessary honestly in the end he couldn’t even save the person that was like his bestfriend like honestly her “heroic” actions are different than thomas’s heroic actions
